The perfect villa for a perfect family vacation.

Left on 03/28/2013 for a stay in March 2013

When reviewing the villa website; please believe it and so much more!

View from the pool deck is transfixing: several days with full-sky rainbows.

Villa is well designed to provide large separate areas for individual privacy and full-family partying. Each bedroom has indoor and outdoor showers and private decks with spectacular Caribbean views.

Island Stones is set in beautiful private gardens with flowers indoors and out. This serene setting is completely private: no houses or people seen.

Website only hints at the fun and beauty of the infinity pool and spacious deck. The freshwater pool is crystal clear with an unusually attractive design, and very well maintained. You and your kids will love it non-stop.

All the amenities are top-drawer. We relished the high-performance outdoor grill strategically at the large outdoor wet-bar. A/C throughout the villa, however we much referred the cool breezes and sounds of outdoor wilderness. Appliances are top-of-the-line, perfect for our large family: clothes washer/dryer, dishwasher, side-by-side freezer/refrigerator. WiFi operated well.

Ample supply of excellent snorkeling gear and great canvas beach chairs were available.

The property management company is very friendly and attentive to your every need.

      Cautions:
      1. Jeep or SUV required. The villa is off Route 206; many portions are narrow and bumpy. Drive 1 mile north to reach some of the best beaches on the island, but 10 mph.
      2. Flow from the showers will be depleted when all of your kids simultaneously use. Schedule.
      3. Mosquitos visited around sunrise and sunset; controlled by insecticide spray.
      4. Shop in Cruz Bay. Favorite food market: Starfish (free parking). However, during the spring-break, Cruz Bay was too congested for us. Yet were delighted by excellent cuisine offered in small beachside restaurants around Coral Bay (book in advance).
      5. Reserve the best multi-bedroom villa well in advance; you will not be disappointed.

Once again we have had the chance of staying in St John's best location. My family has stayed at Island Stones 5 times and its getting better every time. John the owner bent over backwards again to make sure we were comfortable and the house was prepared with the utmost attention to details. We brought our parents this year and needless to say the home accommodated everyone's need for space and privacy. We are back in the snowy Northeast and already planning next year as my new screen saver is the fabulous view from the pool/patio area. Thanks again John & Vicky for your warm hospitality and the use of your gorgeous home. Sincerely, Dan

      A week in paradise

Left on 02/07/2013 for a stay in January 2013

My husband & I just spent a wonderful week in st John at Island Stones Villa. Island stones is amazing and I would love to go back. The villa is perfect for families or a group of friends! The decor made you feel like you were in a tropical oasis. I loved that all of the bathrooms also offered an outside shower option. I enjoyed the weight room & actually exercised a few days during our stay. It was so nice to come inside to air conditioning in all of the rooms. The view from the villa is breathtaking!! I spent most of my time lounging at the amazing pool and listening to music from the bar area. We also enjoyed the privacy. That was our 5th visit to St. John and Island Stones has to be one of the nicest villas on the island, we would love to stay there again!!

      Wow - what a view!

Left on 01/03/2013 for a stay in December 2012

We had 5 couples stay here and everyone was thoroughly impressed! First off the view from the pool deck and top level of the villa are beyond description - what an incredible way to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or happy hour drink at the outdoor bar! You can't see any homes from this vantage - just the trees in the National Park and beautiful Caribbean sea! The villa is well (and tastefully) appointed yet comfortable. The layout worked well for gathering as a group or breaking off into separate quarters. We really loved this place and hope to return!

Incredible time, amzaing views at Island Stones!

Left on 06/18/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Our group of 12 adults visited Island Stones in June 2012. We knew that the views from vililas in the Catherineberg area are amazing. The views on Island Stones website do not lie...they are breathtaking! The house itself is very spread out and provided lots of privacty/solitude if we wanted to get away from the large group. I would almost compare it to being at a resort, with the kitchen/den area being the gathering point. Everything in the villa was well-maintained and clean. They even came and cleaned the villa again, mid-week, when we were away. The kitchen was well-stocked and we cooked several nights. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone, from groups of 2 to 12. John, the owner, was extremely informative and easy to work with. We are already planning our next trip to Island Stones!

