Description from the owner

This recently restored flat is on the second floor of an ancient palazzo without lift. Its unique location, right over the sea, looking out to the coastline on one side and to the roof tops and the Cathedral from the bedroom window, gives it its peculiar charm. You can sit in the living room or on the small terrace and let yourself be lulled by the sound of the sea and contemplate its changing colours from morning till sunset. A beautiful sandy beach lays only five minutes away on foot and there is a small cove just under the flat.

The flat is about 40 square metres, bright and airy with high wooden ceilings and tile floors. It is simp...Read more

Left on 06/15/2013 for a stay in June 2013

We stayed for 5 days and have never stayed in place like it...the location and views were the best we have ever experienced...not luxury but for the price and everything else, you just simply can't beat it...would certainly stay here again...Would not want to go anywhere else to stay in cefalu,it was just the best...we did actually spend 2 days in cefalu in a 4 star hotel after leaving this flat and it was such a let down...if you want an experience like no other, then take our advise and stay in this flat,it was simply breathtaking...

      Great Cefalu flat!

Left on 05/26/2013 for a stay in May 2013

If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay in Cefalu with the most stunning view in town, and want to be able to cook the fresh fish and produce you can buy down the street, you should look no further! We stayed almost 3 weeks and felt very at home here. This flat is not upscale, but is exactly like the photos on the website - even larger than we expected. We found it to be comfortable and embraced its history. Being directly on the sea, maintenance is expensive and challenging, but the owner takes great pride. Cefalu, while a much busier place than it was 7 years ago, is still charming and makes a great location for day trips to Monreale, Castelbuono, hiking in the Madonie Mountains and visiting many smaller towns. Train and bus service are both good, though finding accurate info can be a bit time-consuming. Rental cars for day trips and organized tour excursions are also plentiful in town. We found these great options for getting out to the mountains and taking a trip to Mt. Etna, as having a car in Cefalu is problematic. Lots of great restaurants and the beach is beautiful. As others have said, Maria Carla is most generous, helpful and someone we felt vey fortunate to get to know.

The flat was even better than appeared on the website

Left on 01/26/2013 for a stay in January 2013

We were met at Cefalu train station by the lovely, vivacious Maria and walked the few minutes to the flat. On entering the flat we were absolutely delighted when Maria opened up the shutters on the two little balconies - the view was more than we could have hoped for. The flat has everything you would want and felt very homey. The bed and pillows were comfortable and plenty of warm blankets as we were there in winter for 6 nights.
The location of the flat is ideal - right in the heart of the old town. It is a very safe area - we never had any problems walking around at night and there is an abundance of good restaurants to choose from or you can buy fresh produce from the little fruit/veg carts to cook at the flat.
Maria could not have been more helpful and gracious. After showing us around the flat and advising on places to visit she phoned the next day to see if everything was ok.
We would certainly recommend the flat to anyone, we didn't want to leave and hope one day to return to Maria's flat and Cefalu.

Enchanted by the sea, lulled by the sound of waves

Left on 09/29/2012 for a stay in September 2012

The apartment was indeed charming and the location, in a historic building on the seafront couldn't be better. Cefalu's beautiful main beach was a two or three minute walk away and smaller coves equally close. Our stay coincided with an annual ice cream festival and the town was alive with the excitement of the festivities (free concerts, hundreds of stands where one could have exquisite tastes of gelato), yet the apartment itself remained a simple, peaceful haven to retreat to. We particularly enjoyed cooking fresh fish and eating it looking out onto the sea. However, Cefalu also has many good restaurants to chose from, and beautiful architecture to admire. The helpful owner made us feel very welcome. We wouldn't hesitate to return to Cefalu if the opportunity presented itself and this apartment would definitely be our first choice of accommodation once again.

Left on 09/16/2012 for a stay in September 2012

It was an absolute delight to stay in this flat. The location is perfect, on the top floor of a historic house by the sea. Cefalu's beautiful, main sandy beach was a few minutes away, as were a couple of smaller coves. We loved cooking fresh fish at home to enjoy looking out at the magnificent view of the bay. We also had the good luck to have our stay coincide with an ice cream festival, which made the town very animated (free concerts, scrumptious mini cones, etc.). The owner was very hospitable and charming. We would definitely return for a longer stay if the opportunity arises.

Breath taking Mediterranean views from balcony ,Smack in the hea

Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in August 2012

I stayed at this flat on august 5th 2012 for one week and enjoyed every day waking up having a caffe and going to sleep with some good vino ,just sitting on the balcony enjoying the tranquility of the ocean view ,it is truly spectacular !!! .

Maria Carla is a fantastic host welcoming me with some fruit from her garden and we also had a great chat about the historic Information on the flat and the area, very interesting .

The flat is spacious clean and is equipped with everything one would need to make them feel at home on thier stay.

