Villa del Golfo met and exceeded all our expectations. We booked for a week at the end of Sept. for our final stop in Sicilia, but were so pleased with the lovely owner, Paola, the location, and the villa, that we extended our stay for 4 more nights. There were only the 2 or us, so we stayed on the main floor, which had 3 bedrooms and 1-1/2 baths. Everything was spotless and comfortable. Paola doesn't rent out the upper floor when there are guests on the main floor, and there is an internal staircase, which gave us access to the laundry room and the upstairs stand up shower, as well as a beautiful balcony. Paola met us at a restaurant in town and took us up the hill to the villa, and brought a wonderful light dinner over that evening. She treated us like family for our whole stay, and I have to say, she (and her son and friends) gave us a 30th wedding anniversary trip we'll never forget. We've rented villas 4 times before in Italy as well as France, and this was absolutely the most wonderful holiday ever. We feel that thanks to our wonderful hostess/owner that we truly experienced the real Sicilia. Will definitely return to Villa del Golfo. Thanks, again, Paola.

The villa was exquisite - marble and tile everywhere; spacious, clean, beautiful rooms; fig trees (delicious), olives, lemons, beautiful grounds. The view of the sea was fantastic. But, by far, the best part of this accommodation, which you will find nowhere else, was the owner, Paola, and the rest of her family. They are Siciliy! Their english was impeccable. Their assistance with car rentals, boat rentals, restaurants, etc. was invaluable and went far beyond the call of duty - driving us to pick up the car, accompanying us on a boat trip to translate, etc. etc.
The walk to the beach, or to shops, was a breeze.
And be absolutely sure to order your first night's meal from Paola - she is a fantastic cook!
There were 10 of us, so we rented the entire villa. But if you are a smaller group either upstairs or downstairs are both deserving in their own right.
Can't say enough good things about this place. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. -

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed the Villa. We stayed at the downstairs unit with the massive patio overlooking the beautiful Golfo. The place was clean and comfortable and the owner and the local property manager were most helpful to our every need. There was a wonderful and enjoyable lunch feast waiting for us when we arrived. Except for the occasional power outage when we used both air conditioners, the accommodations were more than adequate for our needs. We were especially thankful for the Wifi connection and the proximity to the beaches. Although the surrounding eateries and services were more than adequate, we found that the grocery store closest to the highway had clerks that were friendly and accommodating for our lack of the Italian language. The closest market did not have that same friendly attitude. Castellammare was a perfect location for us to be near the beaches, boating, Scopello, Segesta, Trapani, & Erice, which we thoroughly enjoyed. I would highly recommend this warm and accommodating villa.

Lovely owners who were very friendly and gave us a fascinating insight into the Sicilian way of life. The apartment was spacious and in a great position. The villa is close to town but has a great view of the sea and an amazing mausoleum, which I painted.
The towns people were very friendly and I was amazed that Western Sicily had so many interesting historical places to see -

Villa owners Paolo and her husband's knowledge of the region was invaluable and truly appreciated as this was our first time in Sicily. They did everything possible to make our stay special - they even found a birthday cake for us when all the shops were shut. As for the villa, this clean, spacious property overlooks the sea and is within easy access to restaurants, shops and 2 beaches! If you're feeling more adventurous, hire a car and take advantage of this great location to explore the wider region's amazing sites and natural beauty!

The warm, friendly welcome and delicious lunch provided by Paola and her husband instantly made us feel at home and set the tone for our holiday. This comfortable, well equipped and spacious Villa is a great base for exploring the amazing cultural and gastronomic delights of Western Sicily. The garden has bay, lemon, olive and fig trees, roses and lavender. Within walking distance of town, we enjoyed shopping and eating out locally too. Everyone we met was so friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. The scent of orange blossom in the garden will always remind us of a lovely, memorable holiday.

We rented the complete villa for five adults and were welcomed on arrival with the most wonderful local food for lunch. All the bedrooms are of good size and there is plenty of space to relax both inside and out. We were able to walk to local bars and restaurants but as we had a car, we also explored - there is so much to see and it is so unspoilt. The owners happened to be around while we were staying and they took time and trouble to recommend places and in fact took us out to some we would never have found ourselves.
We will definitely go again. -

What a lovely, clean beautiful villa. We had hired the upstairs and downstairs villa as there were more than 10 of us. We found the location excellent, close enough to walk to the beach, shops or marina.
The villa grounds were really nice and we were able to enjoy a few BBQ outside in the evenings.
We have some family who live near by the villa so it was close enough for them to visit us everyday.
In fact we like it that much we have booked the whole villa again for this July. -

We stayed at the Villa Del Golfo in windy, rainy February--but the villa was so lovely and he people of Castellammare were so warm and welcoming that we had an excellent time in spite of the weather. We are already planning a return trip.
We were delighted with everything we found at the villa, it is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and well equipped. The best part was walking into the villa for the first time and being greeted with a big smile by the on-site manager, Guiseppina. We were tired from our long flight, Guiseppina had a delicious Sicilian meal ready and waiting. What a wonderful treat!
The villa is large, comfortable and inviting. The grounds are well maintained and the blue-green golf waters are laid out before you like a perfect postcard. We loved picking lemons and oranges from our own trees. The villa is also within walking distance of the grocery store, several shops and caffe bars. In each shop, the staff went out their way to see that we were well taken care of. Our thanks go out to them all.
The best part of the trip was being able to stay in a small town where we saw the heart of Sicily in the people we met. Before our trip, I thought it was "always sunny in Sicily." At first it seemed that the rainy February days were proving me wrong, but now I realize that the warmth of Sicily is in the hearts of the Sicilians. I will never forget them or our trip.

We had a great time at Castellammare del Golfo. We really enjoyed the place. The kids loved the beaches. My wife, never got tired of watching the ocean from the terrace by our bedroom. And the house was a great base for further adventure trips in the area. Paola, the hostess, made us feel very welcome with a Norwegian flag in the living room plus a delicious warm meal waiting for our arrival. She was very helpful through our stay. All in all, 9 days in Castellammare del Golfo was way too little. We will definitely be back another year. Geir Weggersen

NorwayWonderful villa with a fantastic view
Left on 08/06/2010 for a stay in July 2010
The villa is perfect travelling with a group of 11 persons as we did. Clean and well equipped. Located in the hillside above the sea with a fantastic view of the sea. Walking distance to the centre of Castellamare and with a nearby supermarket and a butcher. Paola arranged a van waiting for us at the airport wich was quite comfortable, but it could also be smart to rent at car to get around a bit.
Even if the distance to the most popular sandy beaches isn't so long we found it to be bit too hard with too much traffic for small children, but it is some rocky/stony beaches straight down from the villa that we used a lot.
We have already recommended the villa to friends.
