We had a great time staying at this property. The apartment was comfortable and well-appointed. The walk to the old city was a little longer than we anticipated - more like 20 minutes. And we definitely would advise only doing the walk in daylight, not after dark.

hi i wood like to thank mabel and gladys as we our stay was excellent we love the condo the beds are the kitchen was excellent we love to be thier we had i few crazy happen to us in the old city some one stole my bag with my passport and i have to thank all the people in the canadian embbassy as they made every thing good i stayed and extra weekand i gut to see the country as friends of mine live in cali columbia who help me see that the real columbians are people who give from the heart as i love cartagena we be back so if you get to stay in the condo you will love it? but we had i good time the hot water for me took a few days to get working but when we told gladys she had it fixedso like i said i special thanks to mabel and gladys ps we are hoping to be thier in december this year yours truly colin tanner vancover british columbia canada

this place needs some love and care.
Positives: Across the street from the beach, wifi, satelite tv, air conditioning, owner takes paypal.
Negatives: Dirty Kitchen items, Dirty Balcony due to pigeon problem and little insects, hot water doesnt work in 1 shower and in the other has that hot/cold every few seconds effect, cracks all over the walls and a few holes, Balcony sliding door doesnt have a lock and isnt airtight, so you hear the whooshing of the wind all the time and have a constant breeze coming in, I left a message for the manager via telephone, and I still havent heard from her. Lucky Mabel answered my question via email that night and the security guard answered the other questions for me.
So, if a little love was put into this place, it would really be amazing. I would advise to bring dish detergant and a few basic cleaning supplies or buy them like I did. I only washed what I used, and didnt touch the rest of the items, cause it sort of has a thick dirty film, so we ate out alot and lived on sandwiches in the apartment.
I found the owner very nice and accommadating, but unfortunetly, she's in Miami, or the place might be in better shape, I dunno, Just my opinion :DResponse from Mabel Nino - 03/27/2013

Thank you for your review and for letting me know the different items that have to be taken care of...because I don't live in Cartagena, I do thank and appreciate all the constructive criticism from my guests...this helps me improve and fix any issues they find that need attention.
Be assured that all these problems will be addressed and corrected.
One detail I wanted everybody to know is that Liz's reservation was done on a really short notice, so when they got to the apt. the manager didn't have enough time to have it prepared and re-cleaned for the new guests. The apt. is cleaned after guests leave and is then again re-cleaned before the arrival of new clients that is why she found certain dirty places, like the balcony with the pigeon problem....the apt. is always re-cleaned before any guest arrival, precisely to avoid these issues.

let me tell you, you always hear horror stories about renting apartments on line and when you get there is nothing like it, this time i was surprised to find a beautiful place,clean and very well located, the price was great and my whole family congratulated me for picking the best apartment in Cartagena, i'm not making anything nor i'm getting pay to write this but what's fair is fair, i live in Miami and i travel a lot to Colombia and from now on this unit will be my favorite, also the lady in charge of the place i believe her name is Gloria is amazing, all went just great, thank you Mrs. Nino.

The apartment was as advertised. Great location and comfortable accommodations for 4 or more people. Check in was relatively easy. Communication prior with owner, Mabel Nino, was clear and prompt. She is fluent in English which helped. However communicating with on site manager could be an issue if you do not speak Spanish. I speak the language so there were no issues however I could see there being a communication barrier for those who may not. The only concerns I'd report is that there was no hot water, but it was so warm out that after a day or so we got used to it. We did notice that there was a hot water heater that we maybe could have adjusted to make the water warmer but we didn't want to mistakenly do so. Also only 1 of the 2 elevators at the apartment complex were functioning so getting up and down often took some time. Otherwise I'd recommend this apartment and would consider staying there again.

