My husband and I spent a relaxing week at Glen Tara with another couple and our two dogs. It was the perfect retreat and we enjoyed many days lounging by the creek, swimming and splashing in the cool water which was surprisingly deep in spots. We barbecued almost every evening and even hosted a dinner with several friends who live in Cazadero and Sonoma. The house is comfortable and had everything we needed. The house is at the end of a cul-de-sac and felt very private.
Raymond's bakery is just up the road and we went several times to pick up fresh pastries in the morning, and even went there our first evening at the rental for pizza, beer and music. The only negative thing I can say about Glen Tara is that the shower in the second (down a spiral staircase in the basement) bathroom was no more than a trickle. Other than that it was a wonderful experience and we'll definitely stay there again. Read more
So glad you enjoyed your stay at Glen Tara! People often seem surprised when we tell them it's possible to swim in the creek. We don't have any notes about downstairs shower, so perhaps this was a temporary decrease in water pressure? The downstairs bathroom is on schedule to be remodeled this winter - what a great reason to come stay with us again and check it out!

We numbered five adults, one teenager and a large dog for a three day stay over NYE. The cabin was exactly as described, and sufficiently roomy for everyone to have their own space. The stocked kitchen, ample creekside outdoor space, and steaming hot tub were all put to good use. We would definitely stay here again! Read more
Thanks for your review! I'm so glad you (and everyone else in your group) enjoyed Glen Tara! It's a great spot... And a great place to get away from the rest of the world!

We really like the accomodations at Geln Tara. We stayed for Thanksgiving weekend and were very happy that the kitchen was fully stocked with all the tools we needed. So if you like to cook, this was a great rental. It was clean and cozy. There is a good bakery/pizza at the end of the street which is a good landmark as the road is hard to spot and the owner lives on the same road and is very friendly.
The scenery is beautiful and quiet. My only knock is that it is remote and besides the bakery the nearest shop is 10 minutes away and Guernville is about a 20-30 dirve. Read more
Thank you for sharing a review of Glen Tara! It's a great property and the owners have done great work over the last couple years remodeling and updating the amenities... And we all love Raymond's Bakery, but wished they wouldn't close during the winter!
For folks staying in any of our Cazadero homes, it's good to note that there is a small-ish general store, post office and hardware/automotive shop in the town of Cazadero - and Raymond's Bakery a smidge closer to Hwy 116. Monte Rio and Guerneville a a longer drive for more shopping and supplies. Duncan's Mills is 5 to 10 minutes away and has some shops too... Most folks stock up on their way to the house and hide from the world! If you love being away from it all...
And a quick correction - the former co-owners of Glen Tara live on the same street as weekend/vacation visitors. You don't have to worry that someone's watching your every move! Enjoy - relax - chill in the woods!

Delightful and Comfortable

We loved hanging out on the large deck on the comfortable deck chairs, sipping wine and eating or soaking in the jacuzzi. It was quiet and pretty. The creek was delightful, and the woods were fragrant with pine. It got very cold at night so we really appreciated the excellent, easy to use central heating system. All the beds and furnishings were very comfortable, the kitchen complete and modern. We enjoyed the telescope and the interesting books around the house. The house was charming and comfortable on every level. Read more
All that work to good use... The owners of Glen Tara have done some fantastic remodeling each year to make the house an awesome get away! This year included walling-in the third bedroom, more kitchen goodness and updates throughout the house. We think they are doing a great job and it sounds like yo agree!
