      Absolutely wonderful

Left on 03/28/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We had an excellent time staying at Hamilton Cove. From the minute we got off the ferry, we found the location for key pick up easily and took a very quick taxi ride to the cove. The unit we had was set high up on the hill with incredible views. The area is completely self-sustained with fabulous amenities, the most important of which was access to a golf cart so we could enjoy the island at our leisure with no worry about the expensive golf cart rental rates. We felt like we were in some incredible Greek island but in actuality, only a few hours from our southern California home.
We definitely want to go back

      Wow! What a view!!

Left on 09/20/2012 for a stay in September 2012

From the very beginning, our trip was all we could ask for. Our contact at Catalina Vacations, Chay, was so great in giving me all of the info I needed. We arrived early and they allowed us to take our bags up to the villa until the housekeeping staff completed cleaning. Very accommodating! We loved our villa! It was very comfortable and the views were fabulous. Once we got settled in, it was truly a relaxing vacation. We will definitely be returning.

View from deck while having coffee in the morning.

      A little disappointed.

Left on 08/15/2012 for a stay in August 2012

The vistas are amazing amazing, I felt like I was in the Italian Riviera, but when I arrived at 4:00PM for my birthday, the villa was not ready, it had not been cleaned from the previous stay, food crumbs, dirty sheets, bathroom dirty, it was very disappointing and was not a great start, since we were only staying one night.

I called the main office and they were very helpful and did try everything to make amends, the customer service was great, they tried to rectify the problem as best as they could. The general manager also stopped by to apologize, so it made it a little better.

They gave me a discount and had the cleaning service come immediately.

When we got back they had cleaned everything except the coverlets which were filthy and stained, that really grossed us out, especially since they had been on the floor when we arrived...

Great, well kept facilities, not crowded, heated pool, tennis courts, mini putt, croquet...beautiful grounds, views are to die for from this unit. The villa interior is ok( needs updating), the exterior does not reflect the interior...the views are amazing which makes it almost worth it to come back if they had clean coverlets...

It was one of those days. We had a great time in Catalina regardless.

      Wonderful Views!

Left on 07/26/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Overall we rented the villa because of the views it showed online. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the kitchen, bathrooms and tile flooring. There were a few items I would think should be addressed for a perfect experience. There is an antique fax machine next to bed in the master- I see no purpose. The furnishings were outdated and an eye sore. The balcony could use plants or barrier of some sort for more privacy. I understand these villas are open but when you are trying to relax and all you hear is the neighbors conversations or kids, it was annoying. All the bed comforters were in desperate need of dry cleaning. The kitchen should be organized for ease of finding necessary items-the plates were in different cabinets, pots/pans in different places-just not organized and easy to find. It would have been nice to have basic necessities such plastic wrap, tupperware or foil but all in all it did have what it said it would have. I am rating this villa as average because we rent houses all over the world and this one was average with spectacular views. I would rent from Hamilton Cove Villas again but would look for a different unit.

Gorgeous Villa with even better Views!

Left on 06/27/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Loved this Villa - furnished nicely and wonderful wrap-around patio with spectacular views. Only drawbacks were that there were quite a few steps down to it (more than we were told), and my dad had a rough time getting up and down them all. Having adults in 3rd bedroom is tough, as all need to share bathroom that has a door to the 2nd bedroom, so not much privacy & 4 people using a small bathroom. Might be a good idea to add another door in Master hallway between hall & Master bedroom, and seal little window to Master, so that bath could be shared too, if desired. Loved the golf cart - a 6 seater would have been nice for a 3 bedroom, but we worked it out. But all in all, a wonderful stay and we'd go back in a heartbeat!

My stay was with friends to celebrate my birthday. I've experienced Hamilton Cove on a few occasions (quite a few years back), I forgot just how beautiful the Gated Community is!!! We had a wonderful, relaxing, jazz-filled weekend - none of us wanted to leave. It was like our home away from home while staying at 17-85 in Hamilton Cove!!!

I will be going online today to reserve for next year!!!

      Thank you so much!!!

This was our second summer of renting a villa in Hamilton Cove. Last year our villa was very nice, but too small -- this year we had lots of room (5 adults + toddler) and a much larger balcony. Very steep road, but our unit was only a few steps down from the road and we had a beautiful view. Not a fancy decor, but roomy and comfortable. We had a great time!!

Deferred maintainence with an incrediable view

Left on 08/02/2010 for a stay in July 2010

Overall, the unit was worn and tired. The beds need to be replaced. Our beds saged in the middle and all the pillows were lumpy. There was an old fax machine taking up room on a night stand in the master bedroom which didn't need to be there. Closets had a variety of things stored in them making it less than convienient to use for our suitecases. When we arrived the rugs in the master bedroom were quite dirty with large spill marks. A bucket of cigaret butts were outside on the deck and handprints were obvious on the walls. On our first shower it backed up. I did call and someone came out right away after I complained. The soil on the rugs was cleaned up. There were only three wine glasses in the cupboards and much of the silverware was missing. A number of the windows wouldn't open and the DVD player is not working. While it was nice to have the golf cart to use. As we were there for a wedding and wedding activities we found being out at Hamilton Cove was quite inconvienient. When we went to fill the golf cart up with gas before we left, what a drive! While it would have been nice to take a swim at the pool, it was to far away from our unit. When we finally found it, we couldn't find a parking space. The development is very nice and the grounds are lovely. Sound does travel in the building but generally we were able to enjoy sitting outside on the deck.

