    Additional Location Information

The Turks and Caicos Islands are a small archipelago of 8 inhabited islands and numerous small cays just 575 miles southeast of Miami. Fringed by one of the longest barrier reefs in the world the Turks and Caicos islands are blessed with beaches of powder white sand and some of the best scuba diving and snorkelling in the Caribbean.

The islands are arranged around the edges of two large limestone plateaus, the Turks Bank, with deep offshore waters that serve as major transit points for Humpback Whales, spotted Eagle rays, Manta Rays and Turtles. Anglers who are fishing for Tuna, Wahoo and Blue Marlin use these same rich waters. Bordering the edges of the islands are lines of coral reef and some of the most impressive walls of coral in the Caribbean.

Providenciales, or more commonly known as "Provo", covers an area of 38 miles and is the most developed island in Turks and Caicos. Surrounded by beautiful white sand beaches, Provo has been ranked "Best Beach" by Conde' Nast magazine and by the World Travel Awards for several years running.

Provo has a temperate climate and is comfortable all year round with temperatures in the mid 70s in winter and mid 80s in Summer. The absence of a cruise port and the islands low key night life maintain it's exclusivity and it's appeal to vacationers looking for a secluded and serene Caribbean destination.

Towards the south of the island you will find Chalk Sound, a large stretch of striking turquoise water dotted with an array of tiny cays. Protected as a National Park the three mile long lagoon is a magical place to explore by kayak and just a short paddle away iguanas can be find on one of the small islands. The beautiful beaches of Sapodilla and Taylor bay are just a few minutes walk away.

Comfortable, relaxing stay at Driftwood Villa

Left on 02/29/2012 for a stay in February 2012

Three generations of my family stayed here the 3rd week of February. There are two bedrooms, and one of them has a pullout sofa bed, where my two kids, ages 6 and 8, slept. It's a very quiet part of the island, about a 15-minute drive from the hub bub of Grace Bay. Two beaches just minutes away were gorgeous and quiet. The kids enjoyed the small pool everyday (it's right next to the outside dining area) as well as exploring the rocky promontory jutting into Chalk Sound. The kitchen is very well equipped and supplied with some essentials to get us going for the week. It was also nice to have books on the shelves to peruse, and a small cooler in the closet for beach picnics. Check-in was flawless; we were met at the airport and led to the house for a brief tour. All in all, it was a fabulous choice for our group of 6, and I would absolutely recommend this to others looking for a quiet, comfortable villa.

      Awesome Vacation!

Left on 02/06/2012 for a stay in January 2012

Just got back from spending 9 days at the Driftwood Villa with another couple. Everything about our trip was great! The accomodations were excellent. We were met at the airport and escorted to the house. The house is well equiped with everything you might need. Very clean with spectacular views of the Sound. The pool is a real bonus. The nearby beaches (Sapodilla and Taylor) are spectacular with unbelievable sunsets and are great for young children. In our opinion, Chalk Sound was the best location to be in Provo. Everything is very close including grocery shopping. From this location it is only minutes to any part of the island including Grace Bay. We rented a car and felt very safe at all times. All and all the perfect place to relax. The Villa felt like home to us.

Turks Head brewery is close by as is the fisheries where we went to buy some fresh lobster. The "Belongers" are great people, very friendly. Make sure you visit the Conch Shack for lunch. Also had a great lunch at Seven Stars Resort.
