Summer of 42 is a three bedroom, two bathroom home located in the town of Caswell Beach on beautiful Oak Island, NC. The property features one king, one queen, two singles, one trundle with pop-up, and one queen sofa bed. Caswell Beach, a four mile stretch from Country Club Drive and Oak Island's old bridge to the east end of the island, is primarily comprised of a pencil thin strip of land, home to a single road and two rows of houses. The western part of Caswell Beach is home to the Oak Island Golf Club, a George Cobb designed 18 hole championship course. Both my husband and I grew up going to Oak Island, NC for our summer beach vacations. Naturally we continued going there when we started our own family. Oak Island is a quiet, family oriented beach. In recent years we have gravitated towards Caswell Beach on the east end of the Island. We picked out Summer of 42 because we liked the name. We're fans of the movie and the beach house has a couple of copies of the book on which the movie was based, in addition to lots of other books, puzzles and games. We stay in a different house each year, but Summer of 42 is the best by far. Yes it has all the usual ammenities, with the bonus of wireless internet. What makes this house stand out is its kitchen. No cruddy scraped up teflon pots & pans in this place. Good, heavy duty pots & pans of all sizes, plenty of dishes, cutlery and even a decent set of knives; the kind of vacation rental kitchen that doesn't make you wish you'd brought half your kitchen with you. It's close enough to the lighthouse that you can enjoy the light from it at night without it shining into your bedroom.
