Description from the owner
Welcome to "Cozy Cove Cottage" nestled just 10' from the waters edge in the Finger Lakes of New York. We hope you love what you see and will want to share in the peace that we have always found here. This is our third year of having guests visit, due to the insistence of friends and family that have stayed with us and fallen in love with its charm. My husband is a professional musician and we travel often, so they have all inspired us to share our 'little piece of heaven' with others while we are away. We purchased the cottage as a peaceful memory from when I was a child and my family had owned a cottage in this same cove. This was always kno...Read more

I couldn't have asked for better service. When I experienced a problem with my computer, Teri went out of her way to make sure the problem was rectified. Any questions I had were promptly answered.
The cottage was so cosy and everything I needed was there. It was a perfect location - so close to the water and I loved having breakfast each morning looking at the view. -

I do echo all the reviews that have been posted for Cozy Cove. We do not have the good fortune to live on the water, so renting a place on the water is a true vacation for us. Teri is a kind and conscientious hostess, who makes sure that the rental process goes smoothly. The cottage is quaint and rustic - the smells take me back to childhood cottages we rented. The new front deck is perfect for enjoying the nearby shoreline for its sounds and relaxation. A big tree that covers the deck saved us from the 90 degree temps. If you want sun, the dock provides the tanning platform. The view is spectacular, the water is clear and swimmable, breezes can come from the southeast, and stir up the waves to remind us that we are just guests in nature. It is very convenient being so close to Seneca Falls, for groceries, restaurants, etc., but remote enough to gain a sense of escape. You will thoroughly enjoy your stay in this gem on beautiful Cayuga Lake. Like the others, you may be booking your next stay just after you leave.

Had a wonderful stay at the cottage. Rowed across the lake, did yoga on the dock, drifted on a raft on the water, reading on the deck, a fire going in the fire pit every night. Visited Watkins Glen, lunch at Moosewood in Ithaca, a massage by Johanna. Ice cream from the creamery. Sleeping to the sound of lapping water. What could be better!

My husband and I were fortunate enough to discover Cozy Cove for a last-minute summer getaway. We feel very blessed to have had a chance to discover the peace and beauty of Lake Cayuga and the surrounding area. This property is lovingly managed and maintained by a delightful couple who are very willing to help in any way they can to make their guests' stay a good one. They are in the beginner's stage of renting full-time and seem eager to get suggestions as to how to improve the overall Cozy Cove experience. To those of us who are "professional" (lol) renters , this is great to see! The proximity of this home to the water is in itself, enough of a wow factor! You can literally step off the front deck and into the clean, clear waters of Lake Cayuga. This cabin is romantic, rustic, charming and quaint. I call it a cabin, as that is really what it truly is. It is reminiscent of the family cabins in which I spent most of my childhood weekends . It is basic and lovely all at the same time! The well thought -out ,incredibly ambient lighting is a special touch unique to Cozy Cove. We do feel it is important to fellow travelers to note that while it is far removed from the road and noise, and in fact in a very "cozy" location, it is not private and that was our greatest "surprise" and disappointment.. The neighbors to the left are not more than perhaps, 5 or 6 yards from the home ,and their dock is even closer. From every description we had to go on, we would have never expected this to be the case. To be truly relaxed and enjoy this fantastic location to the fullest, some sense of privacy would have been ideal. As regular users of this site, we want our reviews to be fair and helpful to both owners and travelers! We hope this review has been both! P. S. Our recommendation is to bring your own linens so that you will be sure to have flexibility in choosing your preferred sleeping arrangements, and to ensure you will have enough towels for your stay. Enjoy!!!

This is wonderful place to stay. Great location for Finger Lakes, you can get from the top of the lakes to the bottom in about 1 hour. If you want a couple of days to get away from it all and relax this is place to stay. I don't believe the pictures show how lovely this place is. The cottage is right on the waters edge and great for swimming or water sports. Terri the owner couldn't have been more helpful and the directions to the cottage where spot on. We were travelling to the cottage by motorcycle and it was easy to access the cottages even though it is down a lane.

My spouse and I stayed in this tranquil spot last year and are booking again this year. The cottage is in a very beautiful, wide area of the lake which provides gorgeous views. It location is also near all the Vineyards we like to visit on our breaks from this peaceful lake getaway.
The cottage itself is a wonderful little place. Its very near the shore and makes for fantastic views! With a clean, simple, airy and light interior, it feels like a movie set from time past...Just the perfect place to relax and reflect, and listen to the water hit the shore. Great memories and looking forward to more this year as well.
We had no difficulties settling in or packing up as the owners, Teri and Don, are very friendly and well organized about the rental. I would very much recommend this spot for a memorable vacation. -

