Costa Mesa, CASo relaxing!
Left on 06/07/2013 for a stay in May 2013
My husband and I and some of our friends stayed at 57 Sol Vista last weekend and it was nothing short of fantastic. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a BBQ on the patio so we didn't have to eat every meal out. The golf cart was a huge hit since it's quite a ways up the hill but we meandered up above the condo and took in the awesome view of avalon and the Casino Building. The great thing is that it's quiet there so when you're ready to get away from the bustle of the town, you can actually relax. We will definitely be back.

OjaiRelaxing, beautiful family time
Left on 10/05/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We arrived on Friday and the packet was ready. The condo was clean. It appears to be in the midst of some updating. The kitchen is great. The cookware needs improvement.
Both bedrooms suited our needs perfectly. We all slept well and it was so quiet.
So glad to have use of the golf cart. It made it easier on the entire family.
The 2nd bathroom upstairs needs a new towel rack. There were plenty of towels for all 4 of us, clean and stored. Our son loved sleeping on the top bunk of the bunk bed.
There were deer just outside our back patio and the bbq worked great. It was quiet and relaxing. We plan to return again and come back to this condo if it's available. -

Hidden Valley LakeWe like that the owners do upgrades.
Left on 08/10/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This year we found a new sofa, hardwood floors and wifi internet service at our rental. We appreciate that the owners do these upgrades, and I feel people take better care of a place they rent when the owners try to keep the rental nice. There are still a few upgrades that need to be done, some painting and such. We have used this condo for 3 years now, and never want to change.

Our family spent 2 wonderful weeks on beautiful Catalina island. This condo suited our needs perfectly. Clean and spacious, and a deck from which we could feed the deer that came every evening. Thankfully a golf cart comes with the rental as the walk back from town became tiresome with the little ones. Dumpster is a few feet away, which made trash disposal quick and easy. A quiet location. Only complaint is that there is no view.

Ester was great and very helpful. My family had a great time. The golf cart that came with the condo was great, going up and down that hill would have been a real bummer without it.

San DiegoRelaxing, roomy, clean
Left on 08/01/2010 for a stay in July 2010
This is our second year staying in this condo. The golf cart is a must with small kids and grandma. It is clean, well equipped and has plenty of space. The outside balconies are fantastic additions. The washer and dryer are a plus.
The cost is cheaper than a deluxe hotel room. We are very pleased, recommend it to friends and will be back. -

This unit was extremely well appointed and located as well.
The complex in itself is quite quaint and welcoming. It was nice to have a pool
and spa (though we wished at least the hot tub to be heated).
Other than being located a bit away from the town, with the use of the gold
cart, it was much better.
As always, your service and cordiality was pleasant and your care and prompt
responses made the process from reservation to departure very easy.
We have been there for many years and hope to return for many more.
Best for all of you and the "new addition" to the team.

Riverside, CAGreat place!
Left on 04/21/2010 for a stay in April 2010
This condo, with the golf cart, worked out perfect for our group of two adults and two teenagers. The kitchen was clean and well-stocked as well as beautiful. The master bedroom was perfect. And the girls room had plenty of space for them to not kill each other. Loved the DVD player and flat screen TV although another comfy chair would have been nice. Our only letdown was the pool area which was pretty bare but at least there was one. Having the golf cart as part of the deal made a huge difference. Service with the rental company was easy.

San Diego, CAWonderful Memories at the Best Price
Left on 03/01/2010 for a stay in February 2010
The place was clean and well cared for. The kitchen looked freshly remodeled. When we arrived the heat wasn't working so we called, someone came out to the place, fixed the heating, and the heat was on.
The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of room for our own food in the pantries.
The dishes were clean and there were enough for all six of us.
The cart that came with the place was WONDERFUL! We took it everywhere. It was very nice to make the drive over the hill to the Gas station too. -

Merced, CAGood Rental...just not Great!
Left on 01/21/2010 for a stay in December 2009
We were glad that we had friends pick us up at the pier because we had been told that it was a 5 minute walk to the condo from the pier! With a 4 year old and suitcases...it would not have been fun!
When we arrived, the condo was quite a way from the beach, the floors had mud all over them, and the bathrooms had not been cleaned.
The layout of this unit is wonderful. Once we settled in, and got the heat working, it was just fine. It is not in a vacation complex like we thought it was...while there are a few vacation rentals, most units are lived in by locals...and they have lots of "junk" around!
The golf cart was a great part of the contract. The people at the agency were wonderful. The town was great. We would definitely go to Catalina again...but we would select another rental. -

the condo was very nice, however, Master B/R should have a tv also. TV in 2nd b/r is far too small. Couch in living room needs replacing. Kitchen was very, very nice. Nicely equipped also.

