Newark DeA natural wonder!
Left on 03/30/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Beautiful serene surroundings, unique life style, neat place, comfy bed and awesome hosts! Cynthia was very knowledgeable about places to go and things to do as well as the best way to get there. It was a great home base for the week. We took trains to Rome and Florence and drove to many of the little neighboring towns in the area.

SingaporeFantastic base to explore the Italian countryside
Left on 02/23/2011 for a stay in November 2010
We spent a month at Casa Paterna, using it as a base to soak up all the Italian countryside has to offer. I can't recommend it highly enough. The apartment is stunning, fitted out with everything you could need - well equipped kitchen, wonderful big beds, a fabulous fireplace to sit by on cold nights, and the views over the countryside are amazing. Our hosts, Cynthia and David, really helped make it a great experience. We were travelling with our two small children and they went out of their way to help us have a great time - even equipping the apartment with some great toys to keep our kids busy. They were also brilliant with information on the surrounding area - particularly some of the wine areas and wineries we should visit, great restaurants to try and hilltop towns to experience. Can't wait for the opportunity to get back there.

Casa Paterna apartment was sublime. Clean, beautiful and elegant, practical and all newly renovated to have the Tuscan 'look' still. The hosts Cynthia and David are the most wonderful you could ever imagine to have as your 'guides' for the area. They are fun and happy people with a beautiful family of three children who are always polite and fun to be around. Their recommendations for food and visiting sites in the area - impeccable! I highly recommend this as a solo to family retreat to see the 'real' Italy you might always have dreamed about.

Canadian writer finds inspiration at Casa Paterna
Toronto, CanadaA Writer's Paradise!!
Left on 01/14/2011 for a stay in May 2009
My husband and I recently took a two year retreat from our life in Canada to live in Umbria. Our second year was spent living at Casa Paterna. From the moment we stepped through the centuries old wooden door, we knew we couldn't have picked a better place to enjoy la dolce vita and for me to get down to work on some long neglected writing projects.
The apartment is flooded with golden light year round and I loved nothing better than to pour a glass of wine, sit in front of the fire - and in between glancing up at the incredible vista of olive groves and vineyards visible through every window - to try and get some work done!
Each room is elegantly appointed and spacious with attention to authentic details throughout. And the terrace! The views are simply breathtaking. Many a memorable summer evening started and ended with wine and laughter on that wonderful terrace.
We cooked, entertained, worked and took many day trips to Rome, Florence, Assisi, Perugia, Cortona and Montepuliciano.
Throughout all the four seasons, we were comfortable and well taken care of at Casa Paterna. Cynthia and David Morgan were much more than our landlords: they were consummate hosts and have become good friends.
We are counting down the days until we can visit our treasured Casa Paterna again. -

Ashburn, Virginia , USAA little bit of heaven!!!
Left on 01/09/2011 for a stay in October 2009
We've had three visits to Casa Paterna including august 2006, August 2008, and October 2009. Each time we've been in awe of the beautiful scenery, huge two and three- floor villa with so much history of its own, authentic restoration, exquisite Italian interior decorating, natural beauty of rolling hills, olive trees cascading down one hillside, and a winding drive up the other side of the hill bordered by tall cypress trees ---so picturesque and inviting!!
David and Cynthia Morgan's love for this area is contagious
and contributes to our desire to return. They are friendly,
intelligent, extremely helpful, and can answer any question
one may have.
Their apartment is spacious, warm and comfortable,
providing a perfect place to relax and take in the wondrous
beauty from its convenient balcony. This is a perfect spot
for one or two couples or a family with children who will
have plenty of space stay as well as run and play in the grassy fields outside.
Casa Paterna is within a short drive or train ride to Cortona,
Montepulciano, Assisi, Siena, and even Roma. Restaurants everywhere provide authentic and delicious
Italian food. Vineyards and wineries are abundant and give
travelers some of the best winetasting in the world!
We cannot wait to return to this little bit of heaven!!

West Chester, PABella Casa Paterna!
Left on 01/03/2011 for a stay in September 2009
What a wonderful vacation! As we approached Casa Paterna from the road I was struck by the property's natural beauty! The rolling hills, sun drenched olive trees, the way the afternoon light reflects off the terracotta colored brick. I was enamored before we even made it to the front door!
Casa Paterna is lovely! The apartment is great...it's spacious yet cozy, clean and well appointed. But the best part is the view from the balcony! The perfect setting for glass of prosecco!
The property is perfectly situated for day trips. We visited Castiglione del lago and the fortress. Took a boat trip on Lago di Trasimeno, where we hiked and had a fabulous lunch alfresco on Isola Maggiore. Spent the day in Cortona, a beautiful hillside town made famous by the book Under the Tuscan Sun. We shopped and sampled fantastic local wines in Montepulciano. We also enjoyed the thermal spas...that was a unique experience! Though it may be that my favorite part of the week was napping on the veranda the the late afternoon sun.
But what set this trip apart from other trips to Italy was the warmth of the Morgan family. Cynthia and David are avid travelers who are a great resource for recommendations. Obviously, they have put their heart and sole into Casa Paterna, and it shows!

