Baan Talay Samran is a complex of self contained holiday homestays set amongst an extremely well maintained garden with coconut trees and frangipani. The beach is 30 seconds walk away. The houses are all privately owned but the site has a large team of staff keeping things tidy - the houes are only a few years old, they are very clean too - we were also travelleiing with a two week old baby and we had no concerns whatever about the hygiene. There are three or four swimming pools of different depths. Our two year old loved these - one of the pools only came up to his waist. The beach is clean and quiet and we saw no stray dogs. However, when we were here the sea was quite rough - not sure if this is the case all year round. The sand is also quite course, containing many shells under the surface of sand. Even better for a two year old! The water was not as clear as we've seen it in other parts of Thailand but I had no impression at all that the water was dirty, as others have commented about the water in Cha am. We spent a lot of time in Hua Hin but only running errands - we did go to the beach there but we did not find it remarkably better, or more fun. Tomas, the owner of the house was contactable at all times and we found him friendly and helpful. We told him that a small leak had been noticed in a hose and maintenance staff were knocking on the door later the same day. Very impressed all round and we stayed an extra 3 nights because we liked it so much. We'll certainly be coming back.

Spent a wonderful, relaxing week here. The villa is comfortable, the gardens and simming pools are beautiful. The beach is small, but has a perfect "desert island" feel. The restuarant serves good food, well-cooked and providing excellent value for money, and the little shop has all you need for lunches, breakfast and pre-dinner drinks. I've already recommended it to others.
