This please really needs some work.

Left on 10/11/2012 for a stay in October 2012

Ok, first the good. You're on Catalina island in October and the weather is perfect. Sitting on the balcony enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning and looking out over the water is really great.
Now the not so good. Walking back into the unit from the balcony. This unit is sorely in need of an update.
Every wall needs to be repainted, they are all marked up.
Every piece of wood (doors, baseboards, cabinets) needs to be sanded, filled and refinished, they are all banged up.
The door stopper for the water closet is broken/gone so the door handle has punched a hole in the wall.
The lighting in the bathroom is poor. The lighting in the BR is almost non-existent.
The blinds are in bad shape, they are the cheapest ones available.
The furniture is old and outdated. Ditto for the dishes, they look like odds and ends that the owner had left over or found at a garage sale. Really, it costs so little to go to Ikea and pick up a set of matching dishes that would look so much better.
The same goes for pretty much everything else with this unit, it's just really time for the owner to step up and spend some money on the place. The one bathroom is quite large and could be made so much nicer.
The golf card was broken when we arrived, the key switch fell out when I put the key in. Civr was great about getting it fixed but it's still very old and dirty and stinky. We had no hot water for the first two mornings but Civr got it fixed as quickly as they could.
Will we stay at Hamilton Cove again? Definitely. But not in unit 1-68.
I have nothing but good things to say about Civr, they were great. Responsive to problems, and very friendly.

      Wonderful!

Left on 07/26/2012 for a stay in July 2004

We enjoyed the condo very much. I have stayed many places in Catalina and Hamilton Cove is definitely the best. Cvir (Rental agency) were courteous and helpful. The only thing I would change about the condo is the couch is a bit worn and dirty. I do not understand why it has not been washed since it zips off. But aside from that I will be back for sure!~!!!

We love this place and will definitely stay again and again! The view is amazing and the accommodations are perfect for our small family. We love having the flexibility of a kitchen, washer and dryer plus a golf cart to ride around town. The golf cart is a huge plus! The only downside was that the dishwasher wasn't working when we stayed this past May.

The view of the ocean from the balcony at sunset is gorgeous!

Left on 06/01/2012 for a stay in May 2012

My wife and our two young children really enjoyed our weekend vacation in this unit. The views were amazing and the single floor layout makes everything convenient. I couldn't give it a 5 star rating only because the unit is starting to show its age a bit but it is still quite nice.

We would highly recommend 1-68 as a villa to stay at. With exception of not having Sprint internet service and the reverse osmosis not working the accommodations and the view were wonderful.

Hamilton Cove is Beautiful but be careful which villa you choose

Left on 07/20/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We've stayed in this villa before and it was fine but over the last couple years it has gone down hill. Beautiful view more than adequately furnished but absolutely no upkeep. For example: Golf cart breaks didn't work, comforter and blanket absolutely filthy, white walls covered with black hand prints, toilet dirty, bathtub didn't hold water, shower head clogged, tv cables loose and not working, one kitchen towel no cloth just old unsanitary sponge, no sheets or pillow cases for kids beds, couch pillows filthy. I love Catalina Island Vacations they are the best just ask them which units are the best they'll tell you.

Left on 07/30/2010 for a stay in July 2010

I could get nit-picky over little things but this place was so great! The view of the ocean, the beauty of the surrounding villas, landscape - Island was wonderful. The 18 hole mini-champ putting course was a blast and so fun - actually it made me feel like a little kid in the movie Goonies :) We will never stay anywhere else that the Hamilton Cove Villas - this is our place to stay from now on. We loved it!

We did fill out our questionnaire at check out and handed it in, so I'm not sure why I have to fill out another.

The location was good. Our golf cart had issues the first day, so we had to address right away.

The interior of the rental needs upgrade. The dining room seat cushions were gross (stained and torn).

The king bed was too soft and I believe it had some sort of pad on top or even a futon top. Not comfortable or good support for my back.

This is our third time at Hamilton Cove, staying at different unit each time. This unit has a great patio/view and perfect for a couple with two young kids. We have a 5 yr old and a 2 yr old.

Only complaint is the cooking ware was lacking. Also no wine glasses!!!!

      Dirty paint and damaged walls

Left on 04/15/2010 for a stay in March 2010

The setting of the complex was spectacular and the overall maintenance of the complex on the outside was very good. Pool, spa, weight room, etc. were all great. Golf cart was fine. Where the whole thing fell down was inside the condo. There were several places in the living room where the walls were scarred up and dirty. Ditto for inside the bathroom/toilet area. Under the furniture there was dirt and debris on the rugs---the furniture could be moved and the rug vacuumed and that would solve the problem.
Other than the shabby condition of the walls and rugs, everything in the condo worked fine, cupboards were well stocked with condiments, etc. Good dishes and silver-----kitchen was clean, no bugs, etc. Overall, good experience and enjoyable vacation!