The area as mention in other posts is perfect !! , walking distance to many fine restaurants and shops , 1/2 block from beech with local treasures like the Cathedral and path to the top of La Rocca with anciant ruins and spectacular views of Cefalu . Absolutely no need for a car while in Cefalu.

I choose Cefalu also ,because it is centrally located to many areas of interests ,that can be access by car for day trips also to see more of this wonderful island.

As a bonus ,I was there during the San Salvatore festival which really gave me a great taste of local Sicillian culture and what the town history is all about .

The trip overall was a great experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone ,feel free to ask any questions.

      Thanks MC

Unique house and location with atmosphere.

Left on 07/18/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We had visited the ancient town of Cefalu before so we knew where this flat was located and that we would not be disappointed. Our preparatory correspondence with the owner, Maria Carla, also indicated that we could expect a warm welcome and personal service, both of which proved to be the case.
The flat´s location on the seafront, built on remains of the original city walls is truly unique. The present owner´s family history (part of which can be read in her own short account available in the flat) is closely entwined with the building itself which is situated right over the famous "il lavatoio" (washing spring). We never tired of the views from the flat over the sparkling sea to the west, while the magnificent Norman cathedral seems almost next door. The location is also ideal for exploring all parts of the town.
This is not a luxury flat, but the facilities were quite adequate for us, an elderly couple. Maria Carla was most friendly and helpful at all times and when the hot water boiler developed a fault a new one was installed practically on the same day.
We greatly appreciated the unique opportunity of having experienced a true Sicilian house with history and character.

Amazing sea views in the heart of old Cefalu

Left on 06/21/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We were met with a very warm welcome on arrival by Maria Carla - loved the roses in vases, and fruit from Maria Carla's orchard!

The location of the apartment could not be better, easily accessible from the train station, 5 minutes from the beach and right in the center of the Old Town and minutes away from many restaurants.

The sea views are breathtaking. I could sit on the terrace looking out to sea for hours! Very relaxing. And the apartment was surprisingly quiet even though it's situated in such a popular area.

The apartment is absolutely charming and rustic, perhaps not for those with 5-star aspirations but nonetheless, a wonderful little holiday gem.

A lovely cool oasis on the seaside

Left on 05/30/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Maria Carla was wonderfully hospitalble and her flat is a delightful place to stay in Cefalu's old town. Everything in the flat worked well and the views especially the stunning sunsets from almost every window are wonderful. The beach is a very short walk away and there is a supermarket about 10 min walk away but there are also shops in the same street selling almost anything you might need.

      Beautiful view!

Left on 05/13/2012 for a stay in May 2012

I stayed in this flat for a week in May this year. The flat is in one of the main street in the old town of Cefalu. However it's very quiet. The view over the sea is beautiful and the terrace is big enough to take meals. Maria the owner is very nice and helpful and if in season will welcome you with delicious oranges and grapefruits from her garden.

A lovely, relaxing stay in a characterful appartment with wonder

Left on 04/08/2012 for a stay in April 2012

We very much enjoyed staying for a week in this appartment at the beginning of april. It was quiet and airy, though right in the centre of the old part of Cefalu. What makes the appartment really special is that it is right on the water; the two balconies both have wonderful views of the sea and the beach. The appartment is homely and comfortable rather than luxurious. Maria Carla was extremely friendly and helpful. Cefalu is an atmospherically historic small city, getting busier in the week we were there but relaxed and delightful to explore. There is good walking in the nearby Madonie mountains; you really need a car to access most of the walking trails and parking in Cefalu can be difficult - we did a deal with a local parking lot for the week.

A fabulous historic house overlooking the Mediterranean!

Left on 02/19/2012 for a stay in December 2011

We stayed in this apartment in December 2011. Its situation is perfect with views from the 3 balconies over the Mediterranean. Maria Carla is a wonderful landlord, immediately making you welcome and telling the interesting history of this house, which has been in her family for several generations.

Situated in the heart of Cefalu, the apartment is well placed for local shops and restaurants, the market and the historic cathedral. If you, like us, enjoy staying somewhere that is rather unique and quirky, then this apartment is definitely for you.

      A apartment with a view!

Left on 02/18/2012 for a stay in December 2011

If you are seeking a historic town large enough to provide all essential amenities (decent restaurants, shops, bakers etc) and yet small enough to feel at home in, then Cefalu is a great destination. The flat is right in the heart of the town, yet due to its position it provides the most fantastic views across the bay. Two balconies provide scope for quiet relaxation and enjoyment of the scenery. The kitchen is well-equipped and the shower has the most amazing sea view. All just three minutes walk from the beach. We plan on staying there again.

Left on 02/18/2012 for a stay in June 2011

We've stayed in Cefalu many times and this is the nicest flat we've ever rented. Ideal central location - 2 minutes from everything you need - the pretty medieval centre, the beach, shops and restaurants. The flat is beautifully located over the ancient wash house and has multiple views of the sea and Cefalu. Nice and comfortable and friendly personal service from the lady owner. We'll definitely stay there again. Recommended.