Orange County, CAJust as Pictured
Left on 08/28/2009 for a stay in August 2009
We stayed at 57 Sol Vista for one week in early August 2009. The online reservations and check-in process could not be easier. The condo is just like the pictures. It has a well appointed kitchen, nice beds, clean bathrooms, nice sized TV in living room, and the golf cart was fantastic since you are a bit away from town. However, we did have an issue with the condo. It has a very strange smell that does not go away. It smelt like a dead animal or rotten soil. It is coming from under the house through an opening in the ground that is in closet located next to the sofa. We reported it to the rental company but they did very little to fix it. It actually made us feel ill. We keep the windows open 24 hours a day, air freshener , etc., with no success. So we just stayed away or sat outside. We also had a problem with ants. They were in every room of the condo. We could tell this has been an ongoing problem because ant spray was one of the few items stocked in the house. If you go to the pool beware of the woman who thinks she owns the place. Her arms are crossed and she stares at you the whole time you have kids at the pool. She will check your key and age check the children to see if they qualify to go into the cold spa. However, she does not have any identification that she works for the condo association. She can make your pool experience very uncomfortable. Overall, I would rent from the company again but I would not rent this condo again.

San Diego CAGreat for family with grandma & kids along
Left on 07/23/2009 for a stay in July 2009
Lots of space, clean, beds really comfortable, balconies had a nice view of
mule ear deer, kitchen fully equipped, washer and dryer a plus as well as
the golf cart.
The barbeque was a big commercial type and worked really well, although
the outside was not clean the grill was fine.
The lock on the slider off the master bedroom balcony door was broken but
such a nice breeze came in we left it open anyway.
Getting the keys back to the office and getting down to the dock in 15
minutes was a problem. I called to ask if someone in the office could help
us out and was told politely no they couldn't even meet me half way. I
definitely think you should realize when people come for a week they have
several pieces of luggage and offer your customers help with picking up
and dropping off keys.

This was our first time staying in a rental propety on the island and I have to say what a great experience from the check in process (took 30 seconds) to the property itself. I attended the Avalon Harbor clean up along with my wife and anopther couple. The condo was clean and the rental golf cart came in EXTREMELY handy throughout the stay. 57 Sol vista entrance was perfect with just a few stairs to carry the dive euiptment. The only thing I can recommend for this propety is a TV in the master room. Already looking into another weekend stay at this property.

Oxnard, CABig aspace, great for small kids,
Left on 01/08/2009 for a stay in August 2008
This is a unit at that low end of the typical Catalina renual unit, but also has some serious upside features that balance the negatives.
Facts -
This is a 2 story 2 bedroom unit with a large master and second bedroom upstairs. Separate bathrooms, one with a tub for the kiddies after a day at the beach. Downstairs is a 1/2 bath, the large open kitchen and the living room.
Complex has a pool and a jacuzzi.
Rental includes use of a golfcart.
Positive -
Pleney of room for 6 to spread out and sleep.
Lost of soen space downstairs to BBQ and socialize. Pool onsite is one of few on the island. Golfcart is invaluable for running little kids and tired adults to the store, descanso, the beach, to dinner. This unit is quite a ways (relatively speaking) form the markets, and lugging 2 - 3 bags of groceries by hand can be a chore. Thie unit has a recently remodled kitchen, tile downstairs in the kitchen and entryway, and aew washer / dryer.
The ususal -
This is a rental unit, and while the owners have fixed up the kithen, the rest of the place is 30 years old with lots of wear and tear, and not more than the usual coat of paint to keep things looking accepatble. The unit was clean, but well worn and dated outside of the kitchen area.
Negative -
There was a musty odor downstairs. This could be from either an old water leak that was not cleand up properly, or given thge units location way back in the canyon, could simply be from high humidity levels that result from being closed up for long stretches of time.
The Condo association was a pain at the pool. The pool was not warm enough for little kids to play in for very long without getting chilled. They have a strict no children under 16 policy for the jacuzzi, and the old bat that is the self appointed pool nazi is a real hard ass who will sit in the jacuzzi and tell the kids, even though escorted and supervised directly by adults. She is an owner, oh well.
Overall -
Price is the same as a nice hotel room down on the beach (but those are limited to 4 people MAX) and none have pool or the golfcart. If you can handle the cheapness of the unit, the pool/space/golfcart make for an an enjoyable stay with the ability to really get around town without wearing yourslef out.
I have stayed in expensive hotels, cheap hotels, expensive condos, and this wat we needed wto handle 6 people incuding 2 little kids. The pool is good and bad.
