Norfolk UKA nice place, OK
Left on 05/29/2013 for a stay in May 2013
Firstly i cant fault this place in terms of cleanliness, space amenties etc.
It is situated close to the owners house(but not attached), we saw the owner on arrival, and was given our space for the rest of the holiday, we knew where she was should we have any problems.
Kitchen had the majority of stuff you could need for self catering, but would benefit from a proper toaster and not the combination oven type that was in there(it took ages!!!).
The house is siuated down a very steep drive(belive me its very steep), the more you drive up and down it, you get used to the distances either side and what room you have to manuvere.
we could not get the car in the small garage, due to all the owners things, which would have been nice if they had been cleared.
The house is not as private as the pictures show, they have been taken very cleverly, as to not show there is a run down house directly in front of the kitchen window, and one towards the back and side. Sitting on the back verandah anybody coming and going from the owners property could easily see you(anybody coming down the drive), not as private as i like to sit and bask in the sun, and diddnt feel comfortable here to do that. Although there are some nice touches here(smellies in bathroom, fluffy towels), i always tend to look abit closer(lets face it thats what trip advisor is for). The deck was dirty, looked like it hadnt been swept in months, outside furniture covered in cobwebs, water feature unplugged and empty of water. Although these may all be trivial things, attention to the little things could make this abit better.( i sat dowen on the outside chair in white shorts, surfice to say they werent white when i got up), there was also no toilet paper in the bathroom!!, if im paying this amount of money thats the basic thing i would expect to find(routing around i found some eventually).
The cupboard in the kitchen which houses the iron and cleaning items, housed a mop and bucket which i presume is used for cleaning the floor?, the mop stunk the cupboard out everytime you opened the door(maybe a little bit of bleach on it might help, or some air fresner), like i say no big thing, but i have standards at home and expect to at least have them matched on holiday.
Close proximity to Carmel, which has to be the loveliest place ive ever visited in the whole of america.
literally down the road and straight across, is a shopping plaza for groceries and a good pizza parlour.
The property has an information folder, and again this is something that needs improving on, stuff was out of date(we went to one restaurant that was enclosed in the folder of info, to find it had shut months ago!), its just a folder of jumble mess, maps, information, places to visit etc, needs to be sectioned off, so you can turn easily to the info required, not have to literally take everything out to find what you may need.
I would rate this property as OK, not the worst ive stayed in by any sens of the imagination, its clean and did its job, a little attention to the smaller things and this could be fab -

The home is beautiful! The photos do not do it justice. The location is perfect, felt just like part of the community and it is close to market, pharmacy, great local restaurants, the center of Carmel, 4 miles from Monterey, etc. The owners were very gracious and respected our space but just a phone call away if we needed anything. The home was immaculate and had really everything you could ask for. We would certainly return and recommend this rental.

Cotati, CAEnchanted Oaks Indeed!

The rental was everything we could have wanted and more! My boyfriend and I booked a mid week mini vacation for 3 nights for our anniversary and the place was perfect for what we needed, a romantic home base to explore the Carmel and Monterey area. It was a short drive over highway 1 to downtown Carmel, close enough but far enough away to feel secluded and private. It was amazingly private, built into the trees and out every window all you saw was lush trees, breathtaking :) We love to cook and the kitchen was gourmet with a nice big gas range and plenty of counter space. It was so nice to have a living room to kick back and watch the baseball game and a movie in on the nights we were not going out. The Foster's keep the place immaculately clean with plenty of amenities including all the towels you could ever need, a kitchen stock with cooking utensils, Wi-Fi and aquarium passes! The deal was amazing and we both agree we will be coming back again!!! It would be foolish to get a hotel room when there is the lovely Enchanted Oaks!
