Manhattan Beach, CASunrise View was superb!
Left on 05/09/2013 for a stay in May 2013
This 1 bedroom unit which faces the Pacific Ocean and Orange County coastline is clean and quiet. Decorated in a European country style it is warm and homey. My favorite was the trundle daybed, tucked in a corner of the living room where I could lounge with my iPad, watch TV, and had a fresh air view of the northern Catalina coast through the window alongside. There are few steps involved in reaching the unit and while the deck is part of a long common stretch, it is cordoned off enough to feel very private.

We have stayed in 1-76 on at least 3 others occasions. The decor is now boring, not exciting. There has always been enough supplies. There were only 2 rolls of toilet paper for two people for 1 week. Only 1 bar of soap, 2 dried up pouches of dish washing detergent etc. We were told by the property management only enough supplies were there to "get us started". If we were only there for two is would have been great but we had paid for a week. We move the TV stand and there was a family of dust bunnies under it. Maintenance had to come and fix the Bar B Q to use. The place was just not up to our previously experienced standard.

Catalina Island Vacation Rentals
Manager
Dear Guest,
Thanks for taking the time to post your review. Just to clarify, our policy has been to have housekeeping supply two rolls of toilet paper and one paper towel roll as starters. That is fairly standard in the vacation rental industry, and one of the differences from hotels. Bathrooms are supplied with face soap, bath soap and shampoo. The dish washer detergent, liquid dish soap, trash bags and recycling bags are supplied by our company. Perhaps you only mentioned the toilet paper when you called. Our mistake was not inquiring further. We would also have gladly sent housekeeping to clean under the TV stand. We do have maintenance and housekeeping staff available, and a 24 hour emergency line.
Thank you again for staying with Catalina Island Vacation Rentals,

IrvineA wonderful weekend
Left on 10/11/2012 for a stay in September 2012
I recently celebrated yet another birthday at Hamilton Cove Villa 1-76 and was delighted with it. The view of the full moon over the ocean was breathtaking. The balcony was small but functional and perfect for morning coffee. The bedroom was situated in such a way that you could see the ocean from your bed through the expansive double french doors. A golf cart was included in the rental price and was really fun once we figured out that the engine must die before you can shift gears. A delightful stay I would love to do again.

My husband and I took a three night get-away, midweek, and had the most delightful stay at Hamilton Cove. Having the use of a golf cart made all the difference in the world... no taxis, seeing the whole island, etc. The hightlights of the trip was seeing a huge pod of dolphin just in front of the complex and having lunch at the Hershey Mansion. It was quiet, well appointed and well worth staying there. We will certainly go back. Jan and Mark M.

Nice condo, just right for a couple ,only 31 steps from the main drive in. Everything was perfect, checked into room at 1:00 pm. Golfcart worked like a champ. Spent $7 on gas for a 2 day stay. Bed was "comfy" View was spectacular, rental agency did their job ,no screw-ups. The taxi driver will take your keys back to the main office for you, when you leave to get on the Island Express ferry. Just make sure you bring laundry soap if you plan on washing clothes and goggles if you plan on swimming in the ocean. We will be back,,,Thanks

Left on 08/09/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We absolutely loved our stay at 1-76, it was a great place with almost all the amenities we needed. The only thing is we wish the check out could be 11:00am, I felt we were rushed to leave and they were unable to accommodate our late check out request. Other then that, the amenities, golf cart, views, minim golf, crochet, pool, fishing dock, etc. were awesome! We will definitely stay there again.

Beautiful view. I look forward to renting again. -

Left on 07/18/2012 for a stay in July 2012
From friendly service that was not in-your-face to a great condo with an outstanding view, this vacation exceeded my expectations. The condo is as advertised, and exactly as the pictures show. I will definitely consider returning in the future.
The only thing that I was slightly disappointed by was that the "beach" in Hamilton cove is mostly rocks- not a sand beach. This has nothing to do with the unit itself though.

The place was great !!!!! WHAT A VIEW !!!!
DVD and Tape player a nice touch.
Bathroom was OUTSTANDING !!!!!
Could use a TV in the bedroom, but what the heck !!
Golf cart was running rough and backfiring quite a bit.
I was a little disappointed by the attitude of your staff when we were checking out. I advised them of the golf cart needing a tune-up and that the gas station hours on your guest information sheet still showed the old gas station operating hours (an extra trip "over the hill" to gas up the next day when we arrived at the gas station at 4pm the previous day to fuel (new hours are that station closes at 3:30) was a pain).
Catalina Vacation staff member politely listened to my two complaints at check-out, but I saw no memo writing or action response from the staffer. -

Although the trip got off to a rough start, I would still highly recommend it. The door was a little tricky to get into and if you have never used a golf cart better instructions in the golf cart would be helpful. Aslo, transportation to and from is like $20 to go a mile, but we actually found a way around that when we left. Okay that's my only complaints. This place was absolutely gorgeous and the view was awesome!!! You could be in the kitchen cooking dinner with an awesome view. Next time my wife and I agreed that we woudl bring binoculars. Having been to Hawaii, I can say that the resort and Catalina itself have it's similarities. It feels like you are far from home. The putting course was a lot of fun! And the private beach is also very nice. I can't wait to come back. I would definitely come back again in April or May since the weather was still beautiful, light crowds, and cheaper prices. House was very well furnished and has everything you need and then some.

