The owners do a lot to make your visit special. The cottage is well equipped with what you need for cooking and just enjoying life. It is up on the side of a mountain and the view from the balcony is spectacular. The flora is lush and colorful and the birdsongs cheerful. I wanted to take photographs of almost everything I saw. There are beaches and also beach side restaurants with very good food and thirst quenching rum punch. The climate is warm but the cottage always has a nice breeze. It's a bit of paradise.

Everything about our stay at Belair Garden Cottage was wonderful. Becca and Michael are great hosts and all the arrangements worked out perfectly. The cottage itself is spotlessly clean, bright, spacious, superbly equipped if you wish to cook for yourself and has an amazing view over the tropical gardens out to sea and the outlying islands. The location is ideal as in the hills at Belair there is a cooling sea breeze which is much appreciated and there were very few mozzies. You are handy for everything too. Only a few minutes into town and another few to Paradise Beach. Four days was not enough. I wish we had spent our whole 2 week holiday there. Do try Beccas food-her bread is amazing and the packed lunch we had was delicious, smoked marlin pasta salad, a taste sensation.

we are so glad we found this place, it was utter paradise, perched up on the hil, with wonderful view out to sea and the islands. constant cooling breezes, lovley inky black skies full of stars. the cottage is charming, like living in a large playhouse, bright colours, nice simple furnishings, all that one needs. outside shower fun and totally secluded.
it rained a lot at night while we were there, very cosy feeling in the cotage while the tropical rain beat down on the roof.
on last day we saw a large chameleon, lolling in the branches sunning himself, a special bonus.
we just loved Carriacou, gentle, laid back and we really want to return for a longer stay. so easy driving around, makes Grenada feel hectic!
the flight up was fun, flying up the East coast, wish we had taken the ferry back though for the experience.

Set up on the hillside with an amazing view this little cottage really is a special place. If you are looking to relax on a quiet and beautiful island this is the place to book. We spent an amazing 8 weeks here and whilst it is quiet we kept ourselves busy with amazing diving, stunning beaches and plenty of rum & coke on your own perfectly secluded balcony. Becca & Michael are the perfect hosts. Full of local knowledge and advise on things to do. Becca is a fabulous cook, and can supply lovely meals and fresh baked breads on request. Her molasses bread was amazing. If anyone has any specific questions let us know. We absolutely loved our time here and would definitely go back if the opportunity arose.

This cozy cottage is an ideal island getaway. Far from the hustle and bustle of Hillsbourgh, perched on a hillside overlooking the windward coast, this little gem is truly delightful. The breezes not only keep the mosquitoes away, but keep you cool year around. If you're lucky enough to be here for a full moon, the rising moon is spectacular. A rental car is recommended.

My boyfriend and I stayed here a couple years ago and it was absolutely fabulous! "Panoramic" or "million dollar" doesn't even describe the view that you will wake up to every morning. The cottage is nicely outfitted, just a touch rustic, which adds to the authenticity of the experience (the outdoor shower is a hoot). If you like silence and privacy and gazing out over the oceans and islands in the comfort of your own space, this is the place for you! The island itself is about as authentic Caribbean as you can get. Make sure to try the Jack Iron rum. There is great hiking, scuba, and of course beaching it right on the island, and the owners arranged for us to go out on a boat trip to a uninhabited key with white sand beaches and coconut groves - the real deal! - where we went fishing on the reefs and cooked up real islander coconut fish stew! Too much fun! Highly recommended!

Left on 12/22/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Staying at Belair Garden Cottage was fantastic and unforgettable: we had our own independent little house surrounded by luxurious, all-encompassing nature, a balcony with a beautiful view of the bay (and the one of the Grenadines); a constant breeze which kept the temperature cool and the mosquitoes away; a well-equipped kitchen with all the necessary cooking equipment. The outdoor shower was a real plus! The cottage is surrounded by banana trees, papaya tree, and other flora and fauna. Becca and Michael are great hosts, which really cared and wanted to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We also very much enjoyed Becca's delicious cinnamon bread and other fresh meals that were prepared upon request. A great address for those who are looking for tranquility, comfort and nature. Car or taxis are necessary to reach the Cottage, though, which is outside of Hillsborough, though the driver, Belair-based Dunston, was always on-time or even early (!) and very helpful. Also, be sure to book a tour of the island if you have never been there before, for at least half a day. Beware: upon checking out you will want to stay longer, as we did!

Felt like we were sleeping inside a safe jungle at night, awaking in the Garden of Eden in the morning, administered to by artistic spirits Becca and Michael, the owners), roaming an island lost in time during the day (including scuba diving on amazing reefs) ... what a place. This cottage is in such a spectacular setting, conceived by creative geniuses, and as honest, cute, and natural as it can be. The island of Carriacou is amazing through and through, but returning from a day of adventure and beauty to sip wine at sunset on the cottage's balcony while overlooking the lagoon and Petit Martinique is the icing on the cake.

What a great place to get away from it all peaceful and quiet, Becca`s amazing food, and a warm welcome from you both. The cottage is tucked away with beautiful views, and you can shower outside with humming birds! The cottage is colourful and well stocked and you could easily find a week slips past to quickly, we headed out most days to the beaches which had great snorkeling and no one else, and with a packed lunch spent some excelent days reading and lazing on the beach. All in all a great place and we can`t wait to return.