Bridgeport, New YorkExperience all that is wonderful about Tuscany in one place!
Left on 12/08/2010 for a stay in October 2009
Everything wonderful about Tuscany can be experienced at Casa Paterna. From the interior , it has been restored and modernized adding comfort, but losing none of the charm. The view is of olive trees as far as one can see. A short drive takes one to the tiny town with a quaint Catholic church and a coffee bar with fresh pastry. A bit longer will take you to Montepulciano and wonderful restaurants and shopping. David and Cynthia are marvelous hosts and very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the area and their wonderful chiildren just add to the fun.

CTMy Favorite Place
Left on 12/07/2010 for a stay in October 2010
I am the lucky one who got to spend two weeks in October at this great place. Quite honestly, the pictures don't do it justice. I'd visited olive groves and vineyards before, but I had never actually lived in them. My first night there was my favorite evening of my entire six week trip to Europe. I sat out on the balcony enjoying grapes and figs fresh picked from the property with a bottle of proseco. The sunset was even more beautiful than I hoped for and then the stars came out. There are no city lights so the stars are magnificent. Then, to top it off, there were shooting stars. Truely unforgetable!!!
I spent time on Lake Trasimino. Chusi and Catiglione de Lago are minutes away with great train service to everywhere. Sienna, Asissi, and Cortona were my choices for day trips. All are short train or car trips and very easy to get to. I also spent an overnight in Pompeii at a very small charming hotel Cynthia helped me find. She and David are geniuses at finding great places to go whether it be a day trip or an overnight. Trust me, you probably won't want to spend too many nights away from their villa, but the choices for day or overnight trips are endless.
Every bite of food I ate was stellar. Nothing can beat the local wine, produce and meats. I miss the olive oil from their olive grove so much I can't stand it. I dream about the pastries from GMB. Do not miss the best meat dish I have ever tasted - Stinco. It is a local specialty.
I also just want to mention that I am an engineer and a major fuss budget about things like sturdy construction and adequate plumbing. Everything in this apartment is top quality and works perfectly. -

LondonOlive Picking and the Italian Way
Left on 12/06/2010 for a stay in October 2010
What a treat! A long weekend with a twist. Flying from London to Pisa with a quick trip to the Leaning Tower, we arrived in Casa Paterna to be greated by a warm and loving family who welcomed us into their home.
If we had chosen to we could have based ourselves in the apartment and used the Casa as a base to travel around glorious countryside. This would have been wonderful, but instead we chose to spend much of our time with our host family and experience the italian way. This is a choice that resulted in one of the most fantastic breaks i have ever had.
We spent the mornings lazily having breakfast, visiting the coffee shops and exploring Cortona and other venues. Lunch was in the olive groves and the whole of the afternoons was spent up trees picking olives. We used the traditional nets laid out around the trees and brushed the olives into them.
My 5 year old daughter was delighted to help and when she needed a break she and the families 6 year old played in the fields, walked the dog and generally had a blast getting up to tricks.
5pm is prosecco time and it always felt well deserved.
We picked 168 KGs of olives and on the last day took them to press. 26 litres of oil was produced. It makes you realise how many olive trees the Italinas must need just to supply their own cooking requirments.
What an amazing holiday! What fantastic hosts! What a beautiful Casa! What's stopping you from reserving a place. Please avoid next October half term... we want to go back! -

Left on 12/05/2010 for a stay in September 2009
I had the opportunity to stay at Casa Paterna in September of 2009 and enjoyed every moment of my visit. You can not beat the location, perfect for day trips throughout Tuscany and Umbria. The apartment is well furnished and has its own entrance so you have complete privacy. The balcony off the apartment is the perfect place to enjoy a nice bottle of wine while taking in the gorgeous view of rolling hills in a peaceful setting. It's a great home base for any length of time. An added bonus is having Cynthia and David Morgan right there to answer questions and help you in planning your day trips. They are extremely knowledgeable about the area. I would recommend Casa Paterna without hesitation!

From the moment I was greeted at the airport, to putting down my bags next to my welcome note (thank you darling S), I felt like I had been on holidays for a month.
Talk about living the Italian dream - live like a local, travel around to all the tourist spots, great food, great wine, great company. Seriously it was just all too easy.
The apartment is enormous and the balcony is a perfect spot for indulging in a Prosecco while watching the sun set. Anything you need is on tap, and my hosts even found the little extras to make the stay even more enjoyable.
I think because they built it for themselves, the quality and attention to detail is amazing. Now how do I get ancient marble sinks back to Melbourne??
Thanks for the most wonderful time. You know I'll be back!!
