We enjoyed our stay very much. The 4 of us had a great time. The condo was very comfortable not fansy but nice. Great location and view. Golf cart was a plus. and got us around. Only suggestion would be if the rooms all had a quiet celling fan. It was hot when we were there. The girls at the office, were great, very helpful and so nice. Will surely come back.

My husband, our 3 teenage sons and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The condo is very clean, and kitchen is well stocked with basic dishes and cooking tools. The only negative thing is, the condo gets very hot and stuffy in the warm summer afternoons, and stays so all night. The fan in the master bedroom makes a loud clicking sound, making it too noisy for sleep. Fan needs to be serviced. Also, a flat screen TV would be a welcome upgrade. But we would return in a heartbeat!!!

Malibu, CaBest place to stay in Catalina
Left on 08/16/2012 for a stay in August 2012
The process of renting a Condo at Hamilton Cove could not have been easier. Everything was done online and the only thing left to do was pick up a key in town. We came over on a private boat and moored right in front of the cove making the experience a great one. Hamilton Cove has to be the nicest accomodations in Catalina and with a good dinghy dock, beaches, shore facilities, cook pits, sand volleyball court, pool, spa, gym, 18 hole putting course, and tennis courts it has more to do than the town of avalon. All the facilities were very well maintained, staff that we encountered were very nice, and acess to town was very easy. The unit we stayed in was very nice with great views every morning. Only complaint is the fold out couch has seen better days and the matress and frame were impossible to sleep on. In conclusion we had a great 5 days there and plan on coming back soon.

Hamilton cove is a little piece of the Mediterranean in the most unexpected place. We had gone as a group of four to stay in the apartment located in Hamilton cove, three of us had been to Catalina countless times over the years and for one it was the first time to cross the open water to avalon. It didn't matter, we all stood in awe of the beauty and then amazement as we couldn't believe we were still in la county.
It's location is so conveniently close to everything we wanted to do, the fact we had the use of a golf cart made it even more adventurous as we rode all over the island area.
The apartment was relaxing, the view was magnificent and there was nothing more we could have asked for when staying there. It was very clean and well kept. The management staff were accommodating and helpful.
The best part was just being there, the worst unfortunately was the stairs. There were too many for anyone not good with stairs, and it made taking the luggage up very time consuming. But the stairs are a small inconvenience. -

Hamilton Cove is a perfect place to stay with the family. We rented two condos. Ours 1-56 was the largest and had carpet for our granddaughter to crawl around. The place had plenty of seating but the one couch had a rip and some of the furniture was very used. The beds were both comfortable and we so enjoyed having a golf cart to get around. Some minor things went wrong and the manager was very accommodating and helpful. Our three families enjoyed the view of the ocean and the patio often and bar-b-qued our dinners. We could all fit around the kitchen table which was nice. A family of four or two families of our can easily enjoy this place.

For the amount of money we paid, we expected a unit in better condition. The view and location was perfect. The unit was nice but does need some TLC. New paint( kitchen, dining and living room ceiling), new furniture( replace uncomfortable, torn, worn out couches and chairs in living room)new dishes and utensils(replace chipped and mismatched dishes and utensils)A new TV would be nice. If these items were to be completed the unit would be worth the amount charged and even more.

My family stayed in the most beautiful Hamilton Cove Villa #1-56 for our summer vacation this year. It was perfect! The view from the master bedroom balcony was breathtaking and included a grill. The kids were so happy. The villa had a closet stocked with beach toys, games, basketball, tennis and golf equipment that made going to the beach and outdoor activities so great for the kids. My son enjoyed the private beach, private pool and tennis court. He had a wonderful time, and especially enjoyed eating grilled cheeseburgers on the restaurant style tables on the balcony. It was a great villa and complex. It was a very special summer family vacation.

Great views - lots of stairs to climb so don't bring a lot of "stuff". The queen beds seem smaller than queens. The sofa is in terrible shape and the sofa bed - don't bother to sleep on it. There is no aerobed Queen matress - there is only a "single camping matress" that deflats by morning. We had six people and it was difficult for the two that had to use the living area to sleep to have a good night sleep. Everything else is good. Views, pool, jacuzzi. The golf cart needs some work too - you can hear us coming from a football field away - so very noisy - and hardly makes it up hills (which is something you need there).

We had a good time, the golf cart was extremely useful. View was great, pullout couch mattress leaves something to be desired but couch itself was comfortable.

My fiance and I had a terrific stay here! We definitely felt that we got plenty of value out of this spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo. It was more than enough space for the two of us. The condo had great views of the coastline where many excursions such as snorkling take place. The facility also had a tennis court that one could partake in.
The location was a bit away from the main down town area but the golf cart rental that comes with the unit made traveling down town fun and a piece of cake. Checking in was a slight mystery as we weren't sure where the offices were but the staff did us a great service by dropping off the keys at the taxi stand. When checking out, you'll need to be sure to contact a taxi cab in advance as making a trip down hill to the rental offices is about 2 miles.
We would definitely make another trip back to this great location and we would invite at least one other couple with us as there's plenty of space for 4 with room for up to 6 people. -

I went with 3 girlfriends and had a wonderful time. Cab ride from boat dock was under $20. Don't forget to stop at the Check-in counter in downtown avalon to get the key to the condo. Best part of the condo - it came with a golf cart! We had fun driving to town and getting around. Very friendly and nice staff. Very safe for girls traveling alone too.

Denver, CONice comfortable villa
Left on 01/09/2009 for a stay in October 2008
I recently spent a long weekend on Catalina Island at Hamilton Cove.
This is not the first time I have stayed in villas at Hamilton Cove.
This villa does have dazzling views from the living room and master bedroom. And the balcony is wonderful. It is very spacious, allowing for privacy and would easily accomodate 4-6 people.
I would definitely recommend this villa especially if you are bringing kids as it is not fancy and the furniture and fixtures are older.
The proximity to the pool, fitness room and beach volleyball is definetely a plus, especially if vacationing with a family. As well as the laundry room located right outside the front door.
The bathrooms do not have counter or cabinet space, so storage of toiletries can be an issue.
The golf cart was older and did not have plastic shields nor a cover, which could be problematic if weather is anything other than ideal.
I will be back to Hamilton Cove next year, but perhaps not to this villa.

I already did this review shortly after our stay. Please check your records.
The mattressess were very very uncomfortable. For all the money spent nightly the beds should be extremely comfortable. Vactioners should be told, that no condiments of any kind are in the kitchen ie: Salt, pepper, sugar. -

Dazzling view is about all that was dazzling about this condo. The rental definitely needs some attention by its owner. The condo is not worth the rental price. I will never rent this condo again unless it's remodeled.
The condo made our stay in Catalina not memorable and we have been coming for 4 years to the Jazz festival.Response from Catalina Island Vacation Rentals - 04/23/2009

The Hamilton Cove community is fabulous and the rental group in downtown was very accomodating and friendly. The views are spectacular and we enjoyed the patio much of the time. We stayed in 6/08 and our issues may have been resolved, but if you have choices on units I would ask some questions. Our issues were that the carpets were dirty, slip cover on sofa and leather couch were dirty, one of the Eames chairs was broken but screwed back together (not so successfully), two windows would not open, bbq was rigged together, the front of the refrigerator was rusted and had broken shelves. If you are renting last minute and don't have choice of units and realize you're getting "campy" in a luxury community, then have a great time! We loved the golf cart. We'll absolutely go back but will choose another unit.
