We cannot say enough about this charming cottage. Our family enjoyed the Thanksgiving week at Seashell Cottage and were very impressed with all the extra touches. From the well appointed kitchen to the lovely, apparently new bedroom linens, we could not have asked for more. The location was perfect for us. Daily neighborhood walks and trips to the beach rounded out our stay. The weather was great, with balmy days and cool nights. We had a fire in the fireplace every night which just added to the coziness of the cottage. The only negative was that the fireplace did not draw too well, and we did experience some smokiness in the living room. All in all, we loved our stay, and will certainly recommend it to our friends.

I believe the pictures do not do justice to this property. I have to say I was surprised. I loved the location, I loved the layout of the house. It was private and roomy. Loved the piano. The house was filled with light, had the windows open all the time as we loved the fresh air. ( We had come to stay in this house during the large forest fire that was up in the Northern California area where we live, so we loved the fresh air.) Neighbor on one side of us was a lovely lady, and welcomed us. The other neighbor on the other side, well I don't think that she was too happy living near a vacation rental, but...)
Downtown and the beach were within 20-25 minutes of walking. Lovely walk though.
The only drawback... the knives in the kitchen were very dull :) It was a little frustrating, as I love to cook. But that was a very small and insignificant detail.
Thank you kindly again for welcoming us. We will definitely stay here again.

Seashell cottage was partially secluded within a quaint neighborhood of almost historic homes. The property which is surrounded by a fence and crawling vines lends to a feeling of being in the countryside, although it took us about ten minutes to walk into town (follow sidewalk on north side of Ocean Drive) and approximately fifteen minutes to walk to the ocean. By car we were five minutes from a Safeway store for stocking up on groceries, minutes from downtown Carmel and the beach.
The home was well-maintained and had incredible morning and afternoon light. I was thinking if I were an artist, I would set up an easel and take advantage of this incredible infused type lighting. The home has skylights in the kitchen. The master bedroom window overlooks a quaint courtyard with the morning sun and the sunroom has an abundance of afternoon light peering through the roses at the corner of the patio.
We cooked at the cottage each day and grilled on occasion. The appliances were newer and the kitchen had an abundance of stemware, dinnerware and cooking utensils. The home included spices, although you may wish to bring your own spices from home or purchase some in town. The ones included in the rack were classic European type spices (thyme, basil, oregano, etc.). Also, if you like cloth napkins there were only a few (Autumn motif).
The home has a split floorplan with the master tucked on one side of the home and two other rooms at the other end, it felt very private and the home appeared to be much larger than the advertised square footage.
There was so much to see with interesting architecture in the neighborhood on morning walks and visiting open houses.
As I'm running out of space, we received excellent service as the home was ready at check-in time, was very clean and provided a relaxing vacation. It provided all the conveniences of home in a lovely setting.

Seashell cottage was like coming home. Everything needed to settle in for a relaxed holiday was provided --including even sand toys. The location is an easy walk to the beach and to downtown. The decor was cozy and comfortable and the sun room was a favorite hang out spot.
