This is a beautiful, spacious home, with a great location. Unfortunately it was a sad disappointment for an important family get together. My husband and hosted and we were humiliated by how dirty the home was top to bottom. A cursory surface cleaning left dust behind every corner and visible under all the furniture. Not good for family member suffering from mite allergies and asthma. It was really bad when i found both my 75 year old mother and my Husbands 82 year old mother on their hands and knees try to Remove the dirt. Every foot and every sock exposed to the hardwood floor turned black within minutes. The kitchen held was was not properly clean. Crud lurked everywhere, including all eating, cooking and serving items. The much touted wood burning fireplaces could be enjoyed because of the caked on grime in the chimney. Each set off screeching and unrelenting alarms when we tried ( and yes the flue was open.
Worst of all were the swarming ants. They were everywhere but they overwhelmed us in the kitchen. Repeated calls and text messages brought no relief. A caretaker actually accused us of delusions rather than addressing the problem. Just to be clear, we are talking about so many ants clustered so close together that thick black lines appeared up and down the walls and all over the counter tops. We even located where they were coming in through the plumbing and the wall. We cleaned that kitchen, really scrubbed it top to bottom. Within a short time they were back with reinforcements. Calls for help resulted in insults by caretaker and no help. We asked for an adjustment in rent and received no reply. We did get our security deposit-- no wonder, we left the house far cleaner than it was when we arrived. I have never complained about a rental house before. I don't want others to suffer what we suffered, including the in difference. If I still have the ant pictures I will post later if I am allowed.
