SurfSong is a private guest house close to 2 beaches.....Carmel River Beach and the mile long Carmel Beach. Recently remodeled, this 750 sq. ft. hideaway boasts a new kitchen with all new appliances and granite counter tops, living room (with a gas pot belly stove), dining area and full bath on the main floor. There is also a high end Queen murphy bed behind the living room sofa that requires a little furniture shuffling for extra guests. Walk to 2 beaches less than 5 blocks away. Stroll along the ocean, walking a half circle between the beaches on surface streets. Located at the cusp of the Carmel Point Area, it is a short walk to the famous former mayor's Mission Ranch Restaurant. One block away is a huge playground with slides, running track soccer field etc. and just perfect for someone needing to blow off a little steam. Walk into town on a casual 15 minute stroll through Carmel neighborhoods. See a live theatre event at the Golden Bough or Sunset Center. Play golf at one of the 18 courses in the area.

We were in Carmel for a wedding the weekend of april 20, 2013. I found Surfsong on Vrbo and it was all that was promised. Phil and Dottie were so welcoming and helpful, we couldn't have asked for niceer hosts. I feel like we came home with two new friends!
The garden area is so peaceful and filled with beautiful flowers and plants. We spent a great deal of time out there. The only thing I would have liked to have had is some sorce of heat out there as it gets chilly.
The location was perfect! Just blocks away from Carmel Village and Pebble Beach. Our last night there, we went to Mission Ranch for dinner and yes, saw Clint!
If and when we return to Carmel, we will definetly stay at Surfsong!

Hard to say anything better than the glowing reviews below, but SurfSong was really wonderful. It's extremely comfortable, well-equipped and in a great location. It's very private with a lovely garden and beautiful tiled hot tub that we used almost every night. The neighborhood is great for walking and within about three minutes you're walking with ocean views. Very close to the center of town and terrific restaurants. Wireless (important to us) worked flawlessly. Phil and Dotti were friendly and attentive hosts, clearly anxious to make our stay memorable. We hope to visit SurfSong again!

We stayed two nights at this little getaway and enjoyed ourselves greatly. The easy walk to a lovely beach was a highlight. We also liked being in a residential area as opposed to the crowded town center. As other reviewers have commented, the murphy bed used by our teenager was far better than a sofa bed. Our loft king size bed was also quite comfortable. The small kitchen and the large tiled shower were functional and well kept up. Pretty little garden space too. The owner was away during some of our stay but made sure we had everything we needed. Good communications throughout. Phillip, thanks for a really nice stay!

The location of this rental was great for beach access - only a block or two to the bay. It was quite a walk into downtown though, but a lovely long walk could be made just following the beach.
The beds were very comfortable and the apt very clean and quiet. The place smelled just a bit musty to us, however. The photos make it look larger then it is, which I guess is typical.
The owners, even though they weren't in town when we were there, were very helpful in giving us reservations at Pebble Beach Club, which was a treat. It is very near Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch so be sure to stop by to see its lovely setting.Response from Phillip Bradbury - 01/17/2013

This guest stayed with us in September with her 2 sisters for 2 nights. It was the very first time she had rented a vacation rental. Our approach to all guests is to do everything we can to make a stay @ SurfSong special. She left us no message in our guest book so any concerns are a surprise. We always inform our guests of our location to town and beaches and it is a nice walk of 9 blocks into town.

Surfsong is a gem! The location is perfect, close to the beaches and hiking trails and an easy walk to town. The livingroom/dining area has floor to ceiling windows looking out to the charming private garden. The kitchen and bathroom are lovely and completely updated. The loft bedroom is large, the bed is very comfortable and there is plenty of storage for clothing. We loved the hot tub and gas fireplace! Phil and Dottie are wonderful hosts. We can't wait to return!

We had a great time at this condo and the Bradbury's were very hospitable. Very clean and the hot tub was great. The condo is within walking distance of Clint Eastwood's restaurant and the lunch the Bradbury's set up for us at Pebble Beach was an experience we soon wont forget! I would highly recommend staying at Surfsong as we certainly will on our next visit to Carmel.

We wanted to rent somewhere in Carmel that made us feel like we were living in the town for 3 days rather than staying in a hotel and what a good choice we made. 'Surfsong' is a superb vacation cottage in a perfect location - a very pleasant 15 minute walk from the centre of town and closer still to the beaches. The accomodation is homely, comfortable, very clean and well appointed. Our teenage daughters had the downstairs fold out bed which they reported to be very comfortable and the upstairs master bed was the best we slept in on our tour of California. The garden and hot tub are a real bonus too. Phil and Dotti are charming, lovely hosts providing lots of information and suggestions. The booking for lunch at Pebble Beach Club was very kind and was probably the best food in quality and value that we had in Carmel. We definitely plan to return one day and could not imagine staying anywhere else in Carmel, it was that good. Thank you!

