Description from the manager

Cristoforo is a pretty little cottage, on the west wall of Casole d'Elsa, a wonderful Tuscan village with 3 bars, 4 restaurants, grocers and the essential hand made ice-cream shop. There are also a village swimming pool and tennis court, on the edge of the village but within easy walking distance. Cristoforo is lucky enough to have a wide garden within the village walls, with flowers and fruit trees, a barbeque, furniture for sunbathing and outdoor eating, and a shower for cooling off on hot days under the Tuscan sun. Beyond the garden is a residents' car park, but Cristoforo guests have their own parking space just next to the house. From th...Read more

      Happy Birthday

Left on 02/05/2013 for a stay in October 2011

We dreamt of this trip for our 60th. The first two weeks of October were heavenly. Host prepared a 7 course Tuscan meal for our last evening. Olive oil tastings, marvelous food, beautiful art, and wonderfully convenient. We love Cristoforo.

      Fabulous time in Cristoforo

Left on 09/27/2011 for a stay in September 2011

My husband and I had a great time in the Cristoforo villa. The town is a great place to call home while touring the surrounding area. Anna was a great host and had the villa in great shape for us. She met us upon arrival, gave us some information about the area, cooked for us and generally was available if we needed her. This was our second visit and rental with Invitation to Tuscany and both places were fabulous! We especially liked Cristoforo because of the small town of Casole d'Elsa. It was great having the real life experience of living in a Tuscan village.

A nice accomodation in a lovely town.

Left on 09/27/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Cristoforo was a clean little cottage although the towels and linens should be replaced. Warning to anyone with a cat allergy. There are 2 stray cats constantly hanging around and we felt that they had been in the cottage as well. We were a little worried about fleas. if you want to cook, the kitchen is well stocked. There is no wi fi and our teenagers were a little bored but the town had internet at a cafe. You definitely need a car rental so you can move around the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Lots of great little towns to explore. All in all, a great experience but we would have preferred a hotel if there was one in town. The washing machine was a definite benefit though!

      Tuscany Experiance

Left on 09/27/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Booking into the cottage was very good and the host most helpful.
The cottage had lot's of character and was comfortable. The garden could have been better cared for.
The location and the village was excellent and the people very friendly and helpful.
The local entertainment was very good and the restaurants we found excellent. Touring the area was a delight and made the holiday an experience we will never forget.
The visits to Siena were very good and far superior to Florence which we found to be a big rip off

House with character in pretty medieval town

Left on 10/21/2010 for a stay in August 2010

Casole d'Elsa is a beautiful town, not too far from San Gimignano. We loved this house - full of character and stylishly furnished. We would happily go back.

      Relaxing, comfortable, beautiful location

Left on 10/11/2010 for a stay in September 2010

Lovely home; excellent manager to welcome us; Casole D'Elsa was a perfect place to stay a week in the middle of a busy travel itinerary. Day trips easy and interesting from here. Traveled with my 23 yr. old daughter who enjoyed the home as well. We both loved the kitchen and the ability to cook!

      Christoforo Experience

Left on 05/03/2010 for a stay in April 2010

From the moment we arrived the owners looked after all our needs. The house is comfortable with all amenities and brilliantly situated at the back of the village. Fantastic views across a valley to Volterra and San Giminagno. If you want to day travel the house is within easy distance of Sienna and the Chianti district. The village Casol D'Elsa is a lovelly village with all shops and restaurants available. There is also a very well set up museum with displays from excavations in the local area.
We enjoyed the village very much and found the locals to be welcoming and friendly. The house was comfortable and having the parking availability and the backyard add to the ease of your holiday. The owners were very responsive to our needs and provided useful advice.

      Unforgetable!

Left on 06/29/2009 for a stay in September 2007

This was our first trip to Italy, and the thing we most wanted was to really experience the "true" Italian countryside and it's people. The Cristoforo and Casole D'elsa gave us exactly what we wanted. Great facility, beautiful village, and magnificent-gracious people. On our first evening we were enjoying a glass of wine along the village wall watching a Tuscan sunset. An elderly lady who was a retired teacher and lifelong resident of the area began a conversation with us and an hour later she had revised our agenda for the Tuscan part of our trip so that we could "truly experience the heart and soul of Tuscany." We followed her recommendations and returned home with the experience of a lifetime. We can't wait to go back to Cristoforo.

      A little like heaven

Left on 06/19/2009 for a stay in October 2007

This was my second visit to the village of Casa d' Elsa and I can't imagine a more perfect place in all of Tuscany. From there we planned a day trip each day to surrounding towns and winerys but were always sure to be back by dark so as to enjoy our wonderful villa and all the village has to offer. Christforo is a perect example of old world architecture and has all the charm you would expect of a grand home (it was a former Opera house) and comes compete with the balcony where the orchestra played. The owners were absolutely charming and arranged for a delivery of firewood for us. My only regret was that we couldn't spend more time with them. We would have a fire each night in the sitting room and even had a fire in the kitchen grill to cook our dinner one night. The home is actually 6 stars!!! and there was nothing we didn't like.

      Hi Paulette,
thanks for this lovely review, but from your description I think you are talking about Carlotta! Cristoforo and Carlotta are both lovely, but one is a small cottage looking out from the village and the other is right within the village and has that wonderful large room with the music players balcony above it. Not sure if I can shift the review over but thanks again for taking the time to write in. kind regards, Dan W.

      Incredible experience

Left on 06/04/2009 for a stay in May 2007

From the moment we arrived, we felt home in this wonderful, friendly village. High on a hillside, it provided a warm, interesting, and very comfortable home base for our constant roaming of the amazing surrounding countryside. The hosts were attentive, the home was amazing, the people sublime. There were all the services we needed steps away, and the location was convenient to all the traveling. Walking the area was incredible, and it was truly one of the best and most romantic travel experiences we've ever had. I highly recommend it and wish we were there right now!

Hugh Barton w/ Invitation To Tuscany recommended this property to us based on our desire to have a location we could day trip from. Outstanding property. Very clean. Comfortable. Wonderful veiw over the contry side. Great little hill town. We would go back!
The owners cooked dinner one night(for a reasonable fee) that was fantastic and we still talk about.
Location allowed us to day trip all over central Italy, not just Tuscany.
