Villa Collina is located in the ideal spot for exploring this wonderful Region of Abruzzo. In the heart of 'True Italy' where unspoilt ancient hill top villages overlook miles of beautiful countryside covered with vineyards, olive groves and fields of wheat and sunflowers. The wooded valleys are home to lots of wild life including badgers, hares, wild boar and foxes. Many species of birds have their habitat near the Villa including large Buzzards that soar on the thermals over the valley at the rear of the Villa. Swifts can be seen swooping over the swimming pool in the evenings and Nightingales sing their melodious song all night long!
Villa Collina has easy access to the road network throughout the Abruzzo Region and those leading to all the other parts of Italy, including Rome just 2 hours away!
Within an hour you can explore the amazing Apennine Mountains. The three National Parks and numerous nature reserves (WWF) are inhabited by many species of wildlife including bears, wolves, chamois deer, porcupine and eagles. There are a number of interesting Geological features in the locality such as caves, spectacular gorges and dolomite rock formations.
Abruzzo is proud of its beautiful sandy beaches which have had the Blue Flag Award for cleanliness since 1999. Beaches have long golden sands and safe swimming for all the family in the shallow, turquoise blue water. There are many small seaside resorts with palm lined promenades where the Italians like to walk in the evenings. These are not over commercialised and remain relatively free of foreign tourists. Our nearest resort is Pineto, just a 20 minute drive away, where tall pine trees grow next to the beach offering shade from the midday sun and is the ideal spot for an after lunch siesta!
Within ten minutes of Villa Collina are many excellent Restaurants, supermarkets, shops, banks and unspoilt, medieval hill-top villages all waiting to be discovered!
Villa Collina is in the heart of Abruzzo where traditions are of utmost importance and life seems to have stood still. Abruzzo people love their food and wine, they work hard but also know how to enjoy life and are very proud of their heritage. This is reflected in their way of life and family values. Things here seem to have 'stood still' for centuries so a vacation here is like taking a step back in time! Why not come and discover Abruzzo for yourselves!!Read more

We have just returned from Villa Collina where we rented the two bedroom apartment. On arrival Cilla & Bryan were there to greet us and show us around and explain how things worked, they also let us know where to find them if we needed any help. The apartment had everything we needed, a fully fitted kitchen with a range of appliances, the lounge and dining room were very spacious and led to our own terrace, we ate out there every day and thanks to part of it being covered we could eat lunch as well without burning in the sun. They do also have a free wi-fi connection at the villa which was great.
Outside and around the swimming pool there are lovely pots planted with colourful flowers, plenty of seats and loungers with lots of umbrellas to shield yourself from the sun. They do also supply pool towels to save you using the ones from your bathroom. There is also a barbecue for guests to use down by the pool.
The surrounding area is totally unspoilt, we felt we were in the 'real Italy' and found prices for eating out very reasonable. The owners told us about the local vineyard where you can buy a 5litre box of red wine for only 8 Euros.
There is a lovely beach at Roseto that we drove down to, we also went into the mountains (Gran Sasso range) and were amazed after driving round windy roads that it opened out onto a massive plain which looks so different to anywhere else. There is a great restaurant/cafe up there that serves good food, it's the only one so you can't miss it.
We found Cilla & Bryan very friendly and approachable, and it was while talking to them one day that we found out they rent the whole villa as well, so we have booked it for a big family celebration next year, there will be 12 of us going and we're sure everybody else will be as impressed as we are.
