Alta Vista is located on a small island, Caye Caulker, located inside the Great Barrier Reef, approx 30 miles northeast of Belize City. Transport from Philip Goldson International is achieved thru domestic air providers or shuttle service and water taxi. On the caye, golf cart taxi service and rental bicycle are the best methods of transportation. Activities available on the caye include world class diving, snorkelling, fishing and manatee tours. Mainland activities can also be arranged thru the management company. Local restaurants are varied with seafood being the prime attraction.

Alta Vista was in a perfect location - easy access to everything plus off the "beaten track" so nice and private. Always felt safe and welcome! Wonderful accomodations and gorgeous rooftop views with morning coffee. Fully equipped kitchen and frig to keep beverages cold. Totally recommend it and hope to go back with our adult children and explore more sights. Caye Caulker was so easy and comfortable to get around and explore.

My husband & I stayed at alta Vista twice in 2012 (February & November) for two weeks each time. I am thrilled to report that we are about to return for our third visit this Saturday! Alta Vista is a simple, but beautiful home full of gleaming Belezian wood. There is a large and well-equipped kitchen where we typically make breakfast/coffee, and even the odd dinner. Two full bathrooms (showers only, no tubs), a living room, two "bedrooms" divided by a 1/2 wall, and three decks give us plenty of room to spread out over a few weeks.
When on the island, the owners, John & Annette stay on the ground floor and guests have the second & third floors (and the roof deck). The home is very near to the Caye Caulker airport and just far enough from "town" to be very quiet. We rent bikes from Victor while we're there so it takes only a moment to get anywhere, but even on foot you're not more than a 10-minute walk from the action.
Kim at Caye Caulker Rentals is wonderful and his concern for the safety and comfort of his guests is obvious. He anticipates our every need and we appreciate the detailed information he gives us about being on the island. We have also had Kim arrange our flights between Belize City & CC, as well as several tours on the mainland, and everything always goes off without a hitch.
We can't say enough wonderful things about alta Vista and this little island that has captured our hearts. But hey, don't take our word for it - come and judge for yourself! -

First of all, the owners John and annette are absolute gems. We stayed for a week over Christmas and had a great time. The house is perfectly located for easy access to all the activities caye caulker has to offer, yet tucked away for some great privacy. We highly recommend and cannot wait to come back!

Our family vacation on Caye Caulker was fantastic! We thought alta Vista was the perfect environment for us. We liked annette's beautiful yard with much of the native plants still intact. The surroundings offer shade, beautiful plants, and pleasing fragrances from her flowers. We liked that aV was tucked back away from the noise. Oliver liked the hammock and all the lizards and geckos.
Annette and John were wonderful hosts. We appreciated how kind they were to the kids; and helpful, by loaning us an alarm clock - which we definitely didn't think we'd need. So gracious, especially on the day we left, it was raining and we appreciated the lift in the golf cart to Glenda's for breakfast - thank you! We hope you enjoyed the barracuda and snapper dinner. -

My husband and I stayed at alta Vista Jan. 2011. We loved being out of the way yet a bike ride away! We had a two week stay and just escaped from the busy days of life. We never watched TV or got on the internet, we relaxed, cooked, read books and enjoyed the sunrises and sunsets. We biked everywhere. We went to the split to fish, snorkel, swim and Happy Hour. There is no schedule to keep, we enjoy doing things at our own pace. That is exactly what we did. We can't wait to come back and shut down!!!

Kim had J waiting for us at the airport ! and Kim was on the pier waiting for us, in the dark and made sure we had our transportation and got the the house with no problem.
The house was Clean and ready for use. The house was great with the exception of the partial wall in the bedroom.
The location of the house was just far enough for quite time but close enough to walk anywere we wanted.
Best part of the trip was the locals, took a few days to finally go slow.
The only thing I disliked the trash everywhere and not knowing who to pay for what (had to find tour guides with locals instead of CC rentals) however even that was not a issue!. I'll be back in 2 years.

This is a very well kept private home in the interior of the island. There were two large bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. We really enjoyed the view from the roof top deck. It is a 10-15 minute walk from the main part of the island which is why we rented bikes (highly recommended). There were only two of us so privacy wasn't an issue, but larger parties might find the house a bit cramped. If you come by air it's a 5 minute walk with luggage - unbelievable!

Kathy and I have stayed at alta Vista for the past two trips to Caye Caulker (CUK) and have reservations for next year again-this time, staying twice as long.
The house is located in a serene part of the island with quiet, friendly neighbors and ocean views both east and west from the roof deck. The location is a 5-minute bike ride (the preferred method of transportation) from the village. Accommodations are perfect for a couple or family of 3-4 with two bedrooms and 2 baths. There is a deck on every level so no matter what the time of day, you can have either sun or shade.
Kim and Ruby at Caye Caulker Rentals have been there to see to our needs from welcome and friendly arrival greeting to finding music instruments or bicycles-whatever we needed. John and annette, the owners, are our favorite people on the island and have made us feel like family.
Caye Caulker is a simple and very special place to visit where you will want to integrate with the locals and join in the Island Vibe. As they say on Cay Caulker, "Go Slow"