My husband and I stayed in this cottage many times. The cottage is comfortable & private, views fantastic and owners so welcoming. Becca's home made breads, yogurt, etc. were delicious! We always rented a jeep for our stay - but there is also a bus stop nearby. Carriacou is a beautiful island, the people friendly and the beaches uncrowded and gorgeous. If you want golf courses and large hotels, this island is not for you. You do have to fly to one of the larger islands on a commercial flight and then take a smaller plane to Carriacou but this should be seen as a positive, no large airport with crowds and best of all no cruise ships. If you want quiet, natural surroundings with gracious locals, try Carriacou.

The cottage is located in Belair, which is easy to get by car or public transport. It has a fantastic view from the top of a hill, down over Windward, Petit Martinique and up the Grenadines. It's secluded and quiet with no neighbours except Becca and Michael and a few large iguanas. The cottage is well planned and built, simple and comfortable. Becca makes delicious packed lunches on request.

Nevada City, CA 95959An idyllic garden cottage overlooking paradise
Left on 11/02/2011 for a stay in April 2011
Every morning at the Belaire Garden Cottage I was treated to the most amazing sunrise over the southern Grenadines. I could not have asked for a cleaner, tidier, more completely equipped vacation rental. Michael and Becca took great care in assuring I had everything I needed, with an added bonus of some tasty treats from Becca's kitchen.
Laying in bed, one looks out a window that perfectly frames the beautiful garden that gives the cottage its name ...fruit, flowers, lush and green. Doing my yoga stretches on the deck with a view of Petite Martinique and Petite St. Vincent was so wonderful, and the ocassional visits from the local parrots was a special treat.
The only shortcoming I can think of was due to my own choice of not wanting a rental car while on Carriacou, and so I was faced with walking up the steep driveway to catch buses.

Colchester, Essex.A peaceful paradise

The view from Belair Garden Cottage’ veranda on the island of Carriacou, 20 mins flight time by SVG air from Grenada, is likely one of the best views of the entire Grenadine archipelago – all the way up to St. Vincent – and is possible one of the most stunning views in the world. The cottage is based on a ‘Janet House’ (one of those clever prefab constructions shipped to Grenada after Hurricane Janet devastated the islands in 1954.) It is brightly painted, pretty and comfortable and lacked for nothing - what it doesn't have you don't need (like TV). Mike & Becca, the owners, are wonderfully helpful and kind and Becca's prepared meals are excellent, good value and ideal for taking on picnics. They even supply a pre-loaded mobile phone so you can call all the necessary numbers, taxis, boat hire, etc and the emergency service, should they ever be needed on this beautiful and safe island. You're right out of the way at Belair, so a vehicle is recommended. Exploring Carriacou is great fun even starting with hiring your essential Suzuki 4x4 from Mr Sunkey down in Hillsborough. The island is unspoilt by mass tourism, there are few hotels (and none of note) and frankly not a destination if you're interested in finer dining (save that treat for Grenada e.g. The Beach House and aquarium amongst others - young Rhodes' restaurant is okay too but pricy.). Recommended on Carriacou is Hardwood Cafe on Paradise Beach, for down to earth local food, as well as the sweet old ladies Bbqing chicken and ribs on an oil drum chargriller at the X roads in Hillsborough – Carriacou’s main town (pop: 600). In a town that small, you can’t miss ‘em. The roti shop in the high street is good too - try the lambi (conch meat) Roti, btw, is a wrap containing a mild curry of vegetables and whatever meat you fancy – mainly chicken or lambi. Drinkers are recommended to try (very carefully) the local Jack Iron rum. It comes direct from Barbados, just for C’cou. You’ll see it in supermarkets on Grenada but that's the supersanitized and weaker stuff – the real McCoy’s only to be found on Carriacou. Seek advice from Mike & Becca before buying (and trying) Some say it can be used to light Bbqs and as a fuel additive! Carriacou's beaches are idyllic - often you're the only person(s) on them and Paradise Beach deserves its name. A day long round island trip is highly recommended. Also a trip on the Osprey (ferry) to Petit Martinique is essential and the sight (from Belair) of the sun rising in the morning from behind it (or nearby Petit St Vincent) is utterly lovely. We spent two weeks on Carriacou and covered pretty much every inch of it and photographed it to death, so I'm happy to offer suggestions & answer any questions. I have a detailed review which I’d be happy to supply by email.
In short; Carriacou is the ultimate 'slow-down' destination; the inhabitants are gentle and helpful, & sometimes a bit shy. If driving, observe tradition & offer lifts to folks walking in the heat of the day. It's a great way of getting to know locals and to absorb some C'cou culture. Nb: Best view of Carriacou is from the hospital car park - a stone's throw from Belair Garden Cottage - a bit of paradise – oh how I wish I could be there – right now. -

WarsawBest honeymoon location we could dream of!
Left on 10/30/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We got to Belair Garden Cottage by chance as our reservation at another cottage was cancelled at the very last moment but it was the best misfortune that could have happened to us!
Becca and Michael are most friendly and helpful and made us feel at home from the very start. Becca picked us up from the jetty and brought to the cottage which appeared to be as lovely as practical, and (what is very important during the wet season) very airy. But the best thing about the cottage is the terrace: the view is magnificent and it is a great place to relax, enjoy the game of backgammon and listen to tree frogs in the evening. We also loved the idea of taking a shower outside the cottage. To sum things up, we wouldn't be able to picture a better place for our honeymoon. Many thanks to Becca and Michael for making our time on Carriacou unforgettable!Response from Rebecca Sawyer & Michael Ward - 11/12/2011

Hi There Anna & Stanislaw,
We are so delighted you chose our cottage as your honeymoon hideaway. We admire your determination, traveling all the way from Poland, to experience your first visit to the Caribbean. Carriacou seems to have left a very good impression on you both, proving it is worth the effort to get here. Perhaps you'll return for a future anniversary.
Cheers,
