Think extended family and quiet location, and this is the vacation home for you. This two-level home is located on a private street (no vehicle traffic allowed). It offers a spacious living area with large windows, a dining room, and a large, yet comfortable, kitchen in which to prepare those family meals. All five bedrooms are upstairs and each has its own TV and a collection of books to read. FYI: Fireplace is nonfunctional. A total of 1200 SQ FT. Families only, please. This property rents on a three night minimum basis during the non-summer seasons and on a weekly basis (Sunday to Sunday) in summer (mid-June through Labor Day). Rates vary...Read more

This house reminded me of homes in New England due to the diminutive size of the rooms, with the exception of the kitchen. We only had seven of us (less than the ten-person limit), which made the 2 small bathrooms fine for just a few days. Overall it was a pleasant, clean, charming home. It was nice to have on-site laundry.

Grandma, Grandpa,our kids, spouses and grandkids(from 20 months to 15) stayed for four nights over Thanksgiving. Great house for big group, even cooked a Turkey. Lots of fun things to do, and the location was the best.

Great location children can play outside on the closed street! The
refrigerator doesn't keep things very cold. Under the rugs doesn't
get cleaned by housekeeping staff. Queen bed and king bed aren't
very comfortable. -

We've been coming to this same house for over 4 years now and have signed up for another week next year. We love the house decor and location. The only negative is the kitchen and bathrooms. Kitchen is antiquated and difficult to work in. The bathrooms are to small for ten people. And, there is a horrible smell in the laundry room. Perhaps the fishing equipment was not cleaned before it was locked up. We had to close the door and put towels under the door to contain the smell.

We loved the cozy house with all the great bedrooms. Our group filled everyone of the beds! Also appreciated was the magnificent selection of books and videos. A house to definitely choose again in the futre. The only disappointing moment was when we could not go up on the roof.

Really solid house to rent with large family, esp. with kids. Comfortable rooms & lots of space to spread out. Safe places for toddlers to roam & at least our kids didn't get into too much trouble while wandering around. We rented gates but ended up not using them.
Dishwasher not the most thorough cleaner - which meant that many of the dishes had caked on gunk, which we discovered when we first arrived. However, once we realized that the dishes needed to be rinsed first, the dishwasher was great.
The oven is a old & we had problems with it, but the rental company sent someone over immediately to fix it.Response from Catalina Island Vacation Rentals - 10/10/2011

We appreciate your comments. Avalon has very hard water, and we're experimenting with the best type of dishwasher detergent. We think we're on to something with Cascade Liquid Gel Tabs.
The owner has replaced the oven and refrigerator.

The Wills home is just that...a home. We always love coming to this specific house. It feels like our home. The only negatives would be the small bathroom upstairs, the oven, the refrigerator and the ugly sink. But this does not stop us...we signed up for next year. Yeay!!!

I am a grandmother and rented this house to accomodate myself, my son's and my daughter's families. We were all very comfortable, plenty of room without everyone being on top of each other. Loved all the games, etc. that resulted in very enjoyable moments of family activity. This house is centrally located making it convenient to stores, restaurants, and other retailers. Love the closed off street - great for a family gathering. Will reserve for further family vacations. My only complaint is the bathrooms - they need some updating. When you spend that much on a vacation rental you don't want to be fixing toilets.

Our stay at Catalina was a wet one. The weather was rainy so we had to stay indoors quite a bit. The house we rented was functional. However the heating system was not working upstairs. The nights got cold! We have 3 young children and the other family have the same. Without a bathtub we found bathing very difficult for 6 children in the house. We will probably not rent this home again for these reasons. It did not meet all of our needs.

My wife and I have always enjoyed our visits to Avalon and Catalina Island. During one of those visits, we decided it would be nice to have a "Sims Family" reunion. We stopped by the rental company and came across this particular rental property. It was in a great location, close to the main part of town and the beach. It was large enough to accommodate 9 people, some of who flew in from Denver, CO. Close to shopping, eating and everything the Island has to offer. Even when the hot water heater gave out, the management team was extremely helpful. Would rent this unit again, in a heartbeat!
