Castagneto Carducci is located in the heart of the Etruscan Coast perched on a a hill overlooking the surrounding countryside and the sea. The medieval castle and the Church of San Lorenzo are the two oldest and still well preserved buildings. The history of this medieval village is linked to the important Gherardesca family. The streets of this village were developed in concentric rings starting from the castle in the upper part, originally surrounded by walls. There are cobbled streets, natural terraces overlooking the sea and the countryside, beautiful squares, ancient craft shops, characteristic restaurants and cafés.