If you've never been to Cartagena, this apartment has an ideal location for just about everything, 1/2 hour walk to the Walled City, less than that to the tip of Bocqagrande for eating at the choice of 4 restaurants and watching the sun set. 1 block to a market to get provisions for your stay...Food, beer, and More. Across the street from one of the best beaches, Say hi to Geno at the beach bar/shack for anything your looking for on a good vacation. Gladys the manager can make your money conversions at bank rates and for simple people watching your are located around the corner from Juan Valdez coffeehouse. Take the master bedroom as the one with the single beds has an old TV without a cable connection and the sound system doesn't work because the electrical outlet is dead. The hallway bathroom also serves as a utility room with a piece of cardboard covering the hole in the window that serves as the exhaust vent for an appliance.The lite over this bathroom's sink doesn't work and the cheap plastic shower drains badly, but like I said, take the master bedroom and you'll be a happy visitor.
Finally, the location is 10 minutes and a $10.00 us taxi ride from the airport.Response from Mabel Nino - 11/20/2012

Hi everyone. thanks for reading my review. Hope it helps in your decision. First Mabel is a very nice woman. The condo was centrally located. Many restaurants within walking distance and about 12-15 min from the airport. Centro is about a 25 min walk or 7-8 min cab ride. It is directly across from the beach. the security people were nice. The ac, cable and wifi worked fine. The hot water worked and the bedrooms were spacious. The few things I would recommend would be updating the master bathroom and toilet, a few more hangers and having the staff explain how to use the safe. The place was clean, safe and quiet. I will definately stay here in the future and would suggest you do also.

Stayed three nights at this apartment. It is located in Boca Grande next to the Cartagena Plaza hotel right in front of the beach and has 24 hour security. There are several restaurants in the neighborhood and a supermarket 2-3 blocks away. The closet in the main bedroom is a metal wire type covered by a bathroom curtain and we found the bed uncomfortable. The air condition on the other bedroom was not working.
The lady in charge was good natured and offered to help but since we were only going to stay a short time we declined. We also saw a couple of bugs.
As for location, taxis are plentiful and inexpensive. If you intend on going to the beach this is a real good apartment to have.Response from Mabel Nino - 06/04/2012

Sorry Jose you had the issues you describe...we try to have the apt. in the best condition possible...We recently remodeled the apt. and the closet was one of the last things to be ordered, and should be in place very soon... as to the problem with the A/C, it has also been fixed.
In reference to the bed, it is the first time somebody complains about it, I have slept there may times and found it to be very comfortable...but will check on this to see if it is time to do something about it. We do fumigate the apt. periodically and keep it always as clean as possible.

Contacté a Mabel, después de haber visto su aviso en esta publicación.Me respondió rápidamente ,aclarando todas mis dudas en relación al alquiler temporal.La forma de pago fue expédita, por Pay Pal.El día del arrivo, llegamos tarde, sin embargo las llaves estaban en portería y el lugar se encontraba limpio y ordenado.Tiene dos dormitorios espaciosos, todo el piso es de porcelanato, lo que facilita la limpieza. Dos baños amplios, tres televisores con Tv cable, Wifi, , cocina con cubierta de granito, moderna.Terraza con vista al mar y a la ciudad de Cartagena.En la cuadra está todo el comercio que se necesita cuando se viaja con niños, dos supermercados, pizzería que cuenta con patio de juegos, etc.Taxis a la puerta del edificio, a un precio económico.Los pequeños inconvenientes ya se comunicaron a su dueña.En general, una experiencia excelente, con gente amable y correcta, que hace muy grata la estadía en Bocagrande, Cartagena.La Sra. Gladys, que es la encargada del apto. , tuvo la gentileza de venir a vernos a pesar de tener a su esposo enfermo. En resumen, altamente recomendable para todos los viajeros que deseen visitar esta encantadora ciudad.

