RhosneigrPerfect location for our 3 family ski break/wedding.
Left on 03/31/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We stayed in chalet slider for a week before our friends wedding in Les Praz. I was very worried before we left the UK as our party contained two grandparents, two couples and our 7 week old baby, 2 year old and our friends 9 month old and 3 year old.
The chalet was perfect for our needs and had the most beautiful views. The massive garden shared between the chalets is invaluable for entertaining the kids in the snow.
The chalet was a 5 minute walk into town/to the closest supermarket and slightly less to our favourite patisserie. From the entrance to the drive to acces the chalets you can see the train and bus stop which was so convenient for trips out of Chamonix.
The chalet itself was perfectly equipped for a self catering week away. It also very comfortably housed the 10 of us. We used the chalet just as we would our home, cooking most of our meals there and doing laundry etc. I thought I wouldn't cope without a tumble drier and that many kids all together but the clothes horse allowed the laundry to dry overnight.
The staff here really made the holiday, nothing was too much trouble. They were all so helpful with advice on activities to entertain us and the children, help on the Sunday we arrived with getting to the chalet and supermarket which really was above and beyond, lending us sledges and one day we had a problem with the hot water and they were wonderful and checked on us and the water for our remaining couple of days. I've never had such friendly, genuine service elsewhere.
The only thing I would like for a return visit would be better curtains! Sounds ridiculous but with 4 children a nice dark room for nap time/bedtime would be perfect, unfortunately the skylight in the toddler bedroom didn't have a blind so when the sun came out (early!), the kids decided it was time to get up!
Thank you for our wonderful sledging holiday. -

Stavanger, NorwayGreat service and good location

We were 6 guys in Chalet Iceman which is in a good location about 6-7 minutes walk from the centre of Chamonix. It is next door to the adventure Base offices so help is always available. All the staff at adventure base were positive and smiling and always willing and able to help with all our needs, including organising airport pickups and skibus to the slopes. The chalet is getting a bit worn but suited our needs perfectly. There is a wood fire and UK tv which we used but the fire is very much more decorative m than efficient but free wood is provided. It is also just a short walk each morning to the local baker for fresh bread and croissants. All in all a very good experience.

A party of 10
LondonBeautiful view, good location, otherwise just average
Left on 03/03/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We were 10 people having a half term ski holidays. Chalet Viper had a good location close to Chamonix centre, no car was needed, everybody in adventure Base taking care of us was extremely friendly and helpful, the view from the living room window was good, but the chalet as such was just very average. Two showers and toilets for 10 people did not work very well. The kitchen was directly from the 80's or 70's even, aged and not very spirit lifting. The bedrooms downstairs had ironbars in front of the small windows, which made the rooms feel like prison cells. The storage room was downstairs, without a door out, so it was not very practical to carry the skis and boots every day up and down making the stairs wet with melting snow. We definitely will not choose this chalet again. The internet photos gave a wrong impression of the house. When I stepped in through the front door I immediately knew that this was not what I wished it had been! The good news was that there was a bakery just about 5 minutes walk away, so we could easily have delicious bread and croissants for breakfast. After all, we spent minimal time in the chalet, sking was superb and Chamonix restaurants as well.

