This is the upper and largest unit of this Victorian triplex. Only a couple of blocks up the hill and 26 steps to get to the top, but well worth the climb. Both bedrooms have a queen bed, and there is a double Murphy bed in the living room. This unit boasts lots of sunshine and ocean views from the living area and the large rooftop deck. It offers an open floor plan, fully equipped kitchen, stacked washer/dryer, 43-inch flat panel TV with satellite, VCR and DVD players, stereo, BBQ, and a small library of books, games and extras are there for your enjoyment. We love this place, was inmaculate, we will loce to stay there again our kids love it the only thing it was noice bacause of the little cars going up snd down and some coffea mugs where chipt but had a great view fron the condo and the deck, i do recoment this place

This is our second time renting this house and we love it.
It has a great view from the kitchen/living room and the deck on top is an even better view.
This house is loaded with everything you need for a great time, you only have to bring your personal items and stop off at Von's and pick up a few groceries.
Another great thing available in this home, is the use of the washer/dryer which comes in very handy when you have been away from home for over a week.
This house is just like being at home...thanks!!!

We had an amazing week on Catalina and this rental was a huge part of having a wonderful time. It's spacious, well-stocked, comfortable and the view is beautiful. It truly made it relaxing. So whether we were out hiking, biking or sightseeing, we had a beautiful place to return to or if we wanted to remain at the house, we could enjoy the view.
The check in and out was also very convient, pleasant and accomodating. My only complaint is that the regular check-out is 10 am, which I think is quite early for a vacation rental. 11 am or noon seems more reasonable. However, we did go off-season and they were accomodating if it was workable.
Due to scheduling, we actually stayed in one of the downstairs units for the first two days. It was nice, but given a choice, I'd always stay upstairs! It's actually great for several families if you needed to rent all 3 units. I've already recommended it to friends and would return again. Thank you for your home! -

My family and I absolutely enjoyed this home. It had everything we needed; this home is fully contained and I love the thought the owners put into making it feel like your home; The home was nice and clean, including the deck and outdoors; especially providing toys for children, and providing books and oh, everything in the kitchen is pretty much labeled so you know where things should go; great ideal! Although a steep street and stairwell, the ambiance, panoramic majestic ocean views and sunsets made this hike so well worth it. My daughters were in aW! Everything was pretty much prefect except a little glitch of no hot water in the Kitchen. But I appreciate your fast response in attending to this little inconvenience immediately. Our stay there was just so comfy and cozy. I would rent this home again in a heart beat. Thank you Catalina Vacation Rentals for the ease in using your web site, helping to finalize my plans and an easy check in and out. I've used your service in the past and I believe your professionalism is outstanding. Once again, this is a fantastic home and I can see why the owners love it! We are also thinking of using this home for annual family reunions, so do I hope the owners continue to extend their generosity by continuing to make their home available for my family to enjoy in the future. We love 216 Whittley #c. I'm not sure how many years we've stayed but this past (2012) was our 16th jazz festival and this rental is our favorite, the deck, great views. Our joke is how long can we climb the hill plus the stairs, we're in our 60's, but we hope many more.
The staff at the rental agency is great plus the cleaning crew does a wonderful job. Can't wait for the 2013 date.

This is a charming place. The unit was clean and the kitchen well-appointed. The shower-curtain rod needed replacement. We called and a maintenance man came over right away and installed a new rod. We also had problems with the TV remote but someone came over to help. The only draw-back is that the unit is at the top of three flights of very narrow stairs, so this is not the right place for anyone with knee problems or mobility issues or who cannot carry their luggage up the steps. The views of avalon are gorgeous and the rooftop deck comes equipped with two recliners and a table for 4 under an umbrella. Just bring a citronella candle as the bees were a bother. We had a wonderful time and would happily return.

What an amazing 5 days we spent on Catalina Island. The weather was fantastic, so we did absolutely everything we could there from snorkeling to parasailing to renting golf carts to tour the island. So very picturesque. And our place was just perfect. The beds were very comfortable, the necessary kitchen items were in place, and everything in and around this house had such charm. We absolutely loved the BBQ and the fantastic deck!! We began each day and ended each day from the deck. What a view!! We wrote 2 pages in the guest book. Climbing he hill to get to the house was a bit much, so we made sure to only go up it at the end of each day, saying in and around the area throughout the entire day. Having a golf cart on hand would have really been heaven, but we were OK without it.