      Disappointment with accommodations

Left on 04/05/2010 for a stay in March 2010

I wrote a lengthy critique on the card provided by CI Vacations Rentals. We saw
the fireplace in pictures and looked forward to using it but discovered you
have to haul wood or buy Presto Logs. We had heavy luggage and had to walk
down then up 62 steps which was hard for me as I have both knees replaced.
The bed was probably the worst I have ever slept in. The walls in the LR were
scarred, dirty and needed repainting. There were no wine glasses (2 small
champagne flutes) It really needs freshening up!

Left on 08/20/2009 for a stay in August 2009

We really enjoyed our getaway. View from the unit was gorgeous. Only
complaint was the futon couches could get a bit uncomfortable after a while.
Also, we had a malfunction of an alarm in the utility closet across from the
entry door each night of our stay. The rental company/guards were very
helpful and came each night to turn it off, but it was a hassle. Also, the tv
could have been larger. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful time and would
      certainly return.

My girlfriend though we were headed to Catalina for a quiet weekend away at one of our favorite destinations - Catalina. I had a different plan in mind and flew us over to the island where I got down on my knee and asked her to marry me. We couldn't have found a better place to celebrate our engagement... from the beautiful ocean view to the fully stocked kitchen where we cooked a romantic dinner for 2. We had everything we needed and would definitely recommend this rental and Catalina Island Vacation Rentals to friends and family. The golf cart was a superb addition to our trip as well : ) Thanks for helping me create a memory to last a lifetime.... we'll be back!!

Left on 02/27/2009 for a stay in February 2009

This is a great one bedroom vacation rental. If you think you are going to sneak in more than 4 people...find another place. My wife, 2 kids (5&7) and I fit fine, but maxed it out. I would suggest taking a few extra sheets and pool towles. Kitchen is great and everything worked effortlessly. There are 52 steeps to enter and exit. The pool (heated) and the hot tub were great. The view is incredable!! You look directly out to the ocean from any window in the condo. BBQ on balcony works great. The included golf cart is a great extra. We hope to stay here again next year.

We laughed at how well stocked the kitchen was...it was better than our own home! Everything you'd need was there. The bed was really comfy, too!

Fabulous views. Incredibly comfortable and relaxing. The fireplace gave great karma! Beautifully decorated!

I can't wait to get back!

The only down side to the home was that there were numerous maintenance items. The grill was filled with ashes, sand and rocks which prevented even heating. I cleaned it. There wasn't a full set of matching dishes, glasses, cups, pots/pans. No grilling tools. Cell phones don't work anywhere in the cove. Minimal internet service. Needs paint and a bigger TV! In spite of these minor inconveniences, I would rent this place in a New York Minute!

      Gorgeous view and cozy villa

Left on 01/08/2009 for a stay in September 2008

My name is Jenn and I am one of those women that are really hard to please when it comes to rooms I book on vacations. I will only book jacuzzi suites and this was the first time I did not and I was amazed. I stayed with 2 of my best guy friends at Hamilton Cove Villas Saturday and Sunday in September 2008 for my 23rd birthday and I am so glad I did. The view is to die for. It really feels like you are some beautiful secluded island. Do not waste your money on any hotel in town. I checked all the reviews on Expedia, TripAdvisor etc. and you will be dissapointed because everything looked so old and overpriced. For these two nights one night was in season and one was off season and I can't recall how much I exactly paid with processing and cleaning fees but it was about $800 with the damaige deposit waiver. I actually do not think the extra $35 for the damaige deposit waiver is needed because we were all responsible and respectful adults. The likelihood of breaking anything is slim. I highly recommend booking any Hamilton Cove Villa with a view, I believe this particular villa was large and cozy and you will be happy with it. The golf cart is an extra plus. I can't wait to come back and stay with Hamilton Cove Villas again. I honestly believe that coming to Catalina without staying in one of these villas is the biggest mistake you will ever make.

OMG! We had the most wonderful time at our Villa in Catalina. Not only was the view every morning and evening but the fresh ocean breeze blowing through the home was fantastic. Also having a golf cart to get around was a HUGE BONUS! It was nice to have a place only a couple minutes away from the main area that was quiet and peaceful. Watching the boats and the kayaking go by was also relaxing. The water was warm for the month of September so kayaking and hanging out on the beach was wonderful. The wildlife around the island also made it peaceful! I also loved how once you were there a couple of days, everyone starts to remember you and you remember them. You truely feel like family on the island. My favorite part was the last morning there, the fog was rolling in, and being up in Hamilton Cove I was able to video tape the fog rolling in on the hills and literially disappear. I was so beautiful! I would recommend Hamilton Cove over any other property there on the island.

      Hope this information helps!
