Great birthday trip with a group of friends

Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in March 2013

This rental was great! Visited catalina with 7 friends & 1 baby. The condo had everything we needed in a great location. The rental personnel were very nice and easy to do business with. My only complaint is that there was only 1 roll of toilet paper in the house... and it went fast! :)

      Great weekend

Left on 03/04/2013 for a stay in October 2012

We had a lovely weekend staying in this cottage with another family. The kids all bunked in together. This is not a luxury cottage. Neither is it advertised or priced as one. But its 50 times more comfortable than camping. I know because we have tried camping at Herman's Gulch and the ground on Catalina is hard!
We love the island so if we can find an affordable way to spend a long weekend there we are deliriously happy. This place was perfect, a short walk from the shopping and restaurants in avalon, easy to walk to the beach club at Descanso (much nicer than the town beach). We took the bus up to the Botanical Gardens, and walked back down. We usually hike from there but had a disabled person in our party. By the way the cottage was almost completely wheelchair accessible which we did not expect! (the bathroom and two bedrooms, but not the kitchen. There are a couple of steps into the front door)
I only gave 4 stars because of the kitchen. Due to the position of the oven and the fridge, you really can't cook anything. Of course you don't need to because there are lots of restaurants. We wanted a lovely long breakfast together in the morning. The kitchen should be changed or there should be a warning on the listing that it is not functional. In the end I worked out that you could cook in the oven if you kept the refrigerator door open.
Also avalon is never quiet. If you want peace go to Two Harbors.

26 miles across the sea Santa Catalina is a waitin for me.

The ease of checking in was wonderful. This is about our 11th family trip to the Island and we are planning for many more. I would say this is the house for my family and we've stayed at many. The location is perfect, we love to walk down Catalina Street, many wonderful memories we've shared on that street with friends and family. The placement of bedrooms in this house is great, very easy to access. Everyone was extremely comfortable, who wouldn't be in beautiful Catalina. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay.

This was a really fun little house!

Left on 08/26/2010 for a stay in August 2010

What a cute little house. How do you not love a place that has a giant Marlin and a palm tree mirror on the walls? This is a great house to share with friends or for a small family. It is close to town and the beach but far enough removed for the noise to not be an issue. We had a great time here and whole heartedly recommend to others.

      broken items on the property.

Left on 08/26/2009 for a stay in August 2009

The shower handles in the bathroom did not work... The sink handles in the kitchen did not work... There were ants that I'm sure could have been prevented instead of someone telling me "Oh well, this is Catalina and there are going to be ants." Not an acceptable answer...It would seem to me that everything about the property should be disclosed at the time of rental... The carpets were filthy and needed to be cleaned...We were told we could check in possibly before 3 and had to check the property ourselves to see that the property still had renters in there.. The maids cleaned up the property in about 20 minutes.. Not a great clean job... I am not sure that we will use your service again and probably will not recommend it to our friends.. Your agency should bend over backwards for the rental tenants instead of making excuses... My husband had to clean the fan in the back bedroom himself because when he started it up dust flew everywhere.. Just because the price on this property was lower than the rest does not mean we should have been treated like second class citizens... I expected your agency to bend over backwards for us and for the people who had paid for an extra day and you kept saying it was their fault not yours instead of making other arrangements for them or us at the same price... Any hotel I have stayed at, when they make a mistake they upgrade instead of doing an end around. You should have taken care of the mistake without placing blame and been clearer about the terms and agreements of the property...

      FUN!

Left on 07/22/2009 for a stay in July 2009

This is the first time in our 13 years of coming over as a family that we have stayed "in town", prior to this year we have always been in the condos. Much more convenient to be close to the beach and where the action is - we'll never go back "to the hill". Always a great time in Catalina!

      Fabulous Family time!!

Left on 06/25/2009 for a stay in June 2009

A simple house for a great time in Catalina with your family. We had everything we needed to be comfortable and have fun with my kids and grandkids. Just a short 2 and a half blocks from the beach. We were able to be in the mix of Avalon but still could have quiet times when we needed them.

      Rustic Charmer!

Left on 01/12/2009 for a stay in August 2008

Great location, friendly local neighbors, feels bigger than it is. Carpet is the only negative--really needs to be replaced. Otherwise, this was a great first family vacation house...same street as miniature golf, Vons Express & Marlin Club. Straight shot down the street to the pier. Some traffic noise (what's in those golf carts, jet fuel?), but two back bedrooms not affected. Kids in front bedroom did not complain about it (ages 4 & 5 -- slept right through). Fun place, good value.

      does not have the beds!!!

Left on 01/08/2009 for a stay in July 2006

We depended on the queen sofa bed in the living room, but it did not
exist, there was just a couch....The rental agency had to bring us a
blow up bed. Other than that, for the price it was worth it.