We had a great stay in this Cartagena condo! The condo was perfect for our group that consisted of two couples in our mid-twenties. We were traveling to soak up the sun, try yummy food, and explore the sights of Colombia, so our location and the condo was great. It was nice being right on the beach, and the historic area was 5 or 6 pesos on average to get to, so it was cheap and convenient as well. There were great restaurants and even grocery stores right by it (especially the street behind it). The apartment was very clean and nice, and it was super easy to get the key from the manager upon arrival. I highly recommend this condo for those who want the beach and historic area experience! Thanks Mabel! I hope to make it back again!

The apartment was well kept clean and confortable, located in the middle of all tourist action, a short taxi ride to the old city, you can walk around any time of day and feel safe. I would rent this place again.

Excellent rental - large unit with all the amenities (full kitchen, washer/dryer, A/C, TV with many English channels, and WiFi). Balcony has a great view of the beach and Walled City. Conveniently located directly across the street from the beach and close to restaurants. Staff and building manager were very friendly.

It's hard to know where to begin but I will start with Mabel. She was wonderful! She promptly replied to phone calls and emails and that meant a lot to me. She also had to deal with me wanting to cancel my reservation, not cancel my reservation, change my dates and not change my dates. I was a pain. She was always very understanding and sweet. Thank you. From what I understand, the apartment was recently remodeled. It is nice and comfortable and a great deal for the money. I used the kitchen quite a bit and it was very functional. I didn't have a problem preparing our meals. I slept in the master bed and it was comfortable. Lots of shelves to use along with little baskets to put things in. Gladys, who checked us in, was nice. We enjoyed the area. Walked to restaurants,a grocery store and casinos. We also walked to McDonalds and Burger King when I wanted a taste of home. Lame, I know. We had a lot of fun on the beach out front of the apartment. There is also a bathroom and shower just beyond the guard shack that came in handy. Who wants to drag sand into the apartment up to the 7th floor just to use the necessary when you can just take a short walk to use the bathroom on the ground floor? There are 3 televisions in the apartment. While we didn't need 3 tvs, it was nice to lay in bed at night and watch. Luckily, there were some English channels. Again, thanks Mabel and I would be happy to stay there again.

The two bedroom two bathroom apartment was perfect. We arrived late in the evening and Mabel had arranged for the key to be left with the security guard. The location is right across from the beach and walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The Old City is close by and can be viewed from the balcony. Mabel is a conscientious owner and does what ever she can to make your stay an enjoyable one. She also has contacts in the building for more personal contact. Thank you Mabel for a wonderful vacation in Cartagena and for taking such good care of us. You can count on us returning.

El apartamento esta en un excelente punto de la zona turistica de Cartagena, cuenta con balcon con vista al mar,la playa y hacia la ciudad amurallada, una vista espectacular que evoca el romanticismo, el apartmento esta recien remodelado y bien dotado, con muy buenas habitaciones todas tienen ventilador y aire acondcionado. La sala comedor cuenta con aire acondicionado. La atención es muy buena.
En resumidas cuentas es excelente, no lo desfraudará y excelente precio.

The location of this building is excellent. The apartment is not a new place, but how much time do you really spend in the room. The apartment is very spacious with two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a kitchen and balcony.

It was a trip to Cartagena after 30 years. I would definitely choose to stay at this nice and comfortable apartment. It provided everything we were looking for. It is at an excellent location, and a modern feeling to it. The apartment has great ocean views and excellent breeze. Having this place so close eliminated the necessity to cook plus it saved us a couple of bucks since it was not that expensive. If you are looking for a place to stay in Cartagena, this is it; call the owner and find out what a nice person she is and the beauties that the apartment hold. Also the beach is just across the street where you can order fresh fried fish and nice cold beers. Also a good thing about this apartment is that food market, restaurants and shops are at a very close walking distance. Overall this is a great place to spend any time and if I ever go back to Cartagena I would not hesitate coming back here.

The apartment is pretty well located, near nice restaurants, supermarkets and shops. It has a great view of the sea and you can even see part of the historical town. You walk 50 meters and you are right on the beach, my parents in law loved it. Thanks Mabel for making our staying easier and comfortable at your apartment!
