The farm/rural tourism is located at 900 m a.s.l. SP 59/III (37° 46’ 41,61” N, 15° 07’ 31,66” E) between Fornazzo and Linguaglossa, on the East side of Etna between Catania and Taormina, approximately 20 minutes from the coast, inserted in the Etna sky-lift area and hiking paths for trekking around the Etna and Nebrodi.
The old setting was originally used for drying the hazelnuts produced in the area. It has been recently restored and it provide four double rooms with private bathrooms and two mini-flats with bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom with a total capacity of 15 beds. I could spend only three days in Orto dei semplici. This is my only regret (a part from the tricky way to get it). The location is deeply surrounded by blossoming Mediterranean vegetation. The accommodation is well organized and not expensive. I had really good sleeps and the temperature was fresh, notwithstanding 36°C down at sea level! The owners are really friendly and one feels himself at home. Thanks. I hope to have the possibility to spend some other days there, in the future.

L'orto dei semplici is simply the most charmy and romantic place where to spend your holidays in Sicily. Besides the strategic position from where you can take off to different locations along the eastern side of the island you can spend absolutely beautiful nights around the camp fire, drinking good vines, tasting good goat cheeses and playing guitar with nice people in a cozy familiar atmosphere. The local crowed makes you feeling at home like when you go visiting your friends or cousins off coast.

un excellent choix pour passer de superbes vacances ! en effet, cette grande maison est située sur l'Etna donc les nuits sont fraîches ce qui est des plus agréables pour dormir ! Endroit tranquille en bordure d'une route ( peu de circulation) avec un très grand domaine agricole ! Nous avons réservé le petit appartement d'un grand standing et super bien équipé. Il suffit de faire 20min .en voiture afin d'être à la mer ,,, bref je vais y revenir dans tout les cas.

If you like things done in the natural way this is the place for you. Everything at L'Orto Dei Semplici is home grown, handmade and authentic while providing modern conveniences and comfort. The typical Sicilian farm house has been redone but has not lost its charm. While there are many places that offer farm stays this one stands out for its simple but picked this morning food. The owners are very welcoming and are happy to show you where the food is grown and explain how it is prepared. If you want to find the authentic Sicily this is the place! I love this place I'll be back!!!