We have been coming to avalon for many years and the Whittley C rental made this trip one of the best. Very cozy and clean! The roof-top deck was great and provided a beautiful view. Some reviews have stated that the hill and steps are a drawback, but when you see the view you won't regret renting the place (I am not the picture of health and I managed the hill and steps while carrying a 1 year-old, it can be done!).

I found the house to be wonderfully stocked with great cooking utensils and since we ate most of our meals at home cooking was a pleasure. Loved the view from inside the unit and from the amazing rooftop deck.

Our three-night stay at 216 Whittley C was simply fantastic. We enjoyed the location, the accomodations, and most especially - the view of Avalon harbor and the Casino from the large windows. The well-equipped home (and kitchen) and roof top deck offered us ample room to spread out and enjoy. Added bonus - laundry facilities. Grocery store was within walking distance, but be ready to lug your bags up slight incline of a hill to the ## steps of home. Motorized golf cars zip around the island all day long, making it feel so vacation island-like. It's a great rental property -- if planning a large gathering you should think about renting 216 Whittley A, B, and C !!

Very nice people to deal with at the office, and the house was great; worked well for two couples. Stayed for a long weekend, and hope to rent it again someday soon. Great views from both the house and the deck on the roof. There is a hike up the hill, and then many steps to climb once you arrive at the house; however, we expected this based on the descriptions and so was not an issue for us but should be taken into consideration if steps/uphill walking are a concern.

We have been staying in 216 C Whittley for a couple of weeks every year since 1993. We will continue to stay there as long as it is available and we can afford it. Everything about the place is great. We even like the walk up the hill and then up the stairs to get there. We have become so comfortable that we feel possessive, like partial owners and care for it in that fashion when we are there. As far as the location all I can say is that you need to see the view to appreciate it. Views from the living room, kitchen, and roof deck are gorgeous. If you cannot relax here, you are lost and should not waste any money on vacationing. Just keep working. However, if you like to relax with a great ocean view and awesome climate, this is the place. As far as the staff at Catalina Island Vacation Rentals, they are the best. We met Esther Choi 17 years ago when we first visited the island and were looking for a place to come for a longer stay. She introduced us to 216 C Whittley and has been making our arrangements there ever since. Jamie and Gail who live in 216 D and care for the place are great. We have become friends with them as well. Part of the fondness for returning is to see these folks and others we have come to know around town over the years. All of this happened because we found this wonderful place to stay and have spent real time in Avalon and hiking the entire island. Lastly, I want to mention the McNeils. We have been lucky enough to meet them a couple of times. They are fantastic people. The love they feel for the home is very apparant. They have some pretty good stories as well. If you are lucky, you may get to meet them sometime when you are there. Selfishly, I hope that they never pull the home off of the vacation rental market. It will be hard to find another place that affects my wife and I so much or fits our wants in a place to relax while away from home.

Celebrated a family member's milestone BD over Memorial Day
weekend. Couldn't have chosen a better property - clean, roomy,
modern and homey comfy. The steps are an easy to handle contrast to
the serenity that awaits. The rooftop terrace "topped" it off PERFECTLY!

This is a great property. Everything was in order and we had no issues with it. However; it enden up being our third choice and the location was not what we wanted. Apparently the owners on the first property we reserved changed their minds and wanted to remodel during our reserved time. We were not notified until our arrival and were then given the choices of available units. We chose another property in a similar location and when we arrived to it, it was also bieng renovated. This left us with our last choice of a unit that was further walking distance and had more stairs than we wanted to deal with. Not sure I would reserve again without some guarentee of availability. After all, we have to pay a non-refundable deposit don't we?!

This was our first trip to Catalina Island and what a wonderful trip it was. The house we rented was a few blocks from the main beach and a little hike but what a great view from the top deck above the house. You could see the whole Avalon Bay all I can say is BREATH TAKING!!!! The house had a washer and dryer which is great when you are at the beach all day, and a roomy living space with great views from the main living room. Great place to stay!

We have enjoyed staying here for several years as our familys have gathered in Catalina. This property has a home quality feeling since the owners leave their books and things for us to enjoy. It is up the hill and up the stairs which keeps everyone breathless when you first arrive. The view from the deck is worth the climb. We treat the property with respect and are thankful to the owners for sharing it with us.
