Villa Provenzo, was completed in 2009. It's been built to very high standards and tastefully furnished with light wood furniture and comfortable sofas, giving the villa a light and airy feel. The owner's have scoured the shops both in Kefalonia and on the Greek mainland for items that add that an extra something. With a backdrop of Mount Aenos, views across the turquoise sea to Zakynthos, shops and tavernas in walking distance and a beautiful beach just down the hill, what more could you want?
Situated at the end of a small track just off the road down to the Lourdas beach, a set of steps take you up to the Villa. The private pool is... right in front of you at the far side of the paved terrace area, which has a number of established flower beds. A built in barbecue completes the terrace, perfect for those summer evenings and the outdoor dining experience.
The living area is open plan, with a fully fitted modern kitchen including essentials such as a washing machine and dishwasher - there to make your stay just that little bit easier. There is also a dining area with table and chairs and dresser and a lounge with Flat Screen TV and DVD player. Patio doors lead directly from the lounge area out onto the terrace where there is a shaded area with outside table and chairs.
Also on the ground floor level is a large double bedroom with plentiful wardrobe space and a separate bathroom with bath and over shower.
Upstairs are a further two bedrooms, one double, one twin but both with large wardrobes and ensuite full bathrooms with shower over the bath. Patio doors from both bedrooms and from the landing lead onto the extremely large balcony where you will find table and chairs together with a double swing chair. The views from here are breathtaking and panoramic, Mount Aenos and virtually the whole of the south coast of the island and across the sea to Zakynthos is clearly visible.
A good choice of restaurants and shops are within a 10 minute walk and the long sandy beach at Lourdas is only a 5 minute drive or 25 minute walk down hill. Sunbeds and Umbrellas are available for rent and during high season you can hire motorboats from the beach. A selection of tavernas just off the beach are open throughout the day, often serving fresh locally caught fish together with fresh vegetables grown in the many allotments that line the sea front.
Exploring in the area is easy with plenty of beaches to visit, all of which are sandy and gently shelving, some with facilities, others almost deserted, although just that little bit harder to find, but well worth the extra effort. If you are interested in history then this is the perfect base with the Byzantian Castle of St George, Mycenian tombs of Mazerakata and the Nunnery of St Andreas, with the well preserved sole of his foot, all within a 10 minute drive. The Island's capitol Argostoli is just 20 minutes away, perfect for shopping or an evening out.