Georgiana, AlabamaGreat chalet! Fantastic staff!
Left on 02/24/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We had a fantastic stay in Chamonix in a great chalet.
We booked a chalet with adventure Base - who by the way I cannot recommend enough.
Here is the picture of our Chalet:
Chalet Slider is a 4 bed/2 bathroom chalet for 8-10 people (2 people can sleep on a pullout and a couch). We were 7 people so we were very comfortable in the 4 bedrooms and the large living areas.
It had a very nice alpine feel to it with lots of wood! I particularly liked the wooden table and cute chairs.Â
And I very much liked the big fireplace! There was a supply of wood nicely stacked outside our door so we lit the fire every evening.
All mod cons were included in the house e.g ipod docking station for playing music & charging.
For me it is absolutely essential I have internet connection on holidays (sad I know) so the full wi-fi was most appreciated.Â
Last year the apartment we stayed in in austria did not have wi-fi and I recall I left a comment in the Guest Book that they should consider getting it in for the guests.
The chalet also had some kind of receiver/saorview box which meant it had English TV - Ch4, E4, UTV, BBC etc. That was a nice little bonus.
More lovely wood up on the landing of the upstairs - the chalet has two bedrooms upstairs and two bedrooms off the living room.
Â
Kitchen: It was small but pefectly adequate. Kitchen is not really a priority when you've got a mountain outside your front door!!
Â
Oh and finally a special mention goes to the staff of Adventure Base. Have I mentioned Charlie???! When we arrived to the chalet we were greeted by Charlie who helped carry our bags in - he carried my snowboard and two suitcases all in one go, what a gent! :-)
He showed us around the chalet gave us info about the chalet and the area.Â
And then he offered to hang around to drive us to the Intersport to collect our gear and he then dropped us up to the slopes - this meant that we got a bonus half day boarding in so that was brilliant. Thanks Charlie :-)
Â
Mark was of great assistance to us also - later during the week he drove us all the supermarket which saved us a taxi fee.Â
Be warned Taxis are exorbitantly expensive in Chamonix - avoid at all costs.
He was also very supportive to us and helpful at the end of holiday when we were having a little issue with our airport transfer. Thanks Mark :-) -

Cupar, United Kingdomvery nice apartment
Left on 08/06/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Stayed in apartment Cougar for 2 weeks this summer. The apartment was very well appointed with good cooking, sleeping, bathroom and storage facilities. For 2 people it was very spacious. The apartment sleeps 5 but that would be a squash, but OK if you were out most of the time. The adventure Base staff were fantastic, so friendly and helpful! There were lots of nice touches you don't usually get with a budget apartment such as milk in the fridge and some toiletries to get us started. The apartment is in Chamonix Sud which is very central and great for accessing lots of activities. The downside is that it is a noisy part of town so make sure you are out enjoying the nearby bars and restaurants in the evenings! Free on-street parking nearby. I would definitely book with adventure Base again.

London, United KingdomAmazing views and adventurous crowd!
Left on 07/25/2012 for a stay in July 2012
My husband and I stayed in the adventure Base Chalet Viper in July 2012 as part of our alps mountain climbing trip. We were impressed and very happy with our stay- we had a fantastic full view of Mt Blanc and the surrounding peaks from our room, the room itself was very comfortable and clean, garden was spacious and sunny, fully cooked (English and continental) breakfast was delicious and the guys managing the chalet (Sarah, Nikki and Dave) were really friendly and flexible. Other guests staying in the chalet were part of the experience giving it a great adventurous and youthfull vibe. All this for a fairly affordable price in the world's best known mountaineering centre- you can't ask for much more!

Guildford UKTop Quality Stay, Excellent Staff and Facilties
Left on 07/06/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Planned on staying for 5 days but extended our trip out to 8 days as we were having such a good time. The chalets are located really close to the town centre (10 minute walk) and take in magnificent views of Mont Blanc. We stayed on an all inclusive basis. The food was of an excellent quality and there was always lots of it. The staff and our chalet hosts Sarah and alex could not have been more helpful or friendly. (They even drove us into town when not obliged to).
The Chalet we stayed in (Iceman) was lovely. Very comfortable with nice facilities (wifi , tv , dvd & fire place) all of which were well used. Not to mention the beds were very comfortable! There is so much to do in Chamonix and the adventure Base Chalets are the perfect place to Base yourself for your holiday.
Highly recommended and we are already looking forward to our next stay.

All went smooth thanks to the staff. I could add all the floss but suffice to say I am trying to find a window of opportunity to return... sooner rather than later.. within a month. Thanks to everyone from start to finish.

as always had a great holidayResponse from Adventure Base - 06/22/2011
Owner
We should point out that the person who wrote this review is the father of one of our chalet hosts, Sophie. He was joking about her being a disaster (well we hope he was anyway!) - she is lovely and a great cook! We did have a problem with the boiler for a few hours, but we had it repaired as soon as it was pointed out, and we've fixed the shower door!
Thanks Myles, look forward to seeing you next year!
