TorontoYou'll love it here - totally relaxing Tuscany
Left on 08/10/2012 for a stay in July 2012
14 wonderful days at Casa Serena and wish we were back. Terry was a wonderful stand-in host (on behalf of the owners) and made us feel like welcomed family. The cottage is cozy and well appointed.
The property is clean, rustic but charming and you can immediately feel the Tuscan life-style. Two good size bedrooms - one double with amazing views and the second arranged with twin beds with a view of the olive grove. Comfy beds, plenty of storage space. A large sitting room (although we spent all of our time on the outside terrace and gardens).
The views are amazing and the private pool is the perfect venue on the hot summer days. Lots of things to do and see within half and hour to an hours drive. Loved being in a place that was so private and yet close enough for shopping and restaurants.
There are a couple of local markets not to be missed. Castiglion on Fridays, Camucia (Cortona) Thursday (really good) and Cortona on Saturday. Perfect fresh produce to bring home and prepare a great Italian dinner. We used the small barbecue for many of our meals here, but the kitchen is well equipped
access to the house is via a main and white road - about 2 km to the shop (nice croissants in the morning) and nearest restaurant. It was (for us) an easy drive and the views - especially coming down the hill are just wonderful.
For us this was a lovely experience and as we hope to come back one day -
you `LL love it here!!! -

We had been looking forward to our vacation in tuscany for long while and when it came to arriving here, we were just about ready for 10 days of relaxation and catching up on a few good book, eating as much of the local produce that we could find - including some lovely local wine from Santa Cristina.
This little house offererd us all that we had hoped for. Privacy, quiet and a peaceful environment for us to enjoy. The property has two bedrooms, furnished rustically but with very comfortable beds and views from each of the bedroom windows. The sitting room was a cool oasis and the kitchen easy access to the terrace where took most of our meals.
The pool was of course a focal point, but the scenery that surrounds this place is ever changing and "serene". We thoroughly enjoyed being here and made every day a special one.
If anything, the downside would be the need for a few more reading lamps - especially when getting close to needing reading glasses.
All in all a very welcome break and one which was truly relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable.
Oh, and if you do need to visit somewhere, we thought Cortona and Pienza were lovely. -

This is the third time of visiting Tuscany and the second to stay at Casa Serena.
It is a little off the beaten track - about 1 mile to the bar/shop, but once there it is totally restful and is the perfect place to recharge our batteries and enjoy the Tuscan countryside in all its glory.
The pool is a key feature, along with the views and surrounding olive groves and gardens, and it where we spend most of our time. The small barbeque is perfect for al-fresco dining and the terrace provides a lovely setting for us to relax.
Inside, the house is rustic but charming. The beds are very comfortable as is the sitting room (if a little dark)and the kitchen has all we needed for to make ourselves totally at home.
A new and welcome addition this year is the laundry room with both a washing machine and, an old style Italian scrubbing sink (just in case you want to work during whilst here).
The local restaurant - 1 mile away, Valle Ristorante is also a new feature. It is a family restaurant and perfect if you are not wanting to drive the 3 miles into town (where you find many shops, restaurants etc).
For the more adventurous and less lazy, the towns of Cortona, Pienza and arezzo are very interesting and worth a visit.

AarhusFantastic views and very peaceful place for the family
Left on 04/14/2012 for a stay in September 2011
We stayed at Casa Serena for 9 nights and enjoyed our stay immensely. The property is a small private house with two bedrooms in many hectare of olives and countryside.
This is a fabulous location and was ideal for the family of four of us. Fantastic views and very peaceful. In fact our only regret was that it was so relazing that we never really explored much of the surrounding area except for Cortona, Arezzo and a wine tour in Montepulciano.
To sit outside in late September was a real treat and the pool was still comfortable to swim. and play.
The house has two bedrooms. The main bedroom has comfortable double bed with great view and is relatively spacious. The second bedroom has two very large twin beds - perfect for kids. The kitchen has everything we needed and the bathroom was also good.
From the house there are many walks and everywhere you look it is absolutely stunning. Down the hill is a nice restaurant and cafe . It is about a 15 minute drive to the main town with more shops, restaurants and bars.
A really good family vacation, peaceful and relaxing. -

Inviting, comfortable, authentic and friendly. We had a fabulous week at Villa Serena and our hosts could not have been more helpful, providing us with lots of local knowledge and advice. A small welcome pack of oil, bread and wine was a nice touch and the up to date information in the house was really useful. The property is situated in a beautiful part of Tuscany and it has a lovely secluded garden (acres!) where you can truly relax and get away from it all - the views are quite spectacular and the sense off calm is just marvellous
However, you can easily take day trips to Cortona, Montepulciano, Arezzo, Pienza and more if you aren't one for sitting around. There are a number of fantastic villages where you can experience the true delights of the area, we really enjoyed the the more scenic drive to aruzzo where we sat enjoyed coffee in a bustling market. We also visited La Verna (the sanctuary for Francis of assisi).
Just a short drive there is a small supermarket, bar and pizzeria. We stocked up in the larger supermarket in Castiglion and used the kitchen every other night.
Well definitely be recommending Villa Serena to any of our friends taking the long haul to Italy. If you like authentic Tuscan country life, peace and quiet, and a good location - book up you'll love it. -

