Hummingbird Beach House is located just 50 ft from the delightful, unspoilt Feejay Bay where fishermen offer their catch of the day every morning. On the hillside behind the villa, two local families are your only neighbours. One of them, fisherman Allan can drop you on Sandy Island or prepare a beach BBQ exclusively for you. On the way from the village to the house, you pass one of our local bakery’s which provides fresh bread, coconut drops and other tempting goodies. You might be lucky and get fresh coconut or bananas from the trees in the garden.

The rental of Hummingbird villa was straight forward, people were waiting for us even though our flight was delayed.by a couple of hours.We were picked up by taxi and chauffered to the villa by a friendly taxi driver. The villa itself was quite stunning and it had a very modern open plan layout.The balcony had awesome views over the sea and was a lovely place for a glass of wine whilst watching the sunset.We got on well with the locals and bought some lovely fish from the neighbors. The fisherman in the next house took us out to Sandy Island which had some of the best snorkelling around. The garden was extremely dry when we visited due to the extended drought on the island but this enabled us to watch the land crabs and lizards. The location is very quiet
except for local goats and birds. We could only think of two minor things that were wrong with the villa, they didn't have a sharp knife to fillet the fresh fish and my wife said the kitchen work surface was rather high! -

Our group of 5 stayed at Hummingbird in Feb., 2011. The villa is new, & laid out very nicely. The 3 large bedrooms were spacious, & airy. King size beds for stretching out, fans, a/c, good sized bathrooms, with up to date showers, all provided easy living.
The kitchen/eating area is spacious, & well equiped - only thing missing is a coffee
percolator, as most guests are tea drinkers from the UK!
The outside sitting/living area is quite large, & comfortable - early morning, or afternoons sitting with a beatiful view of the ocean, sailboats coming & going, Union Island on the horizon, Sandy Island in the foreground, and your own secluded beach
just steps away.
Allan, he lives next door, & takes care of Hummingbird, fishes in the early am, & when he returns, will sell you any of his fresh catch. He is a great guy - he took us out fishing
one day, another day out to Sandy Island to swim, snorkel, & lay on the beach.
The town where Hummingbird is located, (L'Esterre), is small - we rented a car for our
stay - we like to explore - lots to see, lots of beaches, restaurants to try(good!), & in only
a few days, you feel like a local - everyone waves, talks to you - easy to get to know most
people because the island is small, so is the population, & everywhere is totally safe.
A quiet place to go - don't look for big nightlife, but some places to go & meet people,
also, many festivals, regattas. Enjoy - we did!
