San Diego, CAGreat House That Gave Us Wonderful Memories.
Left on 03/20/2013 for a stay in March 2012
This house was perfect for our stay.
We arrived early and were able to check-in early without any problem. Someone offered to show us the location of the house in the case we might get lost. Fortunately, it wasn't necessary and was very easy to find. The door was a little tricky to open after locking but we were able to get fast assistance with getting back in.
Our group had an amazing time in Catalina. The house was spacious, clean upon arrival, and gave a very homely feel. We all felt like it was our home away from home despite it being our first time there. We always talk about going back. We're constantly reflecting on how nice the house was and what a great time it was staying there. -

Camarillo, CAGreat House in avalon!
Left on 09/19/2012 for a stay in September 2012
This was our second time staying at 358 Descanso. This is a wondeful place to stay. We have a large family and we had plenty of room! I only gave 4 stars for the location because it is a little ways from the beach. We like to walk so it was no big deal. Everything else was great! They even found my Mother-in-laws battery charger she left behind and they are going to mail it to us!

San Diego, CASummer family reunion
Left on 08/31/2012 for a stay in August 2012
My family of 10 stayed in this wonderful house for one week during august, 2012. The house fit us perfectly. The kitchen was large, making it very easy to cook dinner for a crowd. The BBQ on the deck was a bonus, and we found a wagon on the side yard which was great for hauling groceries and the smaller kids. Everything was within walking distance, the location was perfect. Had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this house to others.

San Pedro, CAThis is a huge house!!
Left on 08/24/2012 for a stay in August 2012
"The Mermaid" is a large yet cozy house located at the top of Descanso avenue. It is perfect for a large family or for two families to share. The downstairs is decorated with beautiful Catalina decor. There are two remodeled bathrooms and a large kitchen and eating area. Our family loves this house. We have stayed here twice, a week at a time and just loved it. Very relaxing, nice view of the mountains. The decorations in the upstairs bedrooms are a bit funky but can be overlooked because the house is so wonderful. A bit of a walk to the beach but you get used to that as well. Would definately recommend!

Left on 07/18/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We have always appreciated the feeling we get when we come into this home. Our family has been priveledged to visit this home that sleeps 10 for several years now. Our family visits include 4 generations and everyone from greatgrandma to the youngest grandchild feel at home. We treat the home with respect because the owners truly want their guests to feel like we are part of their family, taking pride in each new upgrade. The washer and dryer make packing light. The interesting decor with every imaginable mermaid picture plus other decor make it unique. The downside -- a little bit of a trek to the beach and grocery shopping-

Nor CAFantastic for families
Left on 07/07/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Stayed here with my in-laws and associated family in June 11. The Mermaid, as it's known, is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath vacation house rental. Accomodations are comfortable and quaint. The house is ideal for families and comes with a selection of water and other toys to keep the kids busy. Kitchen is well set up and the charcoal BBQ comes in extremely handy. The proximity to the golf course was nice and walks into town are quick and enjoyable. There is also a playground/park just around the corner to take the kids to. All in all it was a great stay with one exception, that being the noise late at night. I'm not sure if there is a bad element in a nearby house or if it's just a nightly route for the drunks to stumble home, but every night/early morning I was awakened by someone out in the street talking loudly or otherwise just being a nuisance. In all fairness this is not a reason to avoid this place as everything else was great.

Simi Valley, CAGreat Birthday Weekend in Catalina
Left on 11/04/2010 for a stay in October 2010
We loved this house with it's quirkry little windows and little doors in the closets. There was plenty of room for the 9 of us to sleep. The large dining room table was roomy enough for a great card game. We will be back!

Left on 08/26/2010 for a stay in June 2010
Very dissapointed that we were not able to rebook for 2011.
It appears that you only have 2 weeks to rebook for the following year with the week you stay counted as one week.
When I went to confirm our 9th year in a row I was told that we missed the cutoff by 4 days !!! You would think as a
courtsey we would get a call having been such loyal renters.Would like to get a call back from the owner of the property and discuss.

Camarillo, CaFeels like going home
Left on 07/30/2010 for a stay in July 2010
We have stayed at this property for several years and it is always a pleasure to come to our "home away from home." The owners take a lot of pride in their property and seem to upgrade it each year -- sometimes big reconstruction - sometimes small details. They leave family photos out and personalize their property so we feel
like we're guests not renters. -

VenturaGreat Family Vacation!
Left on 06/26/2010 for a stay in June 2010
358 Descanso was the perfect home for our family vacation. There are 10 of us, and we never felt crowded. The front porch is nice and roomy, a good place to sit and relax at the end of the day. The kitchen is much larger than it looks in the photos. We were all able to sit in the same room for dinner together. It is very hard to find a nice place to accomadate a large family, but this was perfect. It is a little far fom the "town" so bring good walking shoes. Also lots of golf cart traffic on the street, which is a little loud. (Nothing a good pair of earplugs won't fix- the gas golf carts are kind of noisy) All and all, I recommend this to large families who like to have some space...

