Description from the manager
Carolyn's Other House is the second of two beachfront cabanas built on the shore of Caye Caulker by the owners, Mark & Carolyn. Similar in construction to the original but a bit bigger, a larger deck and set back on the lot to enhance privacy, Carolyn's Other House is a delightful Caribbean Cottage. The view from the deck is outstanding and catches the trade winds coming in across the reef. Comfy, cozy and personal, this little getaway is perfect for couples or small families with one child.
Both of these cottages enjoy an marvelous view of the reef, from both the pier out front and from their own decks, where one can relax in a tropic...Read more

Washington DCBeautiful Cabana, great location
Left on 03/16/2013 for a stay in February 2013
The Cabana is thoughtfully laid out, beautiful hard wood floors and nicely furnished and very clean. Kim and everyone at Caye Caulker Rentals do a great job caring for all properties they manage. They take suggestions seriously as several suggestions in the guest book had been actualized by the time of our stay.) We were warmly welcomed by Victor who gave us a lift in his golf cart to the house and made sure we were set up well. We loved the beach views and the constant breeze.
If you are someone that wants complete silence on your beach vacation, do know that you will hear noise from houses around you. The house is on the same property as Carolyn's House and you might hear them. Our neighbors while we were there were fine but they had other neighbors and friends in for dinner several nights from 7-9PM and while they were not raucous you could hear them laughing. Also next door is a larger hotel whose outside doors face the property. One night there was a large high school youth group that stayed the night and you know how those high school kids do not know how to shut doors quietly. So again, just a consideration for those who want absolute quiet. Caye Caulker does have a quiet policy from 11PM on and there wasn't any noise that late. Other than that, we loved our time there. As far as eating, we always want to support local endeavors and look for good places to eat away from the north end of the island. To that end - Glenda's for Breakfast (best orange juice and wonderful cinnamon rolls, Syd's and the Little Kitchen for any other time. Great food! -

This was a great place to stay. We sat on the deck on watched the sun come up every day. We did not have to have portable water as the water was drinkable. In Caye Caulker one of our favorite places to get food was the Bakery...

Left on 02/17/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We first came to Caye Caulker eight years ago and loved out time there. Last time we stayed at Treetops (which we would highly recommend but they were booked already this time) On this trip our hearts were set on renting Coconut Grove from Caye Caulker Rentals but this was also booked so we settled for renting Carolyn’s Other House (also from Caye Caulker Rentals.) But, we didn’t have to “settle” at all. The Cabana is thoughtfully laid out, beautiful hard wood floors and nicely furnished and very clean. Everything from the management, Kim, and his fine crew of taxi drivers and bike renters to his quiet, quick, and lovely cleaning staff) were perfect. They made me never want to leave. The area felt safe enough, and the dock access was quick and okay to swim from--shallow but servicable. I would highly recommend renting a bike or two for quick trips down to the cut, or around town. The hospitality and humor was worth renting again! I'm young 23 and I loved the island and the stay. Perfect pre-grad-school trip. I would also recommend swimming and snorkeling as much as possible!

Seattle, WABelize vacation with friends
Left on 11/06/2012 for a stay in October 2012
Two friends and I rented Carolyn's Other House during a week vacation in October. The house was beautiful! Lots of gorgeous hardwood, and the view was amazing. You are literally right on the water. Being from Seattle and not use to humidity, I do wish we had an air conditioner for the first few days when the humidity was relatively high (in my mind). That may be my only 'complaint' about the rental. We used the kitchen a few nights to make dinner, and brought breakfast foods with us. The house is just far enough from downtown for complete peace but close enough to walk everywhere(maybe a 5-10 minute walk to where the restaurants and shops start).
Kim was great, not only once we got there, but also in answering questions we had prior arriving. Any issues we had (which were few and minor) he addressed immediately. He arranged for us to be picked up at the airport and brought to the water taxi, was able to recommend the best people for snorkling tours, and recommeded some good restaurants.
The Caye was beautiful and laid back. We went at the tail end of the off season but even with some places closed for the season, we still had a great time with lots of good food. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Great vacation, definitely afforable (we each paid $218 to rent the housefor a week). I highly recommend this place.
Make sure you bring lots of sunscreen and deet though! Sand flies are merciless and the sun is more intense then you would imagine. -

Richmond, VASo great we're going back!

We had an extraordinary experience in Caye Caulker starting with Caye Caulker Rentals. Kim and Ruby made sure that every detail, from water taxi rentals, bike rentals, and snorkeling trips, was taken care of for us first timers. The cottage was brand new and, except for having no internet or TV, was perfect for us. The view was beautiful, it is situated close to town but not in the center so it was very private. When we decided to go back it went without saying that we contacted Caye Caulker Rentals to handle our travel arrangements again. I know Caye Caulker is the perfect place to get away from "it all" but we do like staying connected to our family through email and like to watch TV occasionally so we opted for a different cottage that includes those ammenities. But for those who want to totally disconnect, Carolyn's cottages are perfect!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in Caye Caulker at Carolyn's House. We were met at the airport in Belize City and driven to the water taxi. When we arrived at Caye Caulker, we were picked up and taken to our house after checking in. The house was comfortable, but not appropriate for elderly or physically handicapped as the steps to the house are rather steep. Our house was facing the water and there was a breeze all the time. We had a floor fan which was all that we needed. We were close enough to restaurants and shops to walk. We had an unencumbered view of sunrises and 3 iguanas living in our yard. We named them all Wilson.

We stayed at Carolyn's Other House on Caye Caulker for 10 days in March, 2012.
I dealt with Kim at Caye Caulker Rental and he provided great service. His emails were replied to promptly and he found this beach front cottage for me at a great price. It turns out we paid about $90 us per night for our place.
Getting to Caye Caulker is easy. They have a van waiting at the airport and drove us to the jetty to board the water taxi. It was over 1 hour to get to the Caye from Belize City - a long haul after a long long trip in the air. Once on the caye, we took a gold cart to the rental agency and Kim signed us up and accompanied us to the cottage and explained all the workings. It was a nice touch.
The cottage is a large bachelor style apartment on the second floor with a large deck overlooking the Caribbean Sea, facing east. The sunrises each morning, while lying in bed, were spectacular. There was a large queen size bed, a user friendly kitchen and a nice sofa (living room area). Most of the time we were on the balcony, watching the people walk by on the beach. It was very relaxing.
There are no cars on Caye Caulker. Only golf carts and bikes. We rented bikes for the duration of our stay - they were invaluable. There are a couple of good grocery stores on the island, a short distance away. Eating out at night was great and cheap. Our favourite places to eat were the Little Kitchen (wow!)and an Italian restaurant off the main street near Wish Willys. I forget the name. There was a great fruit store on the main drag for juices (excellent with the rum).
We did some scuba with Scuba Sensations. Bert was a heck of a nice guy but he did not go out with us. Nice scuba but not near the best we have had.
i loved our stay at the beach house. The only two issues I had were no WiFi and the beach in front was never raked of the sea weed. These would have been two nice touches.
A nice quiet vacation, safe and with the friendly locals, it was a great place.
