Lincoln, CAAwesome View
Left on 11/02/2012 for a stay in October 2012
I had read some not so favorable reviews about this unit before renting it, but it was pretty much the only one that fit my needs at the time. Its disappointing to see that these units could be much nicer than they are. I rated the unit average because its like any other business. As long as they can keep people renting it, there is no real need to keep it anything above average. The white covers on the sofa and chair need to be seriously cleaned are thrown out. We put covers over the covers because they are simply nasty. In one of the bedrooms the comforter was just as nasty...the sheets were clean as was the topper under the comforter so we just removed the comforter. The unit has a grill which would have been perfect, but it was so dirty it was beyond use. By the way, I mentioned all these things when we checked out and I got the impression...they had heard it all before...I was left with the old..."we'll get on it right away"...sucker! If you plan to save money and do some serious cooking...don't. The kitchen was nice except one of the stove top burners didn't work (electric), but there are no really decent pots and pans to use...so bring your own and actually I brought a stove top grill pan which we made work for most everything we cooked. Look...the view is truly amazing!! Its quite a climb up the stairs to the unit, but you can actually walk down to the unit as well...so upon arrival with luggage...make sure the taxi lets you out at the upper 60/70 series units. Took us a day or so to figure that out. There are probably better units and there are probably worse units. The bathrooms were fine with plenty of clean towels and we were able to do laundry just outside the unit which is a huge plus for us...don't like traveling with dirty clothes. Internet took some time to figure out. If it doesn't work and you can't get it to work based on the instructions...push the reset button on top of the black router...it worked perfectly after that.

Lomita, caSlice of heaven
Left on 07/26/2012 for a stay in June 2012
After being there staying in another amazing apartment we had arranged to stay in another and was given this even more beautiful apartment for our last night.
The decor was so comfortable and relaxing, felt like a home away from home. We could imagine it was our own slice of heaven and were sad to have to leave.
The management company did everything they could to help us when we wanted to stay an extra day and are very friendly.
The location was perfect, not that the area is too big to be far from much but the golf cart truly helped.
The best is hard to choose but the worst is the stairs to get to the apartment, anyone with any sort of problems going up stairs would have a hard time. -

Although the location and the view from our room was beautiful, this was our first time staying in a vacation rental home, and we were quite surprised that certain details were overlooked in such a beautiful space. First, The rug in the living area was filthy. Second, there were items left under the bed in the guest room that you could see while laying in bed facing the mirror. Third and worst of all, when we took the rug up in the living room because it was so dirty, we could see silverfish moving in and through the carpeting which prompted us to move the couches and vacuum. When we did that, we saw more silverfish...lots of silverfish at least 25-30. When we called customer service, someone did come right over and spray. We didn't see anymore after that. But mentally, having seen so many in the beginning, it took away from our ability to really relax which is why you go on vacation in the first place. With all this being said, our vacation was average because we were not really able to relax in our living space. Other than this, the property is lovely and we would come again but we would ask more questions and find out our rights in terms of switching units when we arrive if we are not satisfied.

We took my daughter and her cousin for an overnight stay for her 16th birthday and it was gorgeous!
The condo was immaculate, the view was spectacular and the the girls had a blast!
Having use of the golf cart was such a bonus! We rode down and fed deer, explored the island, went kayaking, played tennis, swam, worked out and had lovely meals.
We are definitely going to stay here again! -
Weekend Fun in Catalina
Henderson, NVNice but not Perfect
Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in August 2011
The pictures online are accurate of it's current remodel. The view is incredible and the mattresses in both bedrooms are really comfortable. The onsite gym, pool & jacuzzi are very nice. Down by the dock/beach there is a kids swing set, bathrooms, picnic tables and mounted palapas for shade. There is a tiny unloading dock that you can get in/out of but it is easiest if you have a shore boat to transport people & luggage in and out on. On the other hand, this was the only unit available when we booked so we didn't have much of a choice with its horrible location directly in the middle of the first building on a bluff! Luckily, it was just 2 couples and no kids in the condo and we packed light and brought minimal groceries. No matter which way you decide to go (up or down) there are 84 steep steps to your front door, which makes it exhausting! It was very nice to have the golf cart included in the rental because it is way too far to walk into town from Hamilton Cove. Since the rental office is in town, it makes it difficult checking in and out without the golf carts on the rental office site. It would be niocer if you could leave the keys in the unit upon checkout. Also, there were no hot mits in the condo (ouch!) and the pots, pans, knives selection was very limited. They only had 2 tall chairs on patio and need at least 4, so everyone can see the great view. Also, the linens & pillows had some stains on them in the guest bedroom. We would love to come back to Hamilton Cove again; however, we will come when we can book a unit with fewer stairs.