Left on 06/04/2010 for a stay in May 2010
The home was nice, the pictures do not do it justice. It was quaint and roomy. It was close to the boardwalk, a 3 minute walk to the water. The house was clean and very well stocked. We will definitely stay there again.

Left on 04/22/2010 for a stay in April 2010
This house is the best we have rented in Catalina. It is big and very comfortable. It might be a little longer walk than some other places but it was well worth the walk. We had a fabulous time with our troop-plenty of space for all, plenty of kitchen items so we could cook our own food, and having access to internet was great. It was a wonderful weekend.

Fallbrook, CAThe "Real" way to experience Catalina!
Left on 04/12/2010 for a stay in March 2010
My family and I have been vacationing in Catalina the same weekend every year for the past 7 years, this was our first year staying in a rental home versus a hotel.
It was wonderful! This house is very spacious, and great for kids (we didn't have any on our trip but it was obviously great for kids!) They have games and toys available. As well as beach toys and floaties!
We were also very amazed at "everything" that comes with this house! We brought all of our food and drinks over with us, and we had no trouble cooking with all of the kitchenware provided.
I joked at one point that I wish it would rain, so we would have a good excuse just to hang out at the house all day, they have games, puzzles, movies, and books!
Compared to staying at an over-priced hotel and eating out at every meal, this was the way to go! We will never stay in a hotel again!
My only concern was that it was further away from the action than I would have liked, if you're fit it's ok, but if you have any fragile or older people with you, they might find it a bit far. We might get a golf cart next year... Otherwise, fantastic! We will stay here again! -

Westmi;nster, CAFantastic fit for our family
Left on 09/12/2009 for a stay in September 2009
We have stayed in several homes on the island. This one was definitely the best for our family. It was extremely child friendly, including toys in the home and for the beach. We appreciated access to beach toys. The downstairs had a great open floor plan. The kitchen was spacious and included up to date appliances:stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer. The children's bedroom was downstairs and very cute. The upstairs bedrooms were spacious. The bathrooms, both upstairs and downstairs are recently remodeled. We certainly utilized the outside porch space and barbecue, conveniently located off the dining room. The property is located on Desconso which tends to be a bit less traveled. It is right at the end of the street near the golf course, but easy walking distance to town and beach. The service was courteous and wonderful. This including sending us an item we left behind. The total experience was a true VACATION for us.

We,ve been vacationing in Catalina for the past 14 years and have stayed in numerous houses thru Catalina Vacation Rentals. This house was so spacious very open floor plan we really enjoyed the front porch and the walk to the beach was not far, flat with no hills. The only problem was that the washer broke and they didnt fix it before we left that really sucked but they did give us a little refund.Definately renting this same one next summer.

Left on 05/28/2009 for a stay in May 2009
My family and I was extremly surprised that the House that we rented on 358 Descanso Ave for the three days was more than we exspected. I couldn't believe the price, size and condition. My whole entire family really enjoyed the house and our vacation. We never exspected to have beach items to use, baraquer, dishes, laundry and the huge bedrooms etc.
My wife and I will get the word out on the house rentals to our friends, co-workers, and family. I know that the next time my family goes to Catalina Island, we will be coming back to this company.
Thank you so much for the hospitality from your business. -

Chula Vista, CALovely old home with modern comforts
Left on 01/09/2009 for a stay in November 2008
A wonderful home for a family vacation to Catalina. Nice bedrooms upstairs and the downstairs beds are good for the kids to have their own little place. We understand the bathrooms will be remodeled soon, but they were still clean and functional. You can tell this is a house owned by people who love Catalilna and this house in particular.
I'm sure someday they'll get the old fireplace working again, and that would be so nice for a winter visit.
All of the appliances were in top-working order, and we all really enjoyed our visit.
The only small suggestion would be some smaller spoons and plastic cups for the little kids to use without worrying.
A wonderful house in a wonderful place.

Fort Lauderdale, FLGreat home for a larger family
Left on 01/08/2009 for a stay in July 2008
This comfortable vacation rental is quite nice for a large family. There is good gathering space for playing cards, board games or socializing, and the large kitchen was good for food prep. A few kitchen items were missing or in short supply. They need large serving bowls, the baking sheets were in very short supply and they need more stovetop pans. There is also a large wrap around porch with chairs that we enjoyed. All in all, this is a good choice for vacationing with a large family group.

Manhattan Beach, CAWonderful House for Thanksgiving
Left on 01/08/2009 for a stay in November 2008
We rented this home and also one on Eucalyptus as we had a big family Thanksgiving. The kitchen was very well supplied with all of the necessities for dinner. It was a fun experience to be on Catalina Island during the holiday. We have camped numerous times at Little Harbor during the summer but never spent time in Avalon. We certainly enjoyed our stay. I would definitely rent this home again.
