This cozy Catalina family cottage, AKA “Raz Ma Taz,” is located in the heart of Avalon, where you can sit out on the front porch or the side patio and watch the day go by. When entering through the front door on the Sumner side (3 steps up), you will find the living room, where you can enjoy the gas fireplace, watch your favorite DVD or TV show on the new flat panel TV, relax and read, or play a family game. Continuing on, two bedrooms are on the left (twin beds and double bed) and the well supplied kitchen is on the right. Next you will find the dining area, which is a great location for family meals or game night. You will also find the... washer/dryer and the no-stepsentrance from the side patio, where the natural gas BBQ is located. Just beyond the dining area are the master bedroom with ¾ bath on the left and the full bath on the right. Come and build memories in this family cottage!

Loved this house. Had our 1st annual Family vacation and I could not have been more hapier with our rental. It had everything and the location was perfect. We all would love to rent it next year. No really draw backs at all. Beds were confortable, kitchen was well stocked and everything worked perfectly. Thank you.

This was our 4th annual family trip to Catalina and our first time at this house. We had 7 people, including two young children and three elderly people with us.
The house is homey and clean. My only complaint is that there are too many knick knacks around on every surface, which makes it hard to unpack for the week. Other than that it's a good location, near a small park and near the road that leads to the Wrigley Botanical Gardens, yet close enough to the main boardwalk.
Civr is very good with their service and came out immediately to fix a faulty plug.

we were there for the rugby festival up the canyon. as we had 5 adults and 1 8yr old needed plenty of room which we had. also with the washer/dryer after one of us had their bag get soaked at the back of the boat coming over could dry their clothes. a little noisy on the corner but we could see all the rugby people coming and going. we had fun
Couldn't have been better for our trip

We had my Catalina Grandparents memorial that weekend and this cute little house fit our needs perfectly. We were able to have a BBQ for a lot of the guests after the official day was done and the location was great for people watching and convienent to the Country Club and Cemetary. It's a little far for some people but very easy to catch a taxi.

Memories in the Making!

This was our first trip to Catalina with our kids. This house was just right for what we needed. With six children (all under 10), we were able to sleep in this small but cozy home. However, there definitely would not be enough seating for us all to eat if it hadn't been for the outdoor picnic table (which wouldn't work so well if it were cold outside). While it is a cute little home, it is on a very loud and busy corner. We liked it because we loved the people watching and the kids liked waving to everyone driving/walking by. Having a washer/dryer is great; but it would help to have a dishwasher, especially when there's that many people eating there. The "master bedroom" has the most uncomfortable bed so you'd want to bring something to put on top of the mattress. All in all, it was a great first trip for the family and we made lots of lasting memories during this trip. For the location and price, this is a great house (if you get used to the traffic noise).
Great little vacation house!

My family and I stayed the weekend in this quaint little house and really enjoyed ourselves. The house sleeps 8 pretty comfortably and has the basic amenities. The house was clean and cozy and accomodates a family with small children.
There were a few things we would have liked provided as part of our rental fee to make our stay a little easier. First, the house is advertised as being close to the beach. This is somewhat true, as the house is about 5 minutes from town but it is located at the very top of Sumner. I had the impression that it was a little closer and rented it because of the stated closeness of town due to our small children. Also, the kitchen is not very accomodating. It is too small to prepare a full meal and there are very few pots and pans, utensils and counter space to cook for a family. Another issue we had is that there are no beach towels provided. I have never stayed at a rental beach house that did not provide any beach towels. Lastly, make sure you go to the store to pick up paper towels. They only leave you with 1 roll and it goes fast with a large family.
The only other issues we had was the temperature of the house. We were fortunate to go to Catalina while the weather was still warm. Unfortunately, the house does not have any a/C and there really isnt much of a breeze even with all the windows open. They do have a ceiling fan in the kitchen, but the master bedroom gets ridiculously warm at night and we were pretty miserable during the middle of the night.
Don't get me wrong, this house is a great place to rent for a weekend but I thought it would be helpful to list some of the things that were challenging for our family so the next one can prepare for them.

We really enjoyed this cute little avalon cottage. It was very clean and had all the necessary amenities. Best of all, it included a washer and dryer. This was so nice since we have young children!

My friends and I went to Catalina for a girls weekend... We could have not have asked for accomadations. The location is close enough to downtown and just a short walk to Descanso beach. The house is adorable and suited us perfectly. We loved the corner spot on Tremont and Sumner. At least one of my girl friends mentioned that they would love to come back with there families and stay at the same house. I was 100% pleased with the residence!

We had a great stay over all. I had the bedroom with the attached bathroom. The bed was so hard, I actually did not sleep at all. That really is the only complaint. The kids enjoyed days at Descanso beach and I rode in the Gran Fondo biking event. We would come again if the bed is different! Thanks, Shelly

Our honeymoon cottage revisited

We stayed here almost 16 years ago when we got married on the island. We came back last week and brought our now 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son to stay for Spring Break. It was as wonderful as I remembered and we were able to share those memories with our kids. We had a great time and the house was very comfortable. Catalina Island Vacation Rentals were very helpful and took care of everything.

In the past 5 years of renting in Catalina, this house by far was the best all around! We all had a wonderful time. The side yard with picnic bench was definitely a big hit with adults and kids alike. Loved the fact there was two (2) doors! Great ventilation. Looking forward to next Summer. Planning on renting this house again. (Only thing needed - 12" saute pans)
Good Beach Cottage for a family of 8
We love Catalina!!

I have been coming to Catalina since I was a child and look forward to our family vacation all year long. We have stayed at this property for many years and as a beach rental it works out great for our family because 8 of us can stay there. We had some plumbing problems this year and it took us the entire 10 days to get them resolved. We were without a shower and sink for a day which was hard with 8 people. When we arrive the house is only moderately clean. I would like to see the floors, bathrooms and kitchen cleaner. The management company changed this year and they honored our original rate, but it has increased quite a bit for next year.
So much more relaxing than a motel

The cottages in avalon are uniquely charming. We chose this house because of the front porch. It's on a corner so it didn't feel as cramped as some of the other cottages looked. I enjoyed watching the traffic at the intersection - it gave me a feel for the everyday life of the island.
One of the great conveniences in the house was the washer/dryer because some members of the family didn't handle the channel crossing so well.
It was also nice to have a playground right across the street for the little ones.
