We rented the home in March of this year. The home is as well appointed at it appears in the photos. It's conveniently located to ski areas - we went to North Star, and groceries and dining.
We felt comfortable and cozy. The kitchen was well equipped. The home, bedding and towels clean and of nice quality. All in all it was a wonderful experience.

You know when you book a place and you start to wonder if the house will really look like the pictures? After a few failed vacation home stays, i (and my friends) was really surprised and happy to see this house was just as advertised. It's a beautiful home inside and out. Great living room and a really nice kitchen. All the bedrooms are spacious including the "kid" room with 5 individual beds. In the back there is a nice hot tub, a huge table and a nice barbque. Truly a nice place, will definitely book again.
Great Family Rental

This is a great rental for large families or groups. We had seven people stay for the whole week, and a few others came by for a night or two. One night we had 12, and everyone was comfortable -- everyone said the beds were great!
We prepared all but a few meals in the kitchen here, and it was very well stocked with pots, pans, plates, utelnsils, etc. The large front room was great. We were in the spa every night. Our dog loved it too.
A word a warning -- don't leave any food out on the deck or in your cars. The bears were out in force.
Perfect vacation home!

Our stay in the Thompson home was simply wonderful. Every detail has been thought of. It was the perfect home for 2 families with kids from 5-14. The older kids loved the bunk room with games and a bit of privacy. Younger kids could sleep near mom and dad (one master has a comfortable couch perfect for a little one, the other master has a room right next door with a queen bed). Every bed including bunks had extremely comfortable bedding. The cooks kitchen has everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal. The most well stocked rental I have ever stayed at. The home also backs up to the woods with hiking trails nearby. The little ones loved exploring the "forts" that had been built in the woods. Agate Bay Realty was a pleasure to work with and provided a binder with a ton of information about the area. The Thompson home is amazing. Rarely do you find a home this nice and still extremely homey and comfortable.

Modern house perfect for multiple families
Left on 05/07/2012 for a stay in April 2012 | Mariel
We enjoyed our stay in the Thomson house a lot. The 4 bedroom house is great for multiple families. The kids bedroom with 5 beds was great to have all 5 kids we had with us being able to sleep in 1 room. The house is modern, nicely decorated. All 4 bedrooms are spacious with nice beds and nice badrooms. The master bath is great and the hot tub is a great asset.
Only thing that could be improved is some of the kitchen equipment: bread knife, pizza cutter.
We would definitely rent this house again

Best house in Tahoe

The Thompson house is my dream home and it's so awesome to be able to stay here, even if it's just for a short while. We had a group of friends up (13 of us total). Tons of room, everyone loved the house, the open layout allows for everyone to hang out but for multiple different conversations to go on at the same time. The hot tub is awesome! Our group was mostly couples and we opted to bring an aerobed and sleeping bags since the capacity includes single beds in the bunk room.
A beautiful cabin in a winter wonderland!

Everything was handled online quickly and easily. We arrived to a lovely, clean cabin stocked with everything we needed. There were plenty of linens, dishes, cooking utensils, all the comforts of home. It was close to town as well as to several ski resorts and a sledding area. Sitting in the hot tub with snow all around was especially nice.
Great time as always!

Beautiful and comfortable home
Left on 11/11/2011 for a stay in November 2011 | DK
We were a group of seven needing 4 bedrooms, making the Thompson home a great choice. The house was sparkling clean when we arrived. It has a fully supplied kitchen with plenty of dishes, silverware, glassware and pots and pans for anything we could imagine needing! The kitchen had high end appliances and a dishwasher that was so quiet! Beds were comfortable and plush. The entertainment system in the living room worked great with surround sound, and a really nice wood burning fireplace with gas to help keep the fire going. Since the house backs up to the forest, it was private and woodsy making the spa time comfortable and nice. We were surprised by an early snow, so didn't have a chance to do much lake activities and were off season for neighborhood summer amenities, but had a nice home to stay cozy in. It's a lovely home with high ceilings making the house feel spacious, but the public spaces are all together so everyone can converse while some are cooking or eating or sitting by the fire. Would love to find an opportunity to enjoy this home again soon.

We had an absolutely fantastic time in Tahoe, and loved the Thompson house. We would (and will) stay here again and again. The house is beautifully laid out, and equipped with everything you might need. We were very pleasantly surprised to find bathrobes in each room, and a very well equipped kitchen. The forest yard is a gorgeous and peaceful setting, yet the walk to the beach is short. What a great place!

The Thompson house is situated in a nice location of town. It is a nice home but greatly lacked basic maintenance like fixing or perhaps replacing the sliding screens that leads to the back porch. The housekeeping needs a lot of improvement. The bathroom showers had mold in between the tiles and the hardwood floor needs to be mopped. Lastly, the cooking and eating utensils need to changed and updated. Read more
Response from Agate Bay Realty Lake Tahoe - 07/25/2011
Thank you for your review. I notice that you suggest updating the kitchen utensils, and I'm hoping you can tell me any in particular you can remember having problems with so I can order those new as soon as possible. Thank you for any details you can provide! I'm so sorry also that the screens were troublesome. I got that report from the guests just before you, and I immediately ordered new ones but they had not been delivered for installation by the time you arrived. The tile in the shower needs to be re-grouted to combat the mold issue completely, and in the meantime we just fight it as we go, which is not sufficient obviously. That work needs to be done at the end of the season so as not to disrupt any guest's stay, so I apologize for that inconvenience as well. Thank you again for your valuable feedback!

We really enjoyed our stay in the Thompson home. The layout is ideal for larger groups/families, it is in terrific condition and really does look just like the photos...easy walk to the pool, quick drive to the beach. Large open deck. A great home to rent in a great area.