A Great Week at Island Stones Villa

Left on 06/12/2012 for a stay in May 2012

The villa was great and certainly lived up to the very high expectations created by the photos on the website. Catherineberg is my favorite area on St John and I think we've rented most of the available properties there over the last 17 or so years. However, your pool is hands down the best we've come across: the views, the layout with the built in bar stools and tables, the infinity design, the mural - can't think how you could build a better pool. And the house is magnificent - took a while for the oohs and ahhs to settle down. Our group of 5 couples thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor areas (to the extent that the game room was hardly used). In short, a wonderful time was had by all!

Response from John and Vicky Daly - 06/14/2012

      John and Vicky Daly

      Owner

Vicky and I are happy to know the ten of you had such a good time. The pool is an interesting story. I won't go into full detail here but I can't help but share some of it. There was a lot of back and forth with the drawing and coral and dolphins and sea turtles and fish before we liked it. It was all drawn out on a very long mat with all the individual glass tiles numbered. The entire piece was about 36 feet long and 5 1/2 feet tall plus another 8 foot long area. Sections of mat with tiny glass tiles glued to it were cut into 4' sections. They required 3 people to hold up and place into position and needless to say it was a long and tedious process. The stone walls in the pool were done by fabulous stone masons that I have known for many years. Joseph and Joseph are from down island and specialize in work that is is as close to the old sugar ruins of Catherineberg as I have seen anywhere. Everything from coral to conch shells, antique hand made brick, and blue bitch stone was used. Aside from all that though, my next two favorite parts is having a bottle of red wine on the cocktail table in the pool (while someone is grilling brats on the nearby Alfresco Grill) and looking out over the infinity edge to Cinnamon Bay and Jost Van Dyke. Vicky would say her favorite is laying on the 6" deep sun shelf of smooth dark warm river pebbles and getting the exposed half sun tanned. Island Stones has an interesting layout and lots of outdoor spaces that I think you all enjoyed. It is just so spread out and interesting that while there are several places to congregate there are also plenty of private areas so larger groups do not feel crowded. Thanks for coming Ed and hope to see you back some time. John and Vicky

      Ok...

Left on 05/31/2012 for a stay in May 2012

There were 10 of us and we never felt crowded. The outside pool and bar area is where we mostly hung out when we were at the house. We did however run into several problems one of which were the bees...the bedroom in the main house was swarmed with bees. I called and someone came to look but nobody did anything until the next day and all they did was stick a stick into the stone on the wall to keep them from going into the bedroom. We also had a problem with the outside grill...it popped and blew flames out when someone tried to light it and the guy had all the hair on his arms burned off, the mainteance guy said they had problems with the ignigtor...scared all of us to death! The basement game room smells strongly of mold so much so that we could not stand to be in there. The vegatation is so overgrown you can't see the water...much landscaping is needed. We believe in its day the house was a very nice place but has been left unattended for a while now and needs a lot of attention. Also with just 1 pot and 1 pan...it was very difficult cooking breakfast for 10 people. My sisters bathroom shower was outside...she had to shower everyday with her bathing suit on and her eyes open.. I guess for the thousands of dollars we spent we really expected a very pristine place and not a worn out vacation rental.

St. John is a wonderful place to vacation!

Left on 12/03/2011 for a stay in November 2011

Island Stones was a beautiful villa and provided good accommodations for the large party we had. The views were spectacular, pool deck was awesome and you felt like you were tucked away on your own island.

The only downside is that the plumbing, specifically hot water in the kitchen and several of the outdoor showers was not working properly and we had to call multiple times throughout the week to have it addressed. We ended up just living with the inconvenience but still had a great time.

My husband & I were married right on the pooldeck last year. We wouldn't have change a single thing, it was the most amazing experience of our lives! Family & friends were all able to stay comfortably and within their own private area of the house. We even had a 8 month old baby with us that was in heaven in the sunbathing beach portion of the infinity edge pool. We would recommend it to anyone! Can't wait to go back! Heaven on Earth!

      Amazing Location With Incredible Views

Left on 03/15/2011 for a stay in March 2011

We have stayed extensively on St. John and our stay at Island Stones is hard to put into words. This is an amazing property from top to bottom. The kitchen is very well suited with both indoor and outdoor seating. The pool area and outdoor bar is one of the best on St. John with outstanding views of St. John and the Bvis. All six bedrooms are appointed with high quality furnishings with incredible views. Location wise the villa is in one of our favorite areas, it is a relatively quick 4x4 road down to the north shore beaches and close to centerline road with easy access to both Coral Bay and Cruz Bay. We look forward to our next stay at Island Stones.