Surfsong was the pefect hideaway for us on our trip to Carmel. The Bradbury's were wonderful hosts and made great recommendations for eating and travel. The location is ideal just a few blocks from both beautiful beaches and access to Highway 1. We walked to Mission Ranch to enjoy the view and food a couple of times. Thank you, Phil and Dottie for the passes to the aquarium and the encouragement to see Pebble Beach Club and the 17 mile drive. Our favorite excursion was definitely the drive to Big Sur. It was perfectly beautiful!! We hope to return here again to enjoy Carmel and Surfsong's cozy amenities like to garden, fully equipped kitchen and hot tub. :)

We really enjoyed our stay at SurfSong. The photos and description were very accurate. The accomodations were comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen and bathroom were updated and immaculate. Both the upstairs king and downstairs queen murphy bed were very comfortable with nice linens throughout. Outside, the patio, garden and hot tub were lovely and private. Great location for walking to the beach (5 min), the coastal walking path (5) minutes and Ocean ave (15 min). Easy to get in and out of town to Hwy 1. We look forward to returning to SurfSong and enthusiastically recommend it.

Phil is a good host. He made this stay easy. His hospitality extends into free aquarium tickets and setting up a free tour of the beautiful 17 mile drive. Carmel is just a walk away. We especially enjoyed the hot tub, private garden and the fully appointed kitchen. All in all a very good stay.

Fabulous guest cottage. 100% privacy. Beautiful private garden/patio area to enjoy. The cottage is fully equipped. Access to washer/dryer. Wifi. Phil and Dotti loaned me their bike because I was without a car during the day! Love the comfy bed with great linens. Enjoyed the private hot tub. I can't think of a single improvement. No question I will stay with them again. They do have a hidden outside key in the event you lock yourself out of the house! We utilized their passes to the aquarium and dined at the Pebble Beach Club with Phil's reservation. An excellent stay in every respect.

We spent two nights here, and it was absolutely fabulous. The location was amazing - so close to Carmel. The guest house itself was immaculate, very clean and had all the ammenities that you could need. The hot tub was a wonderful bonus - great to relax in, after a day of exploring Big Sur. Phil was wonderful, and even organized a lunch for us at Pebble Beach, which was one of the highlights of the trip. I hope that I can come back again soon!

My wife and I needed a place to stay to visit our son who just took a job in Carmel Valley. The Surfsong worked out perfectly. It was a great location to visit our son in Carmel Valley, and take walks along the Carmel River Beach and scenic drive. We also walked to town for breakfast one morning to the lovely Carmel Coffee House. The kitchen has everything you need, even a dishwasher! We cooked dinners for our son and there was plenty of room for him to stay comfrtably with us on the murphy bed in the living room. The beds were both very comfortable, especially with the windows open to let in the ocean breeze. We found the listing very accurate and the Surfsong was very clean upon arrrival. Phil answered many questions and was very helpful with local info. I would highly reccomend this property. We used the passes to the Montery aquarium and had lunch at the Pebble Beach Tennis Club which made for an enjoyable day! We also tried the Baja Cantina that Phil reccommended. It was fabulous food! We plan on eating there again and trying other dishes. At the end of our busy days we enjoyed soaking in the hot tub in the serene backyard! Can"t wait to return!

My wife and I recently planned a trip to Carmel by-the-sea for our 25th wedding anniversary. After browsing the internet for hours, we found a listing for this location. It was perfect! The first thing we noticed was that the location was less than a 15 minute walk to downtown Carmel (but we drove anyway). Dottie greeted us in the driveway and escorted us to our room. It looked brand new (she mentioned that is was just recently remodeled). The unit is two floors with a bedroom on the second floor. The whole apartment was spacious and felt very comfortable. All of the furniture and decor made us feel as though we actually lived in Carmel. The unit even smelled new. The bed was even more comfortable than the one we have at home. We had a great time touring the city and driving along the coast. Dottie and Phil were wonderful. They really went the extra mile for us and provided us with passes to the Monterey aquarium and reservations for lunch at the Pebble Beach Golf Club. They also gave us advise on what to see and do. They made our stay one to remember. If we ever get a chance to go back to Carmel, you can bet that we will be calling them immediately.
They truly exceeded our expectations. Don't pass up this listing! -

My husband and I recently stayed in this cosy little guest house. It is not attached to the house, so very private. It had everything we needed. Our hosts Phil and Dottie were always available and helpful. They provided 2 free passes to the Monterey aquarium and also arranged for free entry to the 17 mile drive and access to the Pebble Beach Country Club for lunch. A real treat! This was a perfect pied à terre for us to visit Carmel and we also spent one day in Big Sur which was an easy drive from the guest house. I would recommend this property. The unit was exactly as described on the web page.

We had a wonderful stay at the newly redone Surf Song. Everything was clean and comfortable. The private entrance and tranquil back garden were delightful. Phillip was usually on hand to answer questions and head us towards a quiet coffee place or nice dinner spot. Everything we needed was close by: the beach, mission, and shopping. We stayed in the apartment behind the main house and it was amazingly beautiful. Great art with all the appliances and amenities one could want. The location is perfect. We rented Surf Song and Beachwalk with our friends from Seattle. It was so nice to have our own space and yet be so close together (when we had 4 kids with us). What a great location, so close to the beach, town and the grocery stores. We will be back!