This quintessential cottage was the perfect get-away for my husband and I. We are both professional artists, and we deeply appreciated the beauty and pristine waters of the lake, and the simple yet gracious accommodations of the cottage - full of romance! This cabin truly inspires a "whiff of euphoria" if you are looking for the charm of days gone by. Candle-lit dinners with friends (and the summer air) was intoxicating. I brought my sketch pad, and was never at a lack for imagery that warmed and inspired my soul. Our sincerest "thank you" to Teri and Don, we had everything we needed to be comfortable, and you made us feel like family. Susan and Aaron Brown

I'm a bit perplexed by the poor review on this site.
When we first walked into this cottage, I was immediately overtaken by the atmosphere. It was simple and clean, and it smelled like antique lavender. It was wonderful. The pictures on the site portray the cottage exactly as it is. We traveled there with our young children, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to unwind as a family.
Just the other day, I discovered the cleaning agent that Teri uses in the cottage. I brought it home, cleaned with it, and my husband and my oldest son immediately said, "What is that? That smells just like the cottage!" They were elated. What a unique way to be able to bring back memories of a fabulous time.
If you are looking for a cottage with all of the modern amenities, this is not a place for you. If you are looking for a cottage where you can escape the busy and demanding world, where you can park your car and walk down to the lake, this is your place. In just a 30 minute drive, we were able to find ourselves in the city or under the magnificent falls, but be advised, you will not want to leave this place. -

We were looking for rest and relaxation but got much more. When you turn off the main driveway into the woods-covered path to the cottage, you begin to realize what you're in store for - a serene, cozy cottage that, even though its just minutes from parks, wineries, and falls, feels like it's well off the beaten path. On top of that, the owners Don and Teri have clearly spent a lifetime charming up the place and extending the coziness beyond the woodsiness and into the house itself. From the little flourishes and ambient lighting to the wide open sun room with oh-so-comfortable rockers, you'll never want to leave. Thanks Don and Teri for letting us in on the secret.

My husband and I were looking for a place to disconnect from the world. After hours of searching, we found Don and Teri's cottage. It is truly a gem. From the moment we walked through the front door, we knew we had settled into the perfect place. We spent many hours on the front porch, listening to the waves lap onto the shore. This cottage has every amenity imaginable and necessary to make a pleasant stay away from home.If you are looking for a place to help you disconnect from the craziness of life, this is it. Grab a bottle of wine and pull up a chair lakeside...you'll soon discover a small picture of what Paradise was always intended to be.

We are in our mid-30's and were looking for a break where we would not need a "vacation from our vacation". I came across Don, Teri and the Cozy Cove Cottage and it seemed to be exactly what we were looking for in our trip. We arrived and I could not have been more right. 10 ft. from the Cayuga and everything the finger lakes offer. Don and Teri did a great job capturing rustic, easy going, lakeside living. I could not have asked for more...except maybe a few more days before getting back to the grind of the City. Thank you Don and Teri, for everything and sharing your little slice of heaven.

My husband and I had a romantic, rejuvenating time on this pristine lake in such a charming setting. This is the real deal: a quintessential cottage perfect for relaxation, swimming or sailing in the silky waters, or writing the next great novel! So many delightful memories, from dockside sunshine to candlelight and moonlit dinners. Our friends joined us for an evening and they were also captivated by the simple elegance and romance of this cozy cottage. We did take a day trip to explore the surrounding vineyards, which was lovely, but honestly, it was hard to leave our spot on the lake! Oh, and Don and Teri were great to rent from, no hassles, everything was just as they promised!

First of all, the location of this cottage is perfect as its on the wider part of Cayuga and has an amazing view! The cottage itself looks iconic, kind of thing you would imagine a "cottage" to be like. The interior was not over renovated to the point of looking sterile as many places we've stayed do, but had many quirky, charming aspects that made it feel very homey with a relaxing atmosphere.
I would definitely say this is one of the nicest spots we've stayed in, and I plan to go again next year.

When we arrived at Cozy Cove Cottage, I immediately felt at home. The cottage is outfitted in casual comfort, replete with water toys, board games, field guides (even binoculars!), as well as a well-equipped kitchen. Nothing lacking except for more time to take in the peaceful lakeside setting. I got the sense that I was staying at a friend's house. Thank you Don & Teri.

Virginia Beach, VAMixed Feelings
Left on 07/25/2011 for a stay in September 2009
I have mixed feelings about reviewing what I consider to be one of the best kept secrets and possibly the greatest vacation retreat in the Finger Lake region. It becomes obvious once you enter the door that the owner's are emotionally attached to the cottage as evidenced by it's charm and their attention to every detail to make you feel as comfortable and welcome as possible. The property sits approximately ¼ mile from the main road and it's completely secluded from everything except beautiful Lake Cayuga by trees and foliage. Every day, especially in the evening hours there were deer running all over the place. Oh yeah, if you have a tendency to sleep walk at night you may want to wear you swimming suit to bed because roughly 15 feet from the back door is the lake!!! Awesome!!! They have a newly built dock that I laid out on for an hour or so each night and marveled at all the stars I forgot ever existed. The kitchen reminds me of my grandmothers, small but efficient. It has everything you could possibly need to cook and serve a five course meal. If per chance you do forget something, there's a Walmart 30 minutes North of the cottage. The beds are very comfortable with the master bedroom having two windows that look out on the lake. I especially loved the enclosed porch surrounded by windows that actually open to let in the fresh air and allow you to hear the wind rustle through the trees and the water lap up on the banks of the shoreline. If you ever get bored with relaxing (right) there are world class wineries all around you, Ithaca (10 square miles surrounded by reality) is a short 20-25 minute drive with Cornell University and Ithaca College that keep the culture arts scene vibrant, all the beautiful gorges to hike through, Watkins Glen, Corning and their world famous glass factory, etc., etc., etc.
Now do you understand my reluctance to let the "cat out of the bag?" This is a wonderful vacation rental no matter what time of the year you go. -

