Casa Cova Blanca is an ecological escape that is nestled into an agricultural terrace. It’s an underground house, only this one is bright, spacious and extremely stylish, with a unique arch structure and an allusion to all things circular and curvaceous.

Three large arches form the entrance to the house, blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment and creating three focal points from which to view the surrounding vista. The tall ceilings curve gently overhead and the house is painted white in order to let the stunning structure of the building do all the talking; it really is a feature within its self. In the living room you... will find modern sofas, alcoves which are lined with book shelves and a wood burning stove. Flashes of deep turquoise are reminiscent of a clear evening’s sky. The bedrooms (reached through more arches, of course) are rooms for total relaxation in calming neutrals, with minimal distractions. An airy kitchen-diner provides a stylish social area, and even the bathroom has its quirks; the sink is an upturned washer drum.

No doubt you will savour sitting outside underneath one of the 150 ancient twisting olive trees, perhaps enjoying a drink, eating al fresco or just looking out over the amazing scene that greets you. The house enjoys a slightly elevated position due to the terraced land it is situated on, so you are able to look out over the olive groves and onto the Els Ports mountain range and Natural Park. Watch the dazzling sun set as the smell of food wafts through the air, fresh from your in-built barbeque and relax in your newly found natural haven.

There is plenty to explore in the area surrounding Casa Cova Blanca; Follow the dirt track out the back of the house past the final farm and onto the Cardò Boix Mountain Range, where you can spot the local wild life and admire the impressive views. The nearest village is Tivenys, where you can get to know the “real” Catalunya, as you sit in one of the bars or restaurants surrounded by the locals. For some beach action the Costa Dorada and its golden beaches are not far away. If you prefer your swimming away from the beach crowds, then a dip in the limestone gorges of the beautiful Puerto de Beceite will suit you just fine.Read more

Additional Location Information

The property is set in 1.7 hectares of ancient olive grove. 4km from the small traditional river side village of Tivenys. Mountain walking, bird watching and hunting are all available just outside. For a day out, canoe along the river Ebre or take in the "marvellous caves" in Benifallet a 20 minute drive. The rugged uncrowded coast is only a 35 minute drive. The Catalans have a very proud cooking tradition and you can sample it in the medieval town of Tortosa just 12 km away. Take a fishing trip to catch the famous catfish that swim here. Wine tasting in the higher Ebro valley is a must for aficionados.
You will need to hire a car for a visit to this property but a 4x4 is not necessary.
