My review (this isn't a term paper)

Left on 05/16/2013 for a stay in April 2013

We were four men on a sporting trip and this house was perfect. The house was very well maintained and everything worked. The kitchen is more than adequate and well-stocked with cutlery, dishes, ect...The house location is key--close enough to the 'main drag' for walking or biking convenience to anywhere on the island, yet far enough away for privacy and a 'neighborhood' feel. The internet worked well and television, to the extent we ever turned it on, was more than acceptable. The check in process was smooth and uneventful, and the staff was friendly. There is not a negative that comes to mind about this property. The house is large and there is plenty of space for a group to spread out.

      Great time

Left on 03/16/2013 for a stay in February 2013

The home was great, would stay there again. Quiet area except for the rooster. Close enough to town to walk. Restaurants right down the street.

      Great house for a family

Left on 01/22/2013 for a stay in January 2013

We liked the house and it met our needs. It was a bit out of the way but that worked for us as much as against us. We were only there for 5 nights - would have been nice if there were small quantities of salt, pepper, cooking oil and shampoo/soap. Kim the property manager was helpful and available.

      The perfect low-key vacation!

Left on 10/22/2012 for a stay in August 2012

I was looking for a vacation that was "away from it all", and I found it on Caye Caulker at Villa almendra! Tucked away on a side street in a residential neighborhood, I wanted a rental that was easy and affordable, away from the crowds, but close to the places I wanted to go. Granted, the island is very small, so you're never very far from the action.

From beginning to end, Kim at Caye Caulker Rentals made me feel welcome and looked after. The house itself was clean and well-maintained, and had very reliable wifi and cable TV. I made good use of the kitchen while I was there, which had lovely new appliances.

I opted for a rental because I wanted to be away from people, and that was great! But I hadn't factored in how nice the people on the island are, which was a nice perk. It seemed that everyone I met asked me when I would be coming back to Caye Caulker, and I told them honestly that I couldn't wait to plan my next trip. I heard from another couple who had started their stay on Caye Caulker in one of the cheaper boarding houses, and they quickly upgraded to a hotel room; save yourself the hassle and go with a nice rental to start with!

For those who are looking for the height of luxury--this rental (and really, this island) is not for you. The house has ceiling fans and plenty of ventilation, but it doesn't have air conditioners. Because you are on an island, you need to conserve water (short showers!) and electricity (turn off the lights!) And there is plenty of local wildlife to respect--I had a small lizard on my porch many days, to which I enjoyed saying hello.