We were looking for upscale accommodations to celebrate our wedding anniversary and booked I-76 for a two night stay.
Promotional pictures often do lie but this property did not disappoint. The Mexican theme was delightful, the high up on the hillside ocean overlook wonderful and waking to see a cruise ship coming into Avalon framed by the rising sun was just plain old romantic!
Really couldn?t make any suggestions relative the amenities because anything and everything we came to need we also came to find in one drawer or another and in excellent condition. The staff who maintain the property and grounds deserve compliments for cleanliness.
On constructive suggestions I?d suggest but these. The canopy of the bed should be hemmed to compliment the image. We weren?t there in the summer but no AC in CA? On to steps, and I?m sure you have heard it all before. The elevation changes to and from the parking areas could be daunting for some and even those inside the property were tricky in the dark! Would we go back! Of course we would and ask for I-76! -

We did not start our trip off right because we were moved after signing contracts and paying in full. The condo we were moved to was fabulous. Unfortunately, there was no mattress for the trundle bed. When we requested one, I felt that the staff was trying to be accomodating but became impatient with our requests. In fact 1 staff member was rather snotty on the phone with me.
Make sure you are getting what your contract states.
Thank goodness for dad who owns in Hamilton Cove. -

Left on 03/07/2009 for a stay in February 2009
We have stayed at Hamilton Cove three times now, and have loved every experience. But this unit is our favorite so far. The decor and set up are great. With it being one of the first units as you enter, it was very convenient for driving, and there are just a few steps to take down to the the entrance. The jacuzzi tub was great, and the bathroom was a larger size which my wife loved. We absolutely loved it! Defintely coming back.

Left on 01/28/2009 for a stay in February 2008
We've been coming to Catalina every year since we got married (our
7th year now); every year, we tried staying some place new. In 2008,
we rented this beautiful condo in Hamilton Cove. The place is warm,
inviting, cozy, and reasonable! We loved it so much, we booked it
again for the same time this year! We highly recommend this place! I
especially LOVED the Jacuzzi tub! A little music, wine and candles and
I felt myself slipping away into bliss. The view wasn't too bad either!
Looking forward to many more visits in the year to come! -

My husband and I who have never been to Catalina decided to visit during the off season. As it turned out we had a great time and enjoyed seeing the island in a sweat shirt with less crowds. When we travel we prefer to stay in a condo becuase we enjoy having all the conveniences of home. This specific unit is decorated very nicely and was quite comfortable. The golf cart also made for and easy commute to town.

my husband and I have rented several properties like this and must
say we expected much more for the cost of this unit. found the view
spectacular, loved the lay-out, although upon arrival there were no
towels, hardly any T.Paper and the floors were so dirty that I had to
wash my feet before putting my shoes on. We expected the unit to
have some of the basic starter thing, after traveling all day we had to
go to the store for basic needs.

Nice - comfortable furniture - especially outside. The decor is not nice - we wanted to run out and get some paint and a staple puller. Love the open wall/door from the bedroom to look out to the view. Needs more kitchen utensils, pots, pans.

Left on 12/22/2008 for a stay in October 2008
The place was decorated very nicely, actually, very whimsically. It was a very special decor. My husband fixed the shower head. It was clogged with calcium deposits and allowed very little water to use for a shower. He wanted a full shower so he cleaned out the holes with one of my syringes. He accidently stabbed himself and felt stupid but he got a great shower. And I enjoyed the spa tub. We thoroughly enjoyed the view. It was fantastic, especially at night. You could see miles and miles of the coast line of California mainland. The weather turned bad and we wished we had sides on the golf cart, especially when the waves crashed against the harbor wall and soaked us, but it was an adventure. We've been to Jamiaca, Bahamas, Bora Bora, and this was every bit as beautiful, fun and only 26 miles from the mainland and no airplane travel. We'll come back. Nothing lacked in the kitchen; blender, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, beautiful dishes. It was very well equiped. We even had company. As we sat and ate breakfast one morning, a seagull stopped by to visit, actually several. We never used the fireplace or the grill but it was nice to know they were there.

Woodland Hills, UtahAbsolutely Amazing Vacation Spot!
Left on 12/18/2008 for a stay in September 2008
We loved this whole vacation because of where we were lucky enough to stay! We had a beautiful condo that was decorated to make us feel like we were in Italy with a private deck looking over the ocean, it was amazing! The condo was spacious and we just really loved every minute we spent there. We also were provided with a golf cart so we could zip around the island, was fun! The resort itself is incredible and immaculately taken care of. We just could not really have been happier. Everything was professionally handled and we didn't have any problems whatsoever, would highly recommend it and we plan to return year after year for our anniversary!
