Bijou de Soleil is a charming 400 yr old holiday home in the Herault located in the heart of the village of Caux. It is nestled amongst the sun-drenched vineyards and the surrounding beautiful countryside of the Languedoc – in the South of France. The real Mediterranean region! The Languedoc has on average, more than 300 sunny days per year.

Bijou de Soleil is a 3 level village house including a basement. It boasts character with its stone exterior, Provence blue shutters and wood door.

It has been recently renovated. It has an updated American kitchen, tile floor and stairwell, open beams, Master King Bed and 2nd bedroom Queen... Bed with wood floors, adjoining (Jack & Jill) bathroom with new shower and additional toilette facilities in the basement plus a washer and dryer.

UK TV is a bonus. Sleeps 4 comfortably, but will accommodate 6 with a sofa sleeper in living room if needed. Comes fully furnished for your holiday! Nestled in the vineyards of the sunny Languedoc, this charming 400 year, stone exterior holiday home is the perfect base for your holiday destination and travel in the south of France. Only 7 km from the bustling town of Pezenas and 30 min from the Mediterranean beaches!
Close to cathar castles and other tourist sites. A perfect location for leisure time or day trips. Situated in the typical French village of Caux. The medieval village of Caux is perched on a hilltop and built in a 10th Century circular street pattern “la circulade” around the church for defense. Caux is quiet but quaint, yet offers all the village amenities. Today, this pretty village is thriving with commercial life. Within easy walking distance from the house there are 2 boulangeries, (for a freshly baked baguette or pastry), la boucherie, patisserie, greengrocer, pharmacie/chemist, pizzeria and Post Office. There is a weekly Friday morning street market with all the local fresh produce. All just steps from the front door!

The area offers many activities for the outdoor adventurist such as fishing, camping, hiking and kayaking, bicycling, walking or canoeing the river Herault. Many tourist sights are an easy drive making day trips fun and exciting. Shopping is plentiful nearby. The sunny Languedoc offers much to see and do.

From Caux, it is an easy 20 minute drive to Beziers, 40 minutes to charming Montpellier, approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to Carcassonne, and 30 minutes to the sandy Mediterranean beaches of Cote d’Azur, resorts of Cap d’Agde and Sete, and about 3 hours to Nice and Barcelona. The great location makes this area a perfect base for exploring the local region, or other areas of France and Europe.

Additional notes from owner

1. A deposit of 25% of the booking total (rental + security deposit) is required. This deposit will be refunded if cancelled more than 15 days before arrival.
2. Security Deposit (€100): 25% security deposit will be taken as part of your booking with the balance being paid when the final balance is settled 42 days prior to arrival. The full security deposit will be returned to you after departure less the cost of any damages.
3. Full booking balance must be paid 42 days before arrival. Payments by paypal, and the following cards:
Visa Debit / Delta, Visa Credit, Mastercard, American Express – no charge.
4. Payment of balance is due no less than 6 weeks (42 days) prior to arrival unless special arrangements are made in advance.

  We loved: the charming rustic feel (exposed beams and stonework, tapestries, rugs and antique furniture), the comfy bed, the well-stocked kitchen cupboards (including wine!), the quiet location, the ease of getting around.
  
  We lacked: a garden, some more information for tourists, phone/internet. And Caux itself is a bit dead at night. You definitely need a car.
  
  We'd reccommend in the area: the incredible underground 'grotte des demoiselles', unlimited vine-tasting the herault, languedoc-roussillon and chateauneuf de pape, the towns of Carcasonne, Avignon and arles, abundant swimming in lakes and rivers (especially under the Pont du Diable in Olargues, countryside picnics, the local markets at Sete and Narbonne
