With spectacular views and a light, airy feel, this unique property offers comfortable and spacious accommodation for up to four people. This property is a traditional, stone-built Yorkshire cottage which offers sleeping accommodation for groups of up to four people. Organised in an ‘upside-down’ fashion, the bedrooms are on the ground floor, whilst the living accommodation is upstairs, benefiting from spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. For the summer months there is a walled garden to the rear of the property, allowing you to sit and enjoy a glass of wine as the sun goes down. In the winter, you can still watch... the sunset from the sitting room, warmed by the gas central heating and the flame-effect fire.

Amenities: Gas central heating with flame-effect fire in sitting room. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, TV, video, DVD, stereo/CD player. All fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Cot and highchair available. Abundant off road parking. Enclosed lawned garden to rear with garden furniture and BBQ. Up to two well-behaved dogs welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 2.5 miles, pub 2 miles. Note: There is a private water supply.

Region: The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Town: Set in the breathtaking and beautiful location of the Upper Esk Valley in the North Yorkshire Moors, Castleton is the main village in the area and a centre for walking, bird watching, shooting and many other pursuits. There is a bowling green adjacent to the Downe Arms public house (which is dog and walker friendly and has won accolades for its real ales) and a cricket pitch and children's play area close to the River Esk. There are many footpaths and bridle ways - all providing superb views of the surrounding countryside. Castleton is a short walk from the North York Moors Danby Visitors centre from where a number of walks start and local arts and crafts events held. Castleton is a thriving community which has ample provision for visitors and boasts, several shops, public houses, tea rooms, a post office, garage and a bank. Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  Very quite place, very kind owners, nice towns nearby worth to visit, we made several walks just outside the door but also a few miles (5-20)from the cottage. Bedrooms are a bit small and the beds a bit uncomfortable to us. Living, kitchen and bathroom well equipt.

  A lovely cottage in a beautiful and peaceful location

  We were made very welcome with tea and cakes on arrival and during our stay the owners were alays there if needed but never intruded on our privacy. The cottage is very well appointed and very comfortable with an exit on to the moors right outside the front door. Whilst standing on its own in the moors the cottage never feels isolated with full amenites only 3 miles away. This was our third visit and we cannot wait to experience it again.

  An isolated cottage next door to the owners residence,on a valley slope with wonderful views from the upstairs living area.
  The cottage was beautifully decorated and very comfortable.
  The owners were very friendly and helpful.
  Good walking country with walks from the door.
  A very peaceful and pleasant stay.Have recommended it to several friends.

  We had a wonderful holiday in this property, the
  owners were really nice, helpful and caring without
  being intrusive. The property itself is wonderful,
  fully equiped with everything you could need, nicely
  decorated, comfortable, and beautiful location. I
  would full recommend this property to everyone, the
  dogs were made very welcome, we will always remember
  our holiday with much fondness. The surrounding
  countryside was wonderful, the only problem is the
  mobiles cannot receive reception, which on a plus
  side nobody can pester you, you are literally AWAY
  FROM IT ALL.
