Inglewood New ZealandAbsolutely great cottage in a great location.
Left on 07/15/2012 for a stay in April 2012
The Cottage was absolutely lovely, well appointed and with great ambience which certainly gave us the feeling of authentically living in France. It was just perfect for us being so close to the local shops in the centre of Cenac while at the same time having a pastoral view (and a great climb to Domme). It was also so central with easy driving to all the major attractions and each day we would return to Cottage Le Capiol via a different route. Thank you Paul for your hospitality and what a wonderful part of France.

BrisbaneWonderful cottage Capiol
Left on 05/26/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We had a wonderful stay at Cottage Capiol with our friends. We really felt at home and the cottage had everything that we needed for our week stay. We really loved the old cottage and the village of Cenac, just a wonderful experience. The whole booking process and information was really good and
Paul was always available for any information we needed. We felt very confident when booking our stay.
We explored the whole area and found so much to see and do. We were there for market day at Cenac, it was great to experience local market.
We enjoyed wondering around Cenac and Domme. The village had everything we needed, we had some lovely dinners, all within walking distance from the cottage.
We have taken away some wonderful memories from our stay at Cottage Capiol.

Brisbane, Australia -Le Capiol is a place I would recommend to others.
Left on 05/01/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Hi all,
Our stay in Le Capiol was just great. We left Paris, train to Brive ( parking ticket at Brive - don't park at the station )and arrived in Cenac, followed Paul's instructions to the cottage - spot on, and settled in for 4 days. The cottage is a delight, beautifully renovated, and had everything you could imagine to make our stay complete.Paul had all the info needed to find your way around, and Domme / Beynac etc are just great places to visit. -

Lovely house, very well equipped - ideal for 2 adults and 2 children. Wonderful location - close to many of the best sites in the Dordogne - Domme on the doorstep, Sarlat and La Roque Gageac within 20 minutes. Small town of Cenac is perfect - shops and restaurants in walking distance, and they are open out of season, unlike many places in the area. Parking opposite, which is great. Lovely views over the rooftops from the first floor living area. The house was clean and well furnished, and the owner provided tea, coffee, and a bottle of wine, when we arrived
Only downsides were
a) the coldness of the house when we moved in - it took 3 days and quite a lot of money to heat it - something to bear in mind if you come in winter.
b) a terrible smell in the shower room every morning, so bad it almost made you gag. We used to hold our noses when we were showering. We had to keep the door closed all day so the bedroom did not smell. We reported this to the owner so hopefully he has done something about it.
Recommended assuming smell is resolved.Response from Mr Paul Emmott - 04/06/2012
Owner
The problem of any smell has been resolved.
Winter central heating is charged at cost by meter reading which worked out at less than 8 Euros per day. -

Ramsey, NJLovely cottage with Character in the Beautiful Dordogne
Left on 06/09/2011 for a stay in May 2011
While living in the UK, many of our friends recommended a visit to the Dordogne. It did not disappoint, The area is beautiful with plenty to do. The cottage was very clean and welcoming with lots of character in a lovely, quiet village setting. We were traveling with our 20-something sons and the only drawback was that it did not have Wifi. All other amenities were there along with a nice bottle of wine to help us wind down after a long day of traveling from the us. We took nice walks to Cenac and Domme, saw castles, visited caves kayaked on the river and ate wonderful meals in Sarlat and other lovely towns. Having great sunny weather added to a great experience.

Albany, AustraliaA comfortable relaxed stay in the shadow of Domme
Left on 06/05/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We booked this online for a week for 2 adults and 2 kids because we wanted to see the Dordogne valley, and this looked great and better value than others in bigger centers such as Sarlat. Booking, payment and checkin was easy, Paul accommodating last minute changes. The house is lovely, with added benefit of a little terrace. The kitchen is well set up, and immaculately clean and well organized. Plenty of tourist information provided including walking maps which we loved - found ruins in the forest and a mole in a field.
The house is in a quiet residential location - good for us (could walk to supermarket, boulangerie etc) but perhaps a little quiet if you're after nightlife.
We walked up the hill to Domme most days, visited La roque gageac, Les Eyzies, Castelnaud etc which are all close. Also walking distance to canoe hire and had a great afternoon paddling to Beynac.
To be perfect for us, it would have Wifi, but the bars down the road and Tourism office had free wifi so wasn't really a problem. -

Dunedin, New ZealandQuintessentially French Village Experience!
Left on 03/04/2011 for a stay in July 2010
Cenac is a 'living' French village oozing with charm and character in a lush, beautiful part of the Dordogne. The village is ideally situated near a multitude of outstanding natural and historic attractions. Cottage Le Capiol is in the heart of Cenac with good views over the village, walking distance to all amenities, restaurants & shops. The Cottage is delightful; very comfortable, full of character and well equipped. We stayed for 7 months and were very sad to leave. It was a joy to watch the seasons change from the main window. Bikes were our only form of transport during our stay and we had great fun exploring the area - still some to explore. A car helps to expand boundaries of exploration! The owner, Paul is a good communicator, attentive and easily contactable. He addressed all our queries promptly and helped resolve issues relating to our long stay.
If you want a truly authentic, wonderful French experience we would recommend Cenac, its locals and Cottage Le Capiol. -

Left on 08/27/2010 for a stay in September 2009
Cottage Le Capiol is the perfect place to stay while exlploring the historic and beautiful Dordogne region, but you will need a car as there is little public transport available. Even getting a taxi is difficult.
We were met at the station at Salat by Paul (the well organised and friendly owner) and he drove us the 15 kms to Cenet.
The cottage has been carefully restored and has all the mod cons without losing its centuries old character. We would love to stay there again when we visit for a longer holiday, hopefully soon. -

LondonDelightful week
Left on 10/07/2009 for a stay in May 2009
The cottage was very comfortable for two couples and placed in a lovely village with markets and shops which were a short stroll in the morning for breakfast croissants. The villagers were friendly which delighted my father whose role was to collect the croissants each morning.
It was well set up and made our stay very enjoyable. I would recommend this cottage to others wishing to enjoy a lovely week in a pretty region of France. -

Left on 08/26/2009 for a stay in August 2009
Communication with the owner was good, the cottage we found just as described. It has everything you need and is in a quiet lane yet just a walk to shops, restaurant and the river. The village is really nice and all the places to go and visit are just a short drive. We just loved the character of the place.
