An idyllic retreat for larger groups of family or friends, this property has been tastefully converted to offer seclusion and privacy in the small village of Chapels. Originally built as a barn that was part of a working farm, this property has been lovingly converted to offer accommodation for groups of up to eight people. Despite being spacious, the property has a very cosy feeling, in part due to the retention of original features such as wooden beams and an open fire in the sitting room; wonderful for relaxing by on those chilly winter evenings. For the hazy summer nights, there are front and rear lawns from which you can enjoy a glass o...f wine as the sun goes down. The living area is arranged in an open-plan style and the property boasts a conservatory from which you can soak up the scenery at any time of the year.

Region: Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
Town: Located in the south-west of the Lake District, Chapels is a small and picturesque hamlet that sits between the nearby mountains and the sea. Surrounded by a patchwork of fields that lead down to the coast, Chapels is a chocolate-box setting from which to explore the local region. For a selection of pubs and restaurants, Broughton-on-Furness has much to offer. The history of Broughton-in-Furness dates back to the 11th Century, with the oldest building thought to be St Mary's Church, first built in Saxon times. The focus of the town is the Georgian market square with its obelisk erected to mark the jubilee of King George III in 1810. In Elizabethan times a charter was granted to hold fairs, and it is in the Square that the annual reading of the Charter takes place on 1st August. Kirkby-in-Furness plays host to the Furness Railway and provides a convenient and relaxing way to take in the splendour of the locality.Read more

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, even though weather not great! We sat in the conservatory looking at the rain. Very well equipped throughout- felt like someone's home rather than a holiday let. Bathrooms excellent.

A fully equiped spacious cottage in a quiet but not too out of the way location. 2 good pubs 20 minutes walk away and the most luxurious bathroom I have come across in a rental property. All bedrooms are a good size and with 2 dining areas, a conservatory and lounge, tons of living space. Mobile phone signal rubbish but that's probably a plus for some.

All very smooth process for booking and arrival, with even welcome flowers in the house.
very spacious cottage indeed , and all at a very high standard, and welcomed dogs too.
Location was ideal to explore the southern lakes , and also the coast.
Very good local pubs and local food , but needed a car to drive to all.
Loved Community pub and other pubs and food shops in Broughton, plus Booths supermarket in Windermere, plus exploring Coniston areas.
Spent most of the week walking in fabulous sunshine- what a treat.found lots of flatter walks, in the southern area - ideal for those with knee problems!
only negative was the actual location of the cottage/ barn conversion- as it was in very close proximity to other houses and very little garden. Also the views were mainly blocked by other houses - we had hoped for a better sea view!

This is a great place to stay - very well equipped, superb kitchen, roomy lounge and very nice conservatory. Bedrooms were all very comfortable and the enclosed garden was useful as we took our dog. In a good area for exploring the south/central lakes and also close to the coast. Quiet location with walks from the door.
