RotterdamBeautiful villa in a perfect location
Left on 05/06/2013 for a stay in May 2013
Last friday we came back from a one week stay in villa Filira in sunny Crete.
What a splendid week we had!
The villa exceeded our expectations. The whole villa smelled fresh and was very clean, we felt instantly at home. Every detail is taken care of. The beds are excellent, perfect showers with view (!) There are infact a lot of views in this beautiful house, even the bbq has a window with a gorgeous view! The gardens are meticulously taken care of and beautiful. The lemons from the lemon tree were amazing and we made drinks and lovely desserts with them.
There is every opportunity to enjoy the sunny climate of greece.
We admire the owners who put there soul in this place and felt privileged that we could enjoy this.
This is a holiday destination we hopefuly return to soon.

BergenA lovely holiday experience in a truly magnificent villa
Left on 10/28/2012 for a stay in October 2012
We stayed at Villa Filira 3 weeks in October and had a really enjoyable stay, many thanks to the beautiful villa with all its lovely qualities and the great follow-up and hospitality we received from Roula, Manolis and anna.
The check-in and check-out procedures were easy and smooth, from anna met us at the airport upon arrival til we left the gate three weeks later. The villa was spotless upon arrival - as it also was after the cleaning and laundry service twice a week during our stay.
The villa's high qualities are sustained throughout - including the very nice interior decoration and amenities, the lovely terraces, the beautiful and well-kept garden and not at least the fantastic swimming pool. It was also fun and practical to be able to pick fresh tomatoes, peppers, salads, limes and grapes from the garden! The outdoor barbecue was frequently used in the evening.
We travelled with small kids and the villa was very suitable for our needs. The pool was excellent with its separated child area and shades. Upon our request, Roula and Manolis kindly supplied many outdoor toys for the children, e.g. a play house, a slide, swings etc.
The location was nice with lovely views of the sea and the small village of Kolymbari. Although not a very picturesque village, we learned to appreciate the charm of the day-to-day life in Kolymbari during our stay. Unfortunately the road was not very suitable for walking, so a car was needed to drive the 1-2 kilometers to the village. Chania was only 15-20 mins away, and the beautiful Falasarna beach about 30 mins.
All in all the villa and the services exceeded our expectations and gave our stay a touch of luxury - we can highly recommend a stay at Villa Filira! -

I don't know where to begin this review as everything was perfect! With that said I will start with the fact that the pictures do not lie. Everything thing about this villa is as shown in the pictures. Villa Filira was built with and is maintained with a level of perfection that is rarely seen in a vacation rental. Not only is the villa itself fabulous but the village of Kolumbari is delightful. The people of the village are warm and welcoming and take great pride in themselves and their heritage. There is so much to see and do on this island and the people at Villa Filira make these adventures very easy and accessible. Hiking the gorge with anna was breathtaking but the restaurant at the bottom of the gorge was the highlight of the day. Speaking of the food the home delivered food is some of the best on the island and the cooking class is well worth the time and money. I spent 20 days at Villa Filira in July, 2012 and plan on 29 in June, 2013. I think that says it all. I have found my little piece of heaven!

I recently stayed at Villa Filira with my wife, son (aged 6) and my wife’s parents. I could not have found better accommodation if I had dreamed it up myself.
Upon arrival at Hania airport we were greeted by anna, our guide who accompanied us to the Villa and assisted us with information on local amenities, excursion ideas and also places to eat at various locations on the island, Anna was only too happy to help us.
When we arrived at the Villa, Anna introduced us to Roula, the owner. Roula greeted us with a lovely “Welcome Pack†full of lovely locally made products, most of which Roula had made herself. She was also very friendly and resourceful with local knowledge, this set the tone for what was a truly ideal holiday.
The lovely two story Cretan style house was spacious and comfortable. The owners have shown attention to detail in their choice of materials in the structure of the house as well as tasteful interior decorating. Very spacious living, dining/kitchen, bathroom, laundry and master bedroom (with private outdoor area, shaded by grapevines and overlooking the amazing vegetable garden) are all located on the ground level. The two additional bedrooms, with private balconies and a bathroom were located up the staircase. The views from the balconies off the bedrooms were magic and I spent many hours just taking in the view over Kolambari and the ocean. The house has every appliance and amenity that you could possibly want including a juice and coffee machine.
The outside areas of the property are truly magic, view from the ocean to the mountains behind. The gardens have olive trees, rosebushes, citrus trees, hibiscus, and may other varieties of plants and flowers. The vegetable garden was abundant with melons, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, aubergines, capsicum/peppers, chillies, herbs and more. The barbeque area is a lovely rendered brick area and is shaded by two lovely mulberry trees. The lawn area was great for us to be able to play outdoor games with our son. The infinity pool was a huge hit with us all - a nice way to start the day with a refreshing swim, as well as a relaxing way to end the day after touring around the island. The large outdoor table, overlooking the backyard, pool and Kolambari Bay was the place where we spend many evenings winding down after a full day of events watching the beautiful colours of the sunset.
If I had to make a negative comment it would be that the Villa is so nice it is hard to drag yourself away from it to explore Crete. The one regret I have is that I only booked it for one week but I will be going back for sure. -

London, United KingdomFantastic stay; beautiful villa
Left on 09/05/2012 for a stay in August 2012
My family of 5 just returned from 8 wonderful days at Villa Filira. The photos don't deceive: the villa is beautiful and tastefully furnished. In a welcome basket, the owners presented us with olive oil, raki, wine, and other treats all made by them. We spent most of our time there outside, including the outdoor living room -- a perfect place for cocktails after a day at the beach. The infinity pool is beautiful, as is the adjoining lounge area that was covered to escape the hot sun. We used the outdoor oven to grill our meals a couple of nights, including some of the beautiful vegetables (eggplant, squash, zucchini) from the lovely garden. (From the garden, we also picked fresh melons and grapes which we enjoyed during breakfasts.) If I had any nits, it would be about the nearby town, Kolymbari, which while helpful for things like groceries and atms is otherwise unmemorable. Also, while the view is beautiful -- 270 or so degrees of ocean -- the main highway runs just below the villa and is both visible and audible from the backyard. But these are trivial issues to an otherwise wonderful stay.

