Calgary, Alberta, CanadaA bit disappointing
Left on 02/12/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We rented the 3rd floor 2 bedroom apartment (45 steps up to it) although we were only a couple. Booking was a breeze; Rick was quick to respond to any queries; our airport pick up was waiting for us, in spite of a long delay looking for lost luggage. Cristina showed us the apartment and was very kind to go to the airport to collect our luggage once it had been located. We were so grateful for that! The 2 bedrooms were great - large, comfy beds and lots of pillows. The small living room was adequate although the canopy over the sofa was torn, dusty and quite discolored. The balcony, with 2 chairs and a small table, did provide a nice view, but the floor did need a good scrub thanks to the next-door resident pigeons. Thanks for the good quality saucepans in the kitchen which generally was quite well equipped although dishes were quite limited (e.g. only 2 cereal bowls). Great to have a washer and dryer and laundry soap available. The large dining room table was ideal for itinerary planning. The bathroom needs some work. The light switch hangs from the light bulbs over the sink and rests only on a narrow ledge to prevent it from falling - which it did when were were there. We replaced the broken part. The shower needs a good cleaning - built-up soap scum on the walls, etc. The towels were fine. Unfortunately, road construction was on-going during our stay, with 24 hour construction for seven nights making it nearly impossible to sleep, and no water for several hours.. Rick, of course, was not responsible for these inconveniences but perhaps he could have offered some recompense such as a free night or two, or perhaps a meal in a good restaurant. We contacted him about the construction and he commiserated with us and asked that we contact him again when our stay was completed. We did, but have not received a reply. We might recommend this apartment to friends, but it would be with certain reservations. Given the pictures in the ad, we had hoped for something a bit more up-market and were a bit disappointed that it didn't fully meet our expectations.

New York City, New YorkIt's all about the location
Left on 09/21/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We travelled with our 2 yo and also had a friend stay with us, in the arco chato room. It's 2 storey's and very roomy, 1 bedroom and bathroom upstairs and they brought a single bed for my friend downstairs which also had a bathroom. Nice sized kicthen and full airconditioned, clean and comfortable. There is also a small lift/elevator so it's accessible for elderly travellers or if you have heavy luggage.
The service is great and happy that they had a contact who picks you up from the airport. This was handy as our flight got delayed by 3 hrs and our driver made sure the late night travel and check in went as smoothly as possible. We stayed for 5 nights and they did clear the bins once in a while but if you needed fresh towels or anything, they are happy to provide
The location is in the heart of casco viejo and very accessible to great restaurants in the area and very close to small supermarkets if you need anything. It was easy to hail a taxi and prices always given by our host were accurate.
The staff were always willing to help us and we enjoyed our stay there. The room we stayed I think was perfect if you're travelling with a kid, we could still chat with our friends and they had an open alcove area where we set up our crib.
Note at night time, it can be quite noisy, panamanians tend to be out much later through the night/early morning. The casa itself is quiet, we never heard any neighbours
Safety/Security wise, the area is very safe as the President's quarters/house is just across from the casa so security guards surround the area. We felt very safe. There is also a safe in the upstairs room closet but we never used it.
Overall we enjoyed Casco Viejo area and after travelling thru the city areas and surrounds I"m glad we chose this location for our visit there.Response from Apartments Casa Antigua, Casco Viejo Panama City - 11/08/2012

58451comfortable loft apartment, with roof top view of Panama City
Left on 12/04/2011 for a stay in November 2011
Great location in Cosco Viejo within walking distance of the old city, and the new waterfront park along Balboa avenue. Small kitchen and comfortable area to relax. The manager was very helpful and accomodating as we arrived very late on a Sunday night.
Small restaurant and bar in first level of building with good food.
Amazing amount of reconstruction going on in the old city as the leave the old spanish appeal on the outside and redo the inside.
We were concerned about being safe in this part of town, no worries. There are police walking the streets and all over the area day and night. Everyone we talked to said it was no problem. -

Torontohidden gem, modern apartment in the old town of panama city
Left on 09/17/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Highly recommended these apartments in a unesco world heritage site, a great starting place to see the city and country, or somewhere to stay before heading to the airport. It was a great value and experience. Food at the restaurant on the street level was excellent and reasonably priced. The owners/operators are very friendly and speak english. All of the apartments have access to the rooftop patio which has an amazing view of the city.