We were met upon arrival by Teri, one of the owners. She knows the area well, is friendly, interesting, and a wonderful welcome to start our vacation on the lake. She and her husband Don seemed happy to answer questions and accomodate requests during our stay.
I immediately felt 'at home' in the sweet cottage. It's got an eclectic style, very personal, reflecting Don and Teri's obvious love for the place. And that's contagious- we fell in love with it too.
The cottage sits right on the water with a deck for lounging, a long dock to walk out 'on' the lake, a rowboat, a canoe, and tubes and rafts for floating. Don and Teri also provided 2 bikes for our use at a very reasonable additional cost. The kitchen is well stocked, there's a dining alcove with a 'send through' to the kitchen for convenience, a screened porch lakeside, and upstairs there's 2 comfortable little bedrooms and a large master bedroom looking towards the lake.
I loved the sunrises on the lake, the boating, the biking, the at-home feel of the place, and the famous Cayuga Creamery (homemade ice cream) and wineries down the road. The only thing I didn't like was the short stay- we definitely would have liked to stay longer.
I'm thrilled to have found a vacation lake house that suits me this well in a beautiful spot with lots to do in the surrounding area. -

What a splendid and relaxing weekend we had at the Cozy Cove Cottage. From the moment we turned off highway 89 and found the secluded, wooded driveway to the cottage, we knew we were in for a relaxing retreat. So many touches combine to make you feel like you're staying with good friends rather than a rented house: magical mood lighting, oh-so-comfortable rockers, fully equipped kitchen and living spaces, momentos and decor you can tell were discovered and added to the cottage over decades. Then there's the natural elements: the lake that starts mere steps off the back deck, the duck family that swims up and visits, the woodsy feel of the cottage's surroundings, the moonlight shimmering, the sunrise glowing, and, well, you get the picture...tis awesome. And finally, the owners were extremely welcoming - making us feel like friends throughout the whole booking, checkin, and checkout process. In addition to having a great weekend retreat, my wife, daughter, and I felt like we were let in on a truly special secret. We'll definitely be back.

Teri and Don have done a fantastic job with their cottage. Its the perfect size for 2-5 people and great views of Cayuga. We did a bunch of wine tours, grilled dinners, had campfires at night, but mostly just laid around sleeping, reading, and looking at the lake.

The cottage is located right on the lake. You are literally ten feet from the lake on the back deck. Upper bedroom looks right out over the lake. Plenty of sleeping areas. I spent three days at the lovely Cozy Cove Cottage on Cayuga Lake in upstate New York. A private lane leads you this very special spot on the western lake shore. The first thing you notice is the quiet, punctuated only by the lapping of the water and the sounds of swallows and warblers. The interior exudes a simple country charm and the deck and dock are perfect places to enjoy a drink at sunset. When you venture out, which at times is difficult, the nearby area is filled with many activities and points of interest ... vineyards offering wine tastings, rustic farmhouses and craft shops. The Mennonite culture flourishes in the area and their stores offer wholesome natural products for preparing wonderful meals to enjoy back at the Cottage.

First of all, the setting of this cottage is ideal. It's got that feeling as if you were thrown back in time to the 1950's when summer getaways were quaint, secluded and relaxing.
The cottage facilities all work fantastic, but do not expect state of the art. To me this "vintage" feeling just added to the feeling of being transported to another time, outside my busy life at home. And it lives up to its name as cozy for sure!
The screened in front porch has an amazing view of the lake and is only feet away from the shore. So I hope you don't mind the soft, rhythmic sound of the water lapping up on the shore to lull you to sleep (:
All in all this spot has a charm and presence that you rarely find anymore in completely over renovated spaces. I felt extremely comfortable and at ease there.
I would highly recommend this cottage for an unforgetable getaway either with a loved one or the entire family!

Charming cabin with all the comforts of home and none of the pressures. Beautiful lake, easy access for swimming or wind surfing. If there are neighbors, we never saw one and had the lake front all to ourselves. The house is nicely appointed and the kitchen had everything a vacation chef would want. Wineries near by are a nice attraction but really, once we got settled in at the cabin, we never wanted to leave. Not ever!
