FullertonWe had a pleasant and terrific stay at Catalina Island!
Left on 04/11/2013 for a stay in April 2013
This rental was more than what we expected. It was private, quiet, and with a gorgeous view of the ocean. This place was very clean and neat. The grocery store is located very conveniently about a 3- 5 minute walk from this house. We will definitely consider staying here the next time we come to visit Catalina Island. Thank you for making our stay more comfortable and memorable!

Fremont, CaliforniaClean and comfortable
Left on 10/05/2012 for a stay in September 2012
The location was about 2 blocks up from the shopping and restaurants.. The hill getting to this place was a little steep when hauling luggage or groceries. The stairs from the street to the property were steep. If you have a physical challenge, this is not the place for you. The noise from the golf carts drowned out the TV. There is sleeping space for 4 people but that would be pushing it. This was a small place better suited for 2 people.
It's good we didn't plan to cook. The knives were very dull and there was no sharpener.
The free wi-f/internet access was a nice bonus. -

El Segundo, CAA bit downhill from what it was.

We have been renting this unit annually for the past 12 years. For the most part, the unit is still very nice. But it is suffered more from neglect this year than in any past years that we have been there. Here are some of the problems that we encountered upon arrival this year.
- No drinking glasses
- Very dirty dishes (each tenant is supposed to leave the dishes clean for the next tenant)
- A bed cover with a large smelly urine stain.
- The satellite tv was not working and had to call a technician in for the repair.
- Another renter in upper unit wrongly accused us and our immediate neighbor (who also has been renting their unit for the past 12 years)of using the laundry room which is not permitted under our contracts. Both families responded to Civr that the accusation was untrue. Therefore, renters should be advised that issues of territoriality can arise with the use of this triplex depending on who is inhabiting the upper unit. A side note: the lower unit is subject to the noise of those walking around in upper unit. This can be very noisy and disconcerting at times even though the upper unit occupants are not doing anything out of the ordinary - just normal activities.
That being said, the staff at Catalina Island Vacation Rentals did their best to promptly and pleasantly rectify the situation once they were informed.
I wish they did a better job of inspecting the condition of the unit, cleaning of the unit (more than just a cursory vacuum job), and ensuring that the kitchen was stocked with the necessary plates, silverware, pots, pans, etc..
We will continue to rent this unit because we like it. It is a walk up a hill which can be daunting when tired after a day at the beach or carrying groceries. But there is a view and a nice breeze once you arrive. -

Rancho CucamongaA very average vacation rental
Left on 08/01/2012 for a stay in July 2012
The rental unit was cute but very small. It had an oven that didn't work and the place smelled terrible due to being so old and musty. Nearby renters were loud as they had friends over and partied outside our bedroom window. I would choose a more family friendly unit next time although my husband thought the unit was just fine.

Real nice neighbors 216a, great people. Neighbors upstairs have heavy feet, allot upstairs pounding because of the kids. Other than that had a great comfortable stay. We like the free internet service and dish TV. The TV was not very clear mostly blurry, maybe because of the dish. One more thing, the oven wasn't working. Any how we had other things to do there...

Orange CountyGot to "Live" on the Island for 4 days
Left on 06/06/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We came here and stayed 3 nights with 2 couples (4 adults). It was the perfect place, minus the steep walk up the street (make sure you have luggage with wheels, or you'll hate it, and just take your time up the hill, no rush! You're on vacation). The house was super cute and had everything we needed. I brought an iron and hairdryer, and the house had both. We were able to enjoy our time in the house without sitting on top of each other, plenty of space. Played games in the night in the living room and cooked dinner and breakfast after the short walk to Vons. We all felt like we had moved to the island for the weekend. Waking up with a foggy view of the ocean and watching the clouds burn away... couldn't have been nicer. This home has a super cute history to it. We would absolutely stay here again.

Vista, CAQuaint cottage, awesome views and a pleasent stay
Left on 04/28/2011 for a stay in April 2011
I loved this cottage. There was a nice front room with harbor view and a nice flat screen TV. Sofa was a trundle bed that converted to two twin beds. Kitchen was well stocked and had everything I needed. Up two steps to the bedroom and bath was just right for me. My son and family had the upstairs cottage which easily slept 7. We had a wonderful stay in Catalina. Cottages had books, games and all the cooking utensils you needed. Just bring your food. There are two chairs out side the front door to enjoy the view and just relax. This was the perfect spot
If you get the top cottage then you have the roof top deck with its sweeping view of the harbor. There are steep stairs getting to the unit and a pretty steep hill, but we felt it worked off everything we ate. Bring your bikes as its only $7 on the ferry. They cost $12.00 a day in town. Tho you have to carry your bikes up the stairs, so consider that. There are probably about 14 stairs up to this unit. Its worth it to make that climb.
Don't forget to go to the buffalo at the end of the boardwalk for a shuttle ride to the Buffalo restaurant for great mexican food. There is a sign on the corner, just call the number and they will come pick you up and bring you back when you finish. Awesome food. Don't forget to rent a golf cart and visit the pet cemetery. Its on the way up to the Wrigley mansion. Reading their markers is really fun. Didn't do the zip line as it was too expensive when you have 6 people that want to do it but those we watched said it was worth it. Parasail, kayak or scuba Dive by getting equipment at the beach on the far side of the casino. Don't forget to visit the museum at the casino and take the tour that is well worth the small price. Loved it.
Come to Catalina and rent from this company, they were awesome, friendly and efficient. We give this cottage a ten! -