The Thompson Cabin was the perfect spot for our girls weekend get away. It's very spacious with a well-appointed kitchen, wonderful open living room, cozy beds, and great hot tub. All of these amenities made for a very fun and relaxing weekend away. We only stayed for the weekend, but easily could have stayed the entire week. I will definitely be reserving the Thompson Cabin for my next trip to Tahoe.

Da New Nunez Familia Tradition
Left on 07/15/2010 for a stay in April 2010 | Rafa
It was great to be able to start of a whole family yearly tradition with The Nunez Family. Knowing my dad's standards of any place he has to lay his head, there was no room for compromise. The Thompsom House surpassed these qualities. It has all that you can expect and more. It was a pleasure to stay at this house and I will be staying here every year with the parents, brothers, nephews, daughters, wife and two dogs. I do recommend this house but please dont book it during spring break 2011,2012,2013,14,15... cuz thats when we love to go. Thanks agate Bay for a wonderful experience!

The Thompson cabin was spacious and clean that came with a kitchen ready to go. The bedrooms are a good size with clean sheets and towels. Besides for the worn carpet upstairs (i like walking barefoot) it was beautiful. Also it was a very quick drive to the grocery store and lake. Would not recommend checking in after sunset unless you know the area well.

For the past 10 years with family and we have stayed in a new cabin every year. Not anymore! This one's a keeper and we'll stay here again year after year. The only hiccup was that the TV didn't work in the main room. However, someone from the office came to look at it on a saturday. They couldn't fix it but we appreciated the effort.

Dream Tahoe House!

This was an amazing house. The kitchen, open layout, bedrooms, hot tub...were all amazing for our large group + beloved four-legged family members. The realty office was a little hard to find and we couldn't figure out how to turn on the lights in the house for awhile but definitely was user error. Note to anyone who stays there in the future -- the hot tub take a long time to warm up so plan accordingly! Overall it was a great place and is definitely the best place I've rented for large groups in North Lake!

Ourselves and another family rented the house for
ski week (5 adults, 6 kids) and it worked out
perfectly. the layout was great for everyone
(three nice bedrooms with access to bathrooms, a
bunkhouse that the kids loved). the location was
central to anything we needed (ski resorts,
groceries, shopping, the lake, etc.).
the property backed up to open forest, which
provided nice privacy and scenery. the hot tub was
used every day! we cooked in most nights and the
kitchen was great for cooking and entertaining.
ping pong in the garage was a bonus we had not
all in all, we would look to rent this place again

New Years Eve at the Thompson House

We had an excellent stay at the Thompson house for New Years Eve 2009, the rooms and house in general were perfect for our group and we thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, fire, media facilities and general living space. We also enjoyed the ping pong table which formed the focus for a very enjoyable tournament whilst we were there. I would highly recommend the house to anyone looking for a comfortable, spacious and homely base whilst staying in the North Tahoe area whether its for watersports in the summer or the awesome range of ski resorts on your door step in the winter.

Great place for a family reunion or a large group
Left on 01/12/2010 for a stay in January 2010 | Samantha
This home had everything we needed - beautifully appointed with a large great
room and dining area, comfortable furniture & beds and the perfect room for
all of the kids. Good separation of space, well stocked kitchen, plenty of
parking. The hot tub was one of the better models and was enjoyed by all. The
location was perfect as it backs up to hundreds of acres of forest for hiking
and snowmobiling right from the back yard.
The only negatives were that most of the TVs had VHS systems instead of a
DVD player, and be forewarned that the walls are thin and you can hear
everything happening in the next rooms or upstairs.
We would definitely rent this home again :)

Perfect For our Family

So far, we have found Agate Bay Realty to be efficient, helpful and easy to work with. The Thompson home was beautiful and very comfortable. We sat on the back deck and enjoyed the aroma of the pines, as well as complete privacy, which made us feel a sense of familial freedom. We played Clue in the morning and drank coffee, puttzed around the lake and went swimming in the community pool. Everyone enjoyed the wholesome atmosphere.
We like to cook and found the kitchen quite sufficient for our needs. Behind the house is forest, and we brought our small dogs who sat on the deck watching the chipmonks and squirrels chase each other about. A great time, so go!!! The place looks like a wonderful winter house too.

My family from three different states met up at Tahoe for a relaxing vacation. The Thompson house was perfect! Ideal for our family's wide-range of ages: from toddler to elderly. There's a bedroom/bath on the main floor that my physically-limited mom stayed in, with two bed/bath upstairs for the adults, and another room with 4+ beds for the kids located at the opposite end--perfect! Loved the open, spacious feel of the kitchen, dining room & living room with it's vaulted ceilings. The backyard is the forest, which is exactly what we wanted--the great outdoors, which was also the best exploring grounds for the kids. The area was quiet, safe-feeling, and conveniently located to all necessary amenities. We really ENJOYED our time at this home. Thank you!

This was a wonderful home for my family. Very clean and pleasant. It
has a huge wide open floor plan with the kitchen, dinning area and
living room. Downstairs room was great. Hang out for everyone. We
were able to watch the Olympics last summer while enjoying the hot
tub. Plenty of space for everyone. Our family loved it. The room with
all the bunk beds and T.V. was great. Kids played video games and
hung out while the adults enjoyed themselves downstairs. Space for
everyone kids, teens and adults to entertain. We had a great time. I
would highly recommended this home.

Our week at the Thompson House last year was one of the best
vacations I've ever had. We still talk about the wonderful feeling of
serenity the house and property gave us. From the open design, the
amazing rock fireplace, the cozy furnishings, the kitchen that had
everything one could need, the beauty and privacy of the back
deck...it was all perfect. The proximity to the lake and town was great,
and the pool and facilities were just a clock away.
How it could have been any better, I really don't know! We'll definitely
be back. Thanks much to the Thompson family for letting us share
