Nice cabin but in need of a few repairs

Left on 03/17/2013 for a stay in March 2013

The cabin is spacious and has a good location. We would have been fully satisfied had it not been for a constantly beeping broken fire alarm (called manager but did not receive response until past bedtime hour), very low pressure of flush in upstairs toilet, incessantly igniting burner on stove, and our inability to locate a few kitchen items that are normally present (i.e., dish towels, sugar, salt). It also struck us as a expensive. We rented a cabin the next week for half the price located not far from this one and did not go find that cabin to lack anything over this one.

      Nice property!

Left on 07/18/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We stayed at the Lakeside Cottage with our two adult children. The house is furnished nicely, with a well stocked kitchen, and two small bedrooms downstairs, with a large loft-style master bedroom upstairs. We enjoyed our stay very much, and spent quite a lot of time on the beautiful private dock, a few minutes walk from the house and the large outside deck at the rear of the house. This property is nicely maintained.

The location is good, a few minutes of driving from the local Safeway, and about 10 to 15 minutes drive to Tahoe City.

A few quibbles we had with the property were:
The upstairs master bedroom is totally open to the rest of the house--there is no door, with a stairway leading into it from below. We would have appreciated more privacy.

We stayed during a warm week in July, with temperatures over 80 each day. The rest of the house cooled down nicely, but upstairs was a different story, and despite running two fans and opening all windows, retained a lot of heat all night.

With all these windows open all night, street noise from the main road--less than 25 yards away, was pretty noisy.

We brought our bikes, but there are no safe bike paths near, so we needed to load them on the car and drive to the nicely paved path at Dollar Point to ride into Tahoe City and up the Truckee River. You can ride on the main highway, but there are a lot of hills and traffic to contend with.

      nice home, deceptive ad

Left on 08/25/2011 for a stay in August 2011

home is very nice. the ad is deceptive. you do not have a view of the lake. it is well offset with many trees between house and lake. wasnt a great value.

      misleading advertisement

Left on 07/15/2011 for a stay in July 2011

The home was fine. The owner helpful and nice. It is time to replace the beds in the secondary bedrooms if you want to put two people in them.
The main complaint was this was not lakeside. I did not expect lakefront but some view and proximity was certainly implied.
Apparently the lake is higher than usual but there was no beach either at the dock or by the house. What might have been a very small spot on the lake to sit was so covered with the owners toys you could not even sit down. The bouy was not at the the association dock where the boat shuttle is located so I was unsure of how to get use it if we had brought a boat.

Response from Pullen Rental Group - 07/20/2011

Thank you for your review! After reading your comments the owner revisited the bed size for each bedroom at Lakeside Cottage. Surprisingly, one of the beds was smaller than a Queen. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The owner is in the process of having this full size bed replaced with a Queen size bed. Homes in the Lake Tahoe region are "labeled" specific to their location to the lake. There is "lakefront" which is a home that sits right next to the lake and may or may not have a private beach available. There is "lakeview" which is a home that has a lakeview from their windows. Then there is "lakeside" which implies that the home is on the same side as the lake as opposed to being across the street/highway on the other side of the street. Lakeside Cottage was named for this location as it sits on the same side as the lake. From this home Lake Tahoe is a short walk down to the waters edge. Please excuse us if the name of the home seemed to be misleading. Currently the owner is allowing his rental guests to use his buoy for the summer of 2011 which is located on the lake by Lakeside Cottage. However next summer the use of the buoy will not be available. Guests can launch their boat at the Lake Forest Boat Ramp, SR 28, North of Tahoe City. Phone: 530-583-3796. Agate Pier and Swim Club does have buoy rentals available. We hope this brings a little more clarity to our customers for this home. Thank you again. We always welcome our guest comments. Excellent accomodation

Left on 01/05/2011 for a stay in December 2010

We were extremely pleased with our vacation at Lakeside Cottage. The location is convenient and the house has been recently remodeled. It is roomy, clean and comfortable. The fact that two of the bedrooms had queen beds and the master bedrooms king was a big plus. We highly recommend the Lakeside Cottage.