Left on 12/30/2010 for a stay in December 2010
This one bedroom portion of a triplex is one of my favorite places I've stayed in my travels. The place is roomy, and has a queen bed, plus a trundle in the living room. Perfect for families, although not well suited for two couples.
Pros: The most comfortable mattress ever - will cure any back pain!! Large, roomy, well equipped and sunny kitchen with a cool old vintage stove. Great location just a short walk uphill from the center of avalon. Flat screen TV and also unlimited long distance on the telephone! Plenty of extra blankets and pillows. Another bonus was a well stocked shed full of beach chairs, toys, and snorkel gear for kids. The view from the porch is partial ocean and mostly hills. The living room has magazines and a geographic travel book collection which is great for a rainy day.
Cons: Slight uphill walk if someone is not healthy. Small porch, great for a couple, but not for a whole family to relax on. We were not told the oven does not work (stove top works, not oven) so we ended up boiling our Christmas turkey.
Other than that this place is highly recommended. It's an older place with antique decorations which gives it an authentic, cozy feel. Not a bland corporate feeling you get at some hotels. More like a real home away from home. Best value of all the housing rentals in avalon! -

Thanks for your response. Unfortunalty due to the size of the deck we can only make that available to the guests in unit C. We do have other properties that have outdoor decks or patios, call our office and our staff would be happy to find the right location for you.
Thanks

My family had an awesome time renting this home from Catalina Vacation Rentals. We have been to the Island over 20 times and this is the first time we have decided to rent a house. It was much more convenient than staying in a hotel. We were able to make many meals in the rental which saved a great deal of money! Next time we visit the Island, we will definitely rent from this company.

the place we rented was spotless and well equipped. it was slightly off the beaten trail which was perfect but still within walking distance to everything. the landscaping was beautiful, especially the roses. the towels were done up in these marvelous animal shapes and we found the need to photograph them. nice private outdoor deck for two... nice history information for the house provided and the well stocked bookshelf was the icing on the cake... wonderful place to go to after touring the island.. i recommend it to everyone has dreamed of a clean safe comfortable refuge after a day of walking and sightseeing... perfect!

service was very good, home is old and furnishings are out dated and some what broken down. kitchen stove is not safe. no good furniture to sit on, very uncomfortable. location is not bad if you can walk up hill. best was the weather and least was the lack of a place to sit and relax.

Left on 10/15/2009 for a stay in October 2009
We picked up the keys from a very friendly attendant at the rental office. The walk up Whittley is a bit arduous, but worth it. You have a view of the ballroom and the bay from the front porch. This home has all the basics for making your own meals, including a small outdoor grille. The shower was great (always a must!) and the kitchen was clean and functional. The front room was cozy and comfortable. Now the negative: The bed is old and VERY uncomfortable with a collapsed and noisy box spring and a hard mattress, along with the very thin pillows. Sleeping was a real chore and we felt more tired in the morning than when we went to bed. The creaks and snaps from the ceiling caused by the renters moving about upstairs also kept us awake at times. Would I rent here again? No.

Although an uphill walk of 200 yards, it got easier each time and was worth the extra cardio. This was a very nice 1 BR + day bed rental with a large kitchen which was between the bedroom and living room. There was a nice balcony for reading and enjoying an ocean view. The unit was neat and clean and I would return again on a future visit.

Upon arrival the cottage appeared clean and well taken care of. The owners leave little notes around the cottage so that you can become familiar with how everything works. The cottage is very quaint and plenty of room to unwind and relax. The first night we had a quiet, relaxing evening. The second day of our stay some renters arrived upstairs above us and the had a child, all day and well into the night all we heard was banging, jumping and running around. I don't have anything against children, but this was our anniversary weekend and it was ruined by the noise over our heads. I would definately stay at this cottage again, with hopes that the renters are considerate of others. Very lovely island, great tours. We recommend that everyone take the 4 hour Inland tour.

We had a great 5 day stay at 216 Whittley #B. The property was clean, quaint, and within walking distance to everything we wanted to do in Avalon. The owners of the property happened to be there when we were and they are two of the nicest, most welcoming and interesting people we have ever met. It was a great experience and we will definitely request this property again. We were there in November and it was warm, sunny and beautiful!!

Our family of 4 stayed here for a couple of nights. We found the property location ideal for our visit. It was within walking distance of everything we did. The property itself was clean and comfortable. If I were going to make it nicer I would take out the wall that separates the kitchen from the front room...this would open the area up. The kitchen could be much smaller and the front room larger. It was fine for ourselves and our 2 small kids.

The "cottage" was darling and all that we hoped for. It's a good hike to and from town, but that's fine. In return for the hike, you get a great view from the front porch.
We had a little trouble figuring out how to use the TV, but I'm technologically challenged, and we really didn't have time to watch it anyhow.
I have spent many summers in Catalina and this was one of the best little places I've stayed.
If I happen to be back with just one or two people again, I will definitely try to book this place.
