Vancouver, CanadaSecond to none!
Left on 05/17/2013 for a stay in April 2013
As a regular visitor to Cartagena, I am used to stay in good and comfortable places. I have tried every area in the city and I know what to expect of each. Accommodation in downtown is charming but in general no spa or swimming pool facilities and they could sometimes lack basic things such as air-con which you really need if you are in a neighborhood surrounded by walls . Hotels and apartments in Bocagrande tend to be in good condition (specially if new) and in close proximity to some nice commercial areas but the beach is crowded not only with tourists but with locals trying to sell anything to you, also walking to the center could be quite long (over 30 min)
Every time I go to Cartagena I enjoy it. And this time, It was even more so as I was lucky enough to have found this gem of an apartment. It is well appointed, with excellent cleaning standards, good quality bedding and a hammock in the balcony (where I enjoyed every sunset). It is located on Marbella beach which is a long and calm beach (compared to Bocagrande), there is quite a nice gym and spa area in the building, and it is close enough to the center so you could take a walk if you want to. if you go for the cab alternative, there are plenty on offer in Cartagena. Each area in the city has its charm. But in this apartment we enjoyed all at a time. It will be my choice for a good while (I also found it to be good value for money!). Definitely, second to none. -

We loved it!
We stayed in this beautiful apartment with my wife and my parents for nearly a week. We had a fantastic time. Everything worked perfectly. It was was evident they thought of every detail in the apartment. from cork screw and complimentary coffee, to even offering us an unlocked mobile phone during our stay. We felt like at home. Truly recommended. -

Gainesville, FloridaSpectacular condo in Cartagena
Left on 04/02/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We stayed here for a week in March 2013, and absolutely loved the place. The six reviews we read before arrival described the condo perfectly, so we were expecting to enjoy our stay. However, it was even better than advertised! The balcony overlooking the beach is spectacular. My wife and I like to walk (a lot) when we travel, so we particularly enjoyed the location, about 10-15 minutes (walking) from the condo to the Centro Histórico. To make a long story short, if we go back, we're staying in the same place! And Lina was absolutely wonderful about answering questions, facilitating payment, etc., etc.

Vancouver, CanadaThis condo was like a home away from home!

First off, this was an absolutely beautiful place to stay. With incredible views on both sides of the building (the balcony overlooks the Caribbean Sea while the guest bedroom and entrance overlooks Marbella and Laguna de Cabrero) and top notch amenities, this vacation rental felt like I had hardly left home. A security doorman ensures safety in a less-than-desirable part of Cartagena, and Cuidad amurallada was a short 5-minute taxi ride away.
One thing myself and my friends were looking forward to was a beautiful Caribbean beach, and unfortunately, Marbella would be at the bottom of the list. Yes, the beach lies directly in front of the condo, though on warm days we saw overcrowding, rocky sand, and trash littering the shoreline.
The beds were slightly firmer than anticipated, though not unbearably so. Also, if you plan to use the laundry machine, be aware that there is no dryer, and you will be forced to air dry your clothing (not a big deal, though in the humidity in Cartagena took an average of 6 hours for everything to dry). And it goes without saying, the lady in charge of your orientation speaks only Spanish, so if you're not fluent, you're out of luck.
Marbella itself is not exactly the best neighbourhood, though we did enjoy its proximity to many of the city's attraction. Some people might enjoy the sounds of the city (e.g., loud music and partying in Marbella every night), though after about four days, it became a minor annoyance. Also being on the 22nd floor of the building created some air pressure problems, as having more than one window/exterior door open at any given time will create a change in the pressure and violently slam shut every interior door... not the condo owner's fault, just something to be aware of. There seemed to be a constant whistling coming from the master washroom's window, most likely caused by an insulation issue.
We did sincerely appreciate having been presented a number of phone numbers and references to enhance our stay, though the best I can suggest is that if you are planning on a day trip to Islas del Rosario (or Barú), do not use the phone number provided by the condo owner. It refers you to the Cocoliso travel agency in Bocagrande which charges a reasonable price (cop$45,000 minimum/person), but I would highly recommend you avoid going through this agency. Our trip was a miserable two-and-a-half hour boat ride on Yate alcatraz II, in which the we went out to the Oceanario Islas del Rosario for less than an hour, spent another hour getting to Barú (in which we witnessed four people vomit due to the rocky ride) and a 45-minute stay on Playa Blanca before we were forced back onto the yacht to Cartagena. All around, that was the worst part of our visit; so, if you want to go to Islas del Rosario, find someone other than who was recommended. -

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay in this apartment. The bus drivers/cab drivers had a bit of a problem locating at first, but I like the location. It was a 6,000 peso ($3 USD) cab ride to the old city, which was great. Cartagena is wonderful, and it was nice to come back to the apartment and relax on the balcony or out by the pool. Lina was excellent to work with in booking the property. Zuny, the person who let us into and out of the apartment, was wonderful as well. I'd definitely stay here again! The sofa bed is actually comfortable too!!!

Washington DC, District of ColumbiaChanged my mind

As a frequent traveler to Cartagena, I was upset to find out where this property is. When I found the listing on the site- I was sure it said it was more near to Bocagrande than it actually is. When I normally come to Cartagena, I stay in Bocagrande, so that's what I am used to and familiar with. It has more things going on, more people vacationing in the area and there was always something going on into the late night.
This property is actually in Marbella. There's not much going on , not many other vacationers and after 10 pm it gets pretty quiet, except for loud music from the neighborhood barrios. In other words- I loved it! All the other tourists are confined to Bocagrande (and parts of La Boquilla), the food is much more typical and colloquial, and the beaches are free and clear of beach merchants. This is an area that was perfect for us and we were able to interact with the people of the neighborhood and not be bumping shoulders with a bunch of tourists. I like feeling the hear and soul of a place and this area feels more like Cartagena. I have changed my mind will never stay in Bocagrande again. Plus, we took sunset walks to the old city every night and loved it.
I won't even discuss the stunning views. No picture will do them justice and I don't have the words to describe them either. -

LondonA lovely apartment in a beautiful city
Left on 03/31/2012 for a stay in February 2012
My husband and I had stayed in the old town of Cartagena on a previous visit, but this apartment easily superseded the charm of an old town hotel. On the beach front, with easy access to the beach and the old town itself, it has a view to die for, fresh ocean air and the convenience of a brand new luxury apartment. You can't ask for more. Lina was also very helpful throughout the booking process. Highly recommended.

Me and my husband had one of the most relaxing and great experiences in our stay in Cartagena. The apartment had everything we needed and the view was beautiful!
Sunset at the pool and jacuzzi, nice and comfortable bedrooms, and you could take a shower watching the sea! I strongly recommend this apartment.
