Description from the owner

Fernandez Bay Village is very laid back. We are located on Cat Island in the Bahamas. We have several cottages spread out over a mile of white sand beach. We are in a cove with crystal clear water. We have complimentary kayaks and bikes. We offer boat rentals, fishing trips, snorkel excursions, and eco-tours. We are great for families with kids, honeymooners, weddings, couples, and for people who want to get away and recharge their batteries. (There are no televisions or phones in the rooms.)

At our clubhouse we have the front desk, honor system tiki bar, boutique, restaurant, and free wifi. Our restaurant is open every day for breakfas...Read more

Additional Location Information

Cat Island is one of the larger island in the Out Islands. The island is 50 miles long so it is fun to rent a car for a few days to explore. There are tons of pink sand beaches, great local restaurants, and friendly Cat Islanders to meet. Cat Islanders are the friendlies people in the world. They love to sit and chat the day away. Cat Island has the largest point in the Bahamas, Mt. Alvernia. At the top sits a great historic Hermitage. The Hermitage is amazing to see. At the top you have a beautiful 360 degree view of the island. Make sure you bring your camera with tons of fim.

Fernandez Bay is the perfect get away for families, couples, gro

We cannot say enough about Fernandez Bay Village! Not only is the island and its beaches and water absolutely beautiful, but the people there make it truly special! You couldn't meet more down to earth, friendly people than those that make up FBV. Being completely unplugged with no schedule and unlimited time on the beach is priceless when you have a family. From boat rides, the jumping rocks, swimming in the ocean, surfing with "Grandpa Tom", fabulous dinners, and taking in the local culture- It was the perfect vacation for our family. Our kids are begging to return. When given the choice of buying a boat or going back to Cat Island, our kids unanimously chose Cat!! :) This resort receives the highest rating I can give!!

We just keep going back and it's always wonderful

In Canada we all look forward to summers in "cottage country" -- and Fernandez Bay provides the same sort of relaxed, unstructured lazy-but-active holiday when it's not warm enough to do it back home. We've been there every year for five years now, and I wish we could stay three months instead of three weeks.

Fernandez Bay - Beautiful Island, Great People. Thanks from Iow

Left on 06/18/2012 for a stay in February 2012

Finally found some time to write a quick review and thank you to all the people we met at Fernandez Bay Village. Kim and I stayed February 26 - March 2nd, 2012.

Fernandez Bay is beautifully located, and we loved the Hummingbird House setup and garden shower - everything we needed.

The location and beauty of the resort is overshadowed by the friendliness of all the staff we met and became friends with, and Pacer, Benny, and Oscar the canine 'staff'.

Thanks to alissa and Ginny for the tips on hunting for Sea Glass (looking forward into having some jewelry made).

Thanks to Mark for his excellent Bone Fishing guiding and education on the Cat Island Eco system and all his stories - what a great day we had that day.

Loved the honor system bar and playing the ring catch game - watch out for the ringers =)

Thanks to Shane for getting this ole fat guy up on waterskis on my last day there.

    Hope to be back soon.

My better half will be writing up more detailed trip notes for her website - stay tuned.

First family vacation to the Islands

Left on 03/07/2011 for a stay in May 2005

The 5 minute drive from the airport was quick and easy. Donna warmly greeted us and showed us around the main building, tiki bar, beach area and then down to our cottage on the beach. Awesome. Our family stayed at the Sand Dollar which was a short stroll along the beach. The teens had the main villa and my wife and I the suite across the courtyard, which included an open air shower. We prepared several of our meals at the villa. This was very convenient as everyone was on a different schedule with there activities. These activities included deep sea fishing(with Mark), mopeds, snorkelling, kayaking, exploring the creek, strolling the beach, rented a van the one day to explore the whole Island.
We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere from the staff and other guests and our humble request's were met promptly. The beach/water, as always, is very inviting and we couldn't get enough of it.
Liked the least? Well,,,I'll have to lie back in the hammock and really think about that one...May/2011 here we come!!