Absolutely spectacular ! just about 2 kms away from everything but yet a a place providing absolute peace and quiet. Views of the historic town and just about everywhere you look you are at your ease with all the wondrous countryside that is Tuscany!
The villa has the two rooms (one double - the views from the bed - just lovely and one twin which was-perfect for Brian and Tom), clean, warm, roomy and very well equipped ( except for no kettle for tea... ) The fireplace was also a nice touch for the cooler evenings.
Although Easter was a little chilly, the outside was still a fun place to be, lovely open space and the pool just a few steps away must surely spoil anyone here in the summer.
The local town of Castiglion has a market on Fridays and Cortona on Saturdays - both worth a visit - fresh produce - and everything tasting wonderful, Just down the hill is a bar, shop and a restaurant serving local cuisine. Try the pasta with grated truffle !
This is a perfect place for a young family - looking for a combination of rest and as a base to explore or, perhaps for a romantic getaway - but we will have to wait a few years for that!
Highly enjoyable and a nice introduction to Tuscan county life

Simple and lovely villa in the middle of an olive grove, perfect views and welcome pool.
We loved our vacation time here. After a two week rush across Italy (Venice, Rome, Amalfi and Florence), this was the perfect place to sit back and relax and enjoy the Tuscan country.
The villa has two bedrooms, one with an old fashioned antique bed - but new mattress ! The furnishings are comfortable and fit in with the Tuscan country.
Most of our time was spent outside - enjoying every minute of the quiet and bucolic setting here. Absolutely wonderful. We left, feeling totally relaxed and energised -

A great find and so peaceful. This little villa was the perfect escape for us over the holiday and experience a 'Tuscan Christmas' .
The owner met us at the small market and took us up to the villa. He had obviously just come from there, as when we entered the villa, the fireplace provided a great welcome and, there was a pile of wood ready should we need it. It was a lovely welcome and provided us with lots of tips of local markets, places to visit and the local festivals.
The villa was clean, well appointed with simple Tuscan furnishings, comfortable beds, and a kitchen with everything we needed.
Although a couple of properties were reasonably close by, the villa is set in its own private acreage with a clear view of the town of castiglion and beyond. Many lovely walks, vistas and complete relaxation and peace.
We can imagine how wonderful the gardens are during summer with the private pool just a short walk away from the terrace of the villa.
We really enjoyed this little "peace" of Tuscan Heaven.

A great find for us. Looking for some peace and quiet and this place served a large portion, and good value too.
Not so remote, but tucked away on a hillside in the Valley of Chio this little villa/hose had everything we needed - a lovely pool, some fantastic scenery, great walks, and not so far from some of Tuscany's famous hill towns Cortona, Montepulcinao and arezzo.
The villa is almost hidden from view in its own grounds - olive groves, peach trees and some old vineyards come to mind but there is an abundance of colour and natural beauty which makes tho place so special.
The pool though is the focal point and well used during our stay. The pool was checked over once a week and made to look great. The only problem we had was finding the pool lights (which we did on the second to last night!0.
Inside was clean and homely with Tuscan furnishings and comfortable beds. There was an open fireplace (no doubt useful for the fall and winter).
The owners were friendly and helpful too - advice on local fares and restaurants and even managed to get a wine tour organised at short notice.
A great find.

An enjoyable and relaxing two weeks.
We felt spoilt having this place to ourselves. The pool, the views, the peace and quiet - hearing birds sing - incredibly relaxing.
Also perfect for our daily walks. There are many trails around here and each one seemed to give better views than the last.
A new restaurant down the hill opened the second week - a real plus for us. The other restaurants are in the town of Castiglion which were also very good.
Relaxation and a taste of Tuscany was the reason for our trip and we found it!

This was was perfect for us, situated just outside Castiglion Fiorenitno, which has good access to all the famous places in Tuscany and Umbria. The apartment had everything we needed and because the owners were keen to help - before we arrived - we felt a little more special.
Set in an olive orchard, the villa is sits along a hillside and has great views - particularly driving down o the town! .
The pool was open for a about 3 weeks before we arrived = and hadn't reached a high temperature, but the boys loved it any way!
The bedrooms were clean, bright and standing at the window in the morning looking out onto the olive grove was relaxation from the start.
The little bbq was a great asset for some fun meals, although there is a restaurant about 1 mile away and many more in the town and a couple of wineries for good local wine
a good 10 day vacation!

We would like to say we enjoyed our stay here at Serena.
The setting is very clam and back to nature. The best breakfast each day with looking to the views and the pool. No rushing, just to relax.
A restaurant served good pasta about 8 minutes away along with good steak. This too was friendly (and cheap). But on most days we ate by the pool or had our own bbq.
a good week. -

Certainly off the beaten track, this lovely chalet house was just what we needed. Relaxing, secluded with wonderful views across the valley and to the garden and olive trees.
"Charmingl” very comfortable bedrooms, and comfy family room where we relaxed and on the only rainy day, rediscovered chess and some board games left by the owners.
The pool is just there! We sat in the porch for breakfast and looking to the pool and gardens. Big change from our usual start to the day!
The natural gardens and the various walks, the fresh air and the sunsets all added to the joy of our stay in Tuscany.
Tip: good idea to stop for some groceries the day you arrive and then, you can relax/ It is about 1 mile drive to the local shop and a little more to the main town.