What we did like was the fact that we could use our wireless computers. We also enjoyed the beautiful views, from the deck.

Loved the location, the balcony was outstanding.
The condo was nice, but not as nice as it could be.
It lacked some of the amenities you would expect for the cost. It was OK but not great. The staff was very helpful, with their knowledge and service. We will go back again. I would recommend the condo to all, the views and surrounding make it all somewhat worth the cost.

home was in a great location with nice view but the dishwasher was hard to operate and very old and the master bathroom had an exposed hole where the vent shoud go with exposed wires.
I feel for the price we payed, the condo should be in pristine condition. Would not rent the unit again unless it was updated...

Also, the drinking glasses were not the best, they had a cloudy film on them...

      Expected better..

A lot of possitives about this unit

Left on 09/02/2009 for a stay in August 2009

Unit 17-85 has a lot of room and is very comfortable. The layout is very nice
and there are nice amenities as well.

The only complaints I would have is that:

      1. The dishwasher didn't work.
      2. There should be an upgrade on dishes, glasses, etc.
      3. The dresser in the master suite had a drawer that didn't work.

Overall, this unit is one of the nicer ones in which we have stayed and we have
been coming to Hamilton Cove for 9 years now.

We would again stay in this unit.

Paradise Tainted by Logistics and Condition

Left on 08/26/2009 for a stay in August 2009

I always enjoy Hamilton Cove. This year, it was a bit tougher. We were part of a 4 family group. Some arrived Thursday, others Friday so we had a place to go once we arrived Friday about 11:00am. While we were pleased to be able to get into our room by 12:30, others got access at the same time but did not have to make the trip into town for keys. Their keys were onsite, some in the unit. That was a bit time consuming and apparently unnecessary since another rental company doesn't require the town stop. Remember, the entire bill is paid in advance so it can't be a financial concern.

Departure day was also challenging because of this requirement as was the 10:00 am checkout. Again, this is by comparison to others in our group who had an 11:00 am target and left keys on site. I will say the cab driver was helpful when he explained he would deliver the keys for us.

If the management company can't coordinate key transfers on site, I understand but it may push me towards the other company next time. Also, while understand the need to clean and turn a room for the incoming guests, is it really the case that you need to block 5 hours - from 10:00 am until 3:00pm? I know we got in early and one certainly appreciates that but maybe they are buying too much slush time with the 5 hours. Why not make it noon and 3:00 or 11:00 and 2:00?

As for the unit, lovely setting and view, walls are paper thin but nothing you can do about that. It was disturbing, though, to see the large stain in the master bedroom carpet, dirty closets, tired furniture and generally sub-par condition of kitchen cooking equipment. Despite the quoted rate, by the time one is out the door with cleaning and tax charges, this unit was in excess of $650/night and I know from the other units I saw that its condition was not comparable to others charging less.

Hamilton Cove is still a great vacation, but watch out for the logistical issues coming and going.

Always a great stay. [22nd year] Good unit with good views.

[This time for the first time]:

The linens on my bed [master] were not clean. Plus, dirty towels in the

But, the place and the professionalism of the rental agents is always
      outstanding.

      One thing needed:

      Fire the chambermaid!

This is the tenth year we have vacationed in Catalina and by far this was the best place to stay for us. The view is incredible, the unit has everything a family could need, especially the golf cart and washer dryer inside the unit (which makes it easy to pack light). It is an end unit facing the water so the place is very sunny and cheerful all day. It is located farther into the complex so the roadside noise is not invasive nor is the clubhouse noise. We are definitely going to rent this property again.

Well, that was actually the third time I had been to the island, but the first time I stayed and did not go home on the last boat back to San Pedro. The villa was wonderful and was equipped with all that we needed. Very cozy and warm atmosphere. We really wish we had booked it for longer, and were going to try and stay longer. Due to prior arrangements~ Had to leave the island as scheduled and went forward with our travels.......Currently awaiting family members to give me an answer on whether or not they are comming back with us next year!! Terrific View, but...

Left on 05/08/2009 for a stay in April 2009

There is a chimney from the unit below that obscures the best part of an otherwise terrific view. That fact was cleverly concealed by the photos of the unit. Also, since travel between the unit and Avalon is made primarily by golf cart, we anticipated a cart that would accommodate our group(ie, 6 people). The 4 person cart led to some logistical problems.

Otherwise, the unit met all of our needs. The view is beautiful and the unit was well furnished and clean. I would recommended it, notwithstanding the aforementioned.

We have stayed at Hamilton Cove several times, the last two renting with Catalina Island Vacation Rentals. They are a great rental firm to do business with and really went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We were able to check in early on our first day and check out late on the last day (Easter Sunday). Everything in the unit worked correctly, the kitchen was well-equipped, and we found it to be very comfortable with a great view. It was especially nice to have a DVD player for the kids for after-dinner movies.

We came to the island with 2 other couples. We walked into our condo which immediately felt like home. The outside patio had breathtaking views of the ocean and cove. We were all very comfortable. The master bed/bath was very spacious. We enjoyed the pool and Jacuzzi in the evening. (only a short golf cart ride there)
We had a great time. The only con I can think of is that you can't take other golf carts into the property so you have to make double trips anywhere you go if you have more than 4 people.
But I would definitely recommend. And I can't wait to come back in the summer!