I stayed in Villa Filira for two weeks with my boyfriend and two other couples in june. It was fantastic! The villa is incredible, extremely comfortable with all the facilities you need. All the rooms are well decorated with a relaxing style, perfect for all type of vacation. From the amazing infinity pool you have a spectacular mountain and sea view. Colourfull gardens and spacefull patios for any time of the day. Wonderfull sunrises and beautiful sunsets! The location is perfect with many interesting small villages around and at the same time it's far enough from the crowd. The owners are helpfull, available for everything and very very friendly. It was like a dream! We highly recomend this villa to any traveller!

Left on 07/08/2012 for a stay in June 2012
My family of five stayed at Villa Filira for five nights in June and couldn't have been happier. The Villa is stunningly beautiful with spectacular unobstructed views of olive orchards and the ocean. It's location is perfect for exploring western Crete (our favorite side of the island), including the Samaria Gorge, Falasarno, Elefonissi, and Chania.
The infinity edge pool and outdoor terraces were perfect for relaxing between excursions. The Villa is elevated just enough to capture lovely breezes that kept it from ever feeling too hot. Our children never got tired of swimming in the pool.
Roula was a wonderful hostess and her excursion guide (Anna), provided us with great itinerary suggestions, down to exactly which Taverna to have lunch in Elos on our way to Elefonissi, and how to hike the Gorge while avoiding the crowds.
I could not recommend this place more highly. In short, I wanted to take it home with me.

BolwarraTruly in the lap of luxury
Left on 07/08/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We travelled from Italy with our eldest son, his partner and their 4 yr old daughter to the stunning Villa Filira in mid april 2012. We were met by anna at the airport who was our guide and "go to person", if required. The villa is approximately 22 klms west of Chania, about a kilometre off a well signposted multi lane highway near the town of Kolymbari.
The view, on arrival, was fantastic. From its elevated position the vista around the property is of the olive groves that produce the fruit for the sweet Cretan olive oils, a bottle of which was included in the generous welcome pack . To the north, from the deck and over the infinity edge pool, is a view of the beach side towns and on to the Sea of Crete. To the south east are snow capped mountains and to the west, the rugged hills and valleys of Western Crete.
Inside the two storied villa is an open planned, spacious, well appointed entry, living dining and kitchen area. It was so welcoming and comfortable, all our travel tension evaporated. The ground floor includes a large bedroom, roomy bathroom and a laundry with washer and dryer. Upstairs are two bedrooms, each with its own deck to privately soak up the Cretan sun.
The kitchen had all the appliances required to self cater including an espresso coffee machine. Dining could be inside, on the northern deck or on the western paved area. We were spoiled for choice. In all other aspects the villa had all we needed. Towels, robes, toiletries were available, truly luxurious. There were sofas on the deck, and a day bed beside the pool. The villa was cleaned and the linen changed twice during our six night stay.
Anna had advised us that there was a supermarket in the local village and the location of several restaurants worth trying. There was also a good take away, with deliveries and a post office. We ate in Chania on a couple of occasions but it is worth a road trip to the southern side of the island, to Elafonissi for fresh, locally caught seafood cooked over open fires.
Absolute highlight of our stay was an arranged meal, cooked at the villa by Roula, our gracious hostess. This topped off a marvellous time on Crete and I would recommend it to any who might stay. Roula and her husband have prepared the Villa Filara perfectly for a most relaxed vacation in what is truly in the lap of luxury. Our only mistake was not staying a month. -

We stayed at Villa Filira at the end of May into Junefor two weeks. Roula the owner is the perfect hostess and the villa provides everything you could want. From the infinity pool, through the free wifi to the fluffy towels and robes everything is off high quality and artistically presented. It was our daughters 21st Birthday and Roula organised and delivered a birthday cake and balloons and candles and insisted it was a gift. There is also a vegtable garden on site for the use of guests and we were able to pick our own salads, onions, courgettes, mulberries and apricots. The owner also has links with a local travel agency Diktynna travel who organised a number of tours for us. Their local guide anna is also a great find. She is extremely knowledgeable as a guide but is also a great person to be around and to chat to. So as an overall package the villa and the tour company provided us with a fantastic holiday. Hopefully we will be back one day!

Left on 02/25/2012 for a stay in September 2011
My husband, son and I had a great time in this villa. It was perfectly designed, clean and well maintained. Best part of the day was getting back to the house after a nice beach day, cooking dinner and enjoying it al fresco under the twinkling stars. The location is great as you can explore all the beaches you 've read about. But we also loved the quiet villages - in some we had the best meals ever. Roula is an extremely friendly and helpul owner, she made sure we had everything we needed and suggested places and restaurants to visit. We would definitely recommend this place and hope to go there again ourselves.