Unit needs attention
1-60Unit needs attention
Left on 09/03/2009 for a stay in August 2009
We enjoyed our stay at Hamilton Cove and will return again, however, the unit that we were in, was lacking the attention that a rental unit needs. The guest bathroom fan was so loud, that it was a great source of irritation. The faucets in the shower/tub, in the master bathroom, are broken and difficult to turn off and on because it is missing handles. There were dirty linens on the closet floor, left in a pile and found when we arrived. The kitchen, could use a large bowl or two, a decent chopping knife, and a new dishwasher. Dishwasher did not work, I had to start it on pots and pans and it worked sometimes, otherwise, I had to run it two and three times for one load of dishes ,and ended up most of the time just washing them by hand.
I was never told that we had 80 steps to climb, I asked way too late, after contracts were signed and we were ready to go. Eighty steps should have been revealed at the beginning of negotiations.
Patio, had only 4 chairs outside and no folding chairs to be foud. Two propane tanks left with no propane gas, not a drop.

I believe you all received our emails regarding this property. Even with $100 being taken off the rental fee, someone really screwed up. The carpet was terribly dirty (cleaned Saturday am), the smelly garbage disposal didn't work, nor did the dishwasher. Dirty linen was laying all over the master bedroom closet. Yes, the view was terrific, but the unit's condition left us very disappointed with the overall ambience. We had a lousy weekend.

Encinitas, CANice place, good location
Left on 08/13/2009 for a stay in August 2009
This the first time we stay in Hamilton Cove. It was excellent location to stay at. The communication for rental place was great and picking and dropping off the keys was easy. The views were very nice from the condo. The condo had the basic essentials for cooking. It also came with towels , shampoo and soap like you would get in hotel. We also love having the golf cart to drive , it may trips to Avalon nice. The condo has a decent amount of steps about 50 or so. But it also had stairs leading to balcony which made nice for the wet stuff so we did not have track through the condo. The cable modem was confusing at first. We did not realize that it need to be connected directly to the laptop. It also have DVD player for the tv and at first we thought it was not working. But we realize later that it was not connected correctly to the tv and got it working and was able to watch movies. We are planning to come back again possible next year and would definitely stay here again.

Hamilton Cove is like a city built into the hillside that you might find in Italy. Georgeous property, outstanding views and very clean. Lovely, sunny patio overlookiing the complex and the sea. Our unit, I-60, was good. Nice master suite and second bedroom. One thing I would criticize is that the dishwasher left an awful film on the glasses, like they were rolled in sand, so we ended up washing our dishes by hand. Could it have just been the water there? It also would have been nice if tere was a lttle laundry detergent - I ended up buying a whole bottle for just one load of towels.
It would have been nice if there was a concierge around for help if we needed it, or for directions, suggestions, etc.
We were disappointed that there was not a good way to walk to town other than on a small, dusty street, but the golf cart worked fine. -

Service was great. Our stay in Catalina was great. We have stayed many
times at Hamilton Cove but have rented with another agency. We love the
amenities at HC. However, this was not the best unit we have rented for
several reasons. I would recommend the following be addressed for future
renters. I would not rent this unit again as it is currently.
-Get a new coffee pot. The carafe is from another coffee maker and it was
difficult to make coffee without it making a mess on the counter
-Make sure it is stocked with necessary basics for example, there was no
cutting board or sponge to wash dishes. We also could not find a broom.
-More dining chairs needed. We were a group of 5 and there were only 3
dining chairs.
-Remove posters-this is a personal taste issue but when spending a total of
1000 dollars for two nights we found the several thumb tacked posters
unattractive.
-Repair DVD We had 3 children and brought several movies but the player
did not work.
-Repair windows and blinds. Several did not work or open properly.
-Clean/sweep the terrace. It seems it has not been cleaned for some time.
Lots of dirt and bird droppings.
Sorry for the long list. We still had a great weekend and love the island.
