bellingenwe wish we could go back every year
Left on 03/26/2012 for a stay in June 2010
We were the first guests. We expected to be isolated as we did not have a car. Never a problem as there are buses & Kate drove us shopping & sightseeing to places we would never have discovered. I could write pages - all complimentary. The highlights were helping on the farm, meeting the neighbours & watching the soccer world cup on a neighbour's TV in the middle of the paddock. An evening schnapps while the neighbours played the accordian & sang - just wonderful. Just sitting & looking at the beautiful view from our balcony & talking to Lupa the dog was magic. Am feeling very nostalgic while writing this. Well done Kate & Brett. Slovenia is wonderful

CorkAuthentic rural escape

My husband, 3 year old son and I spent 2 fab weeks at Tilnik farm in Summer 2010. Kate and Brett, a charming British couple have relocated there and gave us such a warm welcome. The lovingly restored old farmhouse is really tucked away from it all, and has gorgeous views of the surrounding hills. The house is split into 2 separate living quarters. The one we were in was tastefully decorated with all the mod cons.We loved getting our organic fresh goats milk and eggs in the morning, and it was so refreshing to meet the creatures who supply the food!! Another bonus was while we had the freedom to cook our own food,Kate can also cook you dinner. This was a real bonus for us, as we could put our boy to bed and have our dinner served to us without leaving the house. It was like going out without the added cost of a babysitter. The icing on the cake is that Kate is a trained masseuse, and I availed of her skills while on holiday there, so relaxing.
Kate and Brett were great, they were friendly and helpful without being intrusive, and were able to tell us all the hot spots to visit. There are many, Lake Bled, Lubjiana, the capital, an amazing set of inland caves that stretch for miles, etc etc.
Slovenia is not a typical holiday destination but well worth a visit, peter and I both agreed it's one of Europe's best kept secrets. You need a car to get around, but it's well worth it.Far from your typical package holiday, a stay at Tilnik is about as authentic an experience of Slovenia as you'll get, we have really warm memories of our time there. Thanks guys! -

NelsonSuperb location and great hosts
Left on 11/20/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We stayed for 10 days this year, Tilnik's location is central to many of Slovenia's amazing rivers and mountains. 'Rural Retreat' sums up Tilnik. When we were not exploring the local area, soaking up the scenery from this ridge top farm was great, very relaxing and only a short walk down to the river for a swim. Kate and Brett are excellent hosts and made sure we had everything we required. Getting to help with the traditional hay making was a great experience.
You must try some of their home made Salami/sausage.
